Mauritius is arguably Africa’s wealthiest destination, a tropical paradise with tons to do. Port Louis, the modern capital of this 38-mile by 29-mile island, is a bustling port with a revitalized waterfront and a busy market. But most visitors gravitate toward resort areas such as Mont Choisy, quiet Trou-aux-Biches and the more bustling Flic en Flac, popular with scuba divers. Rivière Noire is ideal for those looking for great deep-sea fishing.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon to Mauritius and I cannot recommend the hotel enough!! From the arrival past koi fish to the beautifully African inspired decor and fresh smelling oil warmers dotted around all public areas to the beautiful, if freezing, adults only pool - the whole place is perfection! Our room was beautiful and the case of toiletries and essentials we found there was just wonderful! A great, luxurious touch. The glassbottom boat was a wonderful experience but I recommend not eating breakfast as its very choppy near the wave barrier! Infinity Blue was by far the stand up restaurant and we ended up booking for 2 lunches and a dinner during our time at the Heritage Awali. I have to give the most special of shout outs to Shyama and Farzini who never failed to provide the most amazing service and were always happy to dance, chat, laugh and sing with us. Soodesh who was one of the managers in Zanzibar could not do enough for us either. He was so kind and just made our experience so wonderful. The African Night at Boma made our last evening absolutely wonderful and was a truly exciting experience with such great food, dancing and music. The chicken dish at Kuzini was exceptional as was the cheesecake. My only complaint is that the serving of drinks is quite slow no matter where you go unless you order wine or water! However, try a peach and passionfruit margarita! They were a solid favourite! Also, please be careful of