We were recommended to this restaurant by our hotel and it also features in the Lonely Planet guide to Sicily as one of the best seafood restaurants in Sicily. Whilst there is no doubt that the decor is impressive and the food excellent, the overall experience was a little odd. The main menu contained only wines by the glass and we had to ask separately for the wine list. The owner took our order himself and seemed less than impressed when we only ordered a starter and main course !! In fact, the portion sizes were perfectly adequate. The evening was salvaged in no small part by the very friendly (and multi-lingual) waitress who served our sweets and the obligatory glass of Marsala to finish.

Garibaldi was a recommendation from the reception from Melia resort. When we got there there was no one. Service was very nice. I ordered far too much food and had to cancel one of my favourite dishes - veal. I had a Sicilian mixed frittura for two, excellent. My risotto al frutti Di mare and my husband swordfish were both excellent. We had house Sicilian red was very nice. I was just disappointed I was not able to eat more.
The food is excellent and also the service !!!! Highly recommended.

wow, what a place, what a fish quality... I love raw fish, and the problem was that my friend Vito understood that right away...so my portions became just huge...
From fresh french Oysters, to local shrimps, scampi, local red tuna...everything was just saw good... and then the fried fish, OMG...just SO good.
Visit it!!

This restaurant is like an oasis after a long morning walking around Mazaro. Beautifully presented with lovely table linen and very attentive staff. Although a menu with a strong carnivorous feel ( I Know my carnivorous son would loved it), it did offer some interesting choices for a couple of vegetarians. We had a different take on pasta Norma which featured gnocchi - delicious and the right quantity. A fine salad with fennel, oranges, walnuts and rocket. Perfect! Desert - a deconstructed canola which my husband adored.

By an innate passion for the Culinary Arts and experience in Catering, Chef Davide Norrito needs to create an environment in which to reconcile atmosphere and good food.Every day ...... the Chef is devoted to the selection and purchase the best fresh fish caught by trawlers in Mazara del Vallo, renowned throughout the world as a first fishing fleet in Europe. In addition to fish ...... we have the best meat, to serve the most succulent and grilled dishes typical of Sicilian Food!Enjoy you meal!
My friend and I visited Mazara del Vallo, and found this gem of a restaurant by accident, as the one we had been recommended to go to was closed.
The food was excellent, the staff friendly and very personable.
I was able to have some wonderful gluten free food, with no difficulty whatsoever.

I could definitely adopt this trattoria to be my cantine: lots of fish, vegetables, and local starters with fish or seafood. Very reasonable price. One of us took meat and that was excellent too. The dish of starters of the day was delicious, with different fish and vegetables. Locals came in for take away so we took also a take away for our next meal and loved it (aubergines parmigiana and some cauliflower sides). Would hire this cook full time if I could...

We usually steer away from restaurants with lots of English menu translations out front -- but thankfully we made an exception for La Tavernetta. It is a lovely restaurant, with a covered courtyard area between two houses (a common Mazara arrangement). It has a great owner/host, Aldo, who is very friendly and helpful (admittedly speaking some Italian helps). All the customers there the night we visited were seemingly discriminating Italians, apart from us -- and the food was excellent, from the mixed seafood antipasto through the mixed grilled fish to the light ice-cream parfait dessert to finish, accompanied by a complimentary sweet Zibbibo (an indigenous Sicilian grape) dessert wine, made by Aldo himself. Aldo also recommended a fragrant dry white wine made by a small local producer, using the Grillo grape. Eat here and you almost certainly won't be disappointed.

....in 7 days in Sicily. My life's work is to find the best ice cream. Well, someone has to do it! This is the best so far. Try it and see. You only live once!

Amazing place on a busy road - the inside is a traditional small shop interior with wooden counters and tiled floors. We stopped briefly for an ice cream on a hot evening. It was superb and we decided to sit at a small table inside. The place is a stop for local people and the products are wonderful - we did not have any hot snacks or cakes but they too looked as good as you can imagine
Worth a stop anytime. The mango and pistachio ice creams were A1. Superb
