Family-run by amazing people. Full RV hookups. Daily, weekly, or monthly rates available. Gorgeous scenery in the well-kept park (about 15 acres) and nearby areas. Coin-op laundry facilities on site. Very (leashed) dog-friendly. Activities building and outdoor gathering area with fire pit and Adirondack chairs. Very friendly neighbors. No AT&T service but TMobile and Verizon work. Park also has WiFi. On Saturday mornings, cinnamon rolls are on offer for guests and a local orchard sent over a man selling local honeycrisp apples.

Lazy Day Cabins & RV Hideaway

Our cabins and motel rooms are clean and smoke free. We offer 6 pet-friendly cabins, 3 motel rooms, 10 full size RV spaces with full hook-ups, and a large covered pavilion, complete with an enclosed and fully equipped kitchen and gas grill, which can be rented for large gatherings. We welcome family reunions and church retreats. There's nothing like spending quality time together in summertime weather in the 70s. But every season has something special to offer. All-season activities include hiking and four-wheeling nearby trails, nature watching, touring our rustic villages, and various events and festivals hosted by nearby towns. Of course there's opportunities for tubing and skiing during our snowy winters. It's always a good time to visit the mountains! Our Hideaway is backed up to the peaceful and beautiful Lincoln National Forest and overlooks the scenic Lane Ranch in James Canyon. Wildlife is a common sight in our park and in the meadow below, including deer, elk, turkey, and of course, hummingbirds! Experience the tranquility that only nature can provide and share some "quality time" with the ones you love. For a weekend, a week, or longer, our rustic Cabins, convenient Motel Rooms, and generously spaced RV Sights are just what you need to get away from it all. Come and see what you've been missing. Get away to Lazy Day!

Not the best value

Reviewed By FLUFFY0521

I visited in September 2020 for 3 nights in cabin number one. I paid $100 per night to stay ($90 per night plus $10 per night for one small dog). In comparison, the Lodge In Cloudcroft was charging $125 per night during this same time period. With the superior quality of the Lodge, this cabin likely was not the best value for the money. Positives; 1 -The location was easy to find, only a short distance from the town of Cloudcroft. 2-The size of the cabin was good for 2 people but would be tight for any more than that. 3-The area was quiet and peaceful. At night you could hear the sound of the elk bugles outside of the cabin, while inside was quiet. 4-There was a fully stocked kitchen with an apartment sized refrigerator. 5-Satellite TV was provided. 6-A short gravel road leads to the cabin with parking immediately adjacent to the cabin that would accommodate 2 cars. 7-There was an available fireplace in the middle of the sitting room, although it was still quite warm when I visited so I cannot attest to how it functions and it appeared to be in less than desirable condition. 8-There was keypad door knob for coded entry making the arrival and departure convenient. 9-There was a small closet in the bedroom with plenty of hangers for hanging clothes, along with some extra pillows and linens. 10-Free WiFi was available. Negatives; 1-The RV parking is immediately adjacent to the cabins which reduces the privacy. The cabin I stayed in (#1) had 2 RVs parked very close, within 2 feet, one on the side and another behind. 2-The cabins likely would not meet most people’s standards due to deferred maintenance and poor cleaning. Some other reviewers have described the cabins as “rustic”, which they are, but they are also not well maintained. I have included some pictures to illuminate the following issues; 2a-Cleaning seems to be in need of some quality control. Due to the ongoing Covid issues I did bring cleaning wipes with me, which proved to be useful since the most touchable parts of the refrigerator and toaster were visibly dirty from handling and had to be wiped down before use. Also, while the shower appeared to be clean, the shower curtain had lots of visible mold on it. (See pics) This was a pet friendly cabin so there was some staining on the carpet (it would be best not to have carpet in pet friendly cabins). 2b-Comfort was below standards. The futon in the sitting room was rock hard, not comfortable for sitting, let alone sleeping, and while I typically prefer a firm mattress, the bedroom mattress in the cabin was hard and could benefit from a mattress topper to soften it up. 2c-There was loads of deferred maintenance. The cabin was dark and could have been brightened up with some paint. Also it was not really possible to open the windows since most of the screens were torn or missing and the window panes had paint on them. Much of the windows and doors were in need of repair. The front door was very worn wood and the back door had a broken lock, and therefore could not be locked, leaving the cabin unsecured. The bathroom sink had a faucet that was running constantly causing a stain in the sink, and a significant waste of water. Wood in the kitchen was worn and peeling and some cabinet handles were broken. There was a small dinette set with 4 chairs that all had broken parts and stained seats. 3-There were many creepy-crawly insects found daily in the kitchen and bedroom, likely because the screens were missing or damaged and the windows were worn and did not close with an adequate seal. The windows also did not lock, so were not secure. 4-WiFi service was not reliable. I have Verizon and was able to get only one bar. 5-small water heater in bathroom made a loud clanking noise during the night, off and on. Being right off the bedroom this noise made it hard to sleep.

Peaceful get away!

Reviewed By Stick07pa

We really enjoyed our stay in our RV at this camp! The hostess (Darlene) was fantastic! No cell service just added to the peaceful silence of this mountain. We rode around the surrounding area and saw quite a bit of wildlife. If you like to take pictures, the areas surrounding this camp are just beautiful! We are going back soon! Great get away!

Great Stay

Reviewed By Jessica E

We truly enjoyed our three night stay. The owners and managers were welcoming and friendly. The bath house has two large individual restrooms that each have a shower. We took our 8 year old boy and he had such a great time and spotted some deer close to camp. Rio Penasco is a nice small river that runs thru camp that was very relaxing to hear in the background and has a walking trail next to it. We will definitely stay here again.

Rude Park Manager

Reviewed By batjrs

Driving by, noticed a camp ground that wanted to check out to consider staying. Also wanted to get off the road to re-strap daughter’s bike on the back of camper. Entered the park and was flagged down by lady who seemed to be park manager. She asked what I was doing so I told her and she said “NO, I needed to back out (onto the busy street) and leave that this was a private park.” I was shocked and said this would influence my consideration for future stays and she said “Good! I don’t want you to stay here”. I was flabbergasted and will be more than happy to honor her request.

Ferguson Tipi Camping

Choosing to stay in Dancing Bear Tipi or Sun and Sky Tipi is sure to be one of the most unique and special experiences of your life! This is Glamping at it’s best. Guests will have everything they need and more for an authentic and unforgettable glamping experience. It is no ordinary tipi . . . it comes complete with queen size bed, cotton sheets, warm comfy quilts, and a goose down comforter in a beautiful duvet on a pillow top mattress. There is a wrought iron candlelight chandelier that hangs above the bed. The smoke flaps on this 20' tipi are open at night for a wonderful view of the stars. The tipis have been pitched in a beautiful location among the ponderosa pine, douglas fir and white pine trees. Glampers are welcome to explore the forest and take a hike on the adjoining Lincoln National Forest lands. The wide-open spaces and lack of light pollution outside the tipi make this an ideal location for stargazing. The smoke flaps are open at night for a wonderful view of the stars while lying in bed. There is room inside the tipi for two cots with sleeping bags so up to four guests can stay. Children are welcome and will have an awesome time staying in a real tipi. New Mexico Tipis/Teepees is a great Glamping Experience with Authentic Native American Tipis in the cool pine trees. Our Tipis are based in the Lincoln National Forest in the south-central mountains of New Mexico. We hope you will enjoy "glamping" (glamorous camping) in one of our tipis situated in the cool pines on our property. The smoke flaps on our tipis can be opened at night for a wonderful view of the stars while lying on a very comfortable queen or full size bed. This is camping without really camping. We enjoy providing our guests with a great outdoor experience. The clean fresh air and stars at night will amaze you. You can sit outside and watch the turkey and deer wander by. The sound of birds and squirrels never grows old. Occasionally we even have a herd of elk wander through browsing on the grass. In the fall, September and October, you may even hear the bull elk bugling to impress the cows. There is hiking right outside your door or you can just hang out in a hammock and relax.

OUT RIGHT THIEF!! GUESTS BEWARE!!

If I could only take back this booking I would! I booked a trip for my second wedding anniversary, unfortunately we were unable to make trip and refused a refund, only a credit to use toward the following season. When trying to book with our credit we were denied! Wanda couldn’t recall the 15 emails I sent, nor the countless phone calls/voice messages. Her words exactly in an email, “ I told you it would not be possible as we close our tipis around the beginning of October due to the cold weather and the chance of our water freezing. So you said you would keep the offer of the credit and use it this coming season. January 15th you sent me an email asking about staying in February. We don't open our tipis until the middle of May again due to the cold and the preparations required to get them ready for renting. I am unable to offer you a refund for last year as our books have been closed out by our accountant and been prepared for the IRS and our income reported. I am still willing to give you a stay in Dancing Bear Tipi this season which runs from May 15th to October 1st. Perhaps after you have your baby in June you would like a getaway later in the summer.” After all the back and forth she finally ended it with “I am sorry but I don't have any record of owing you a free stay.” THE NERVE! Not only was I ripped off, but customer service was HORRIBLE!! She not only stole our money, after refusing service, but failed to honor her promise of a credit for this season. DO NOT BOOK WITH HER!
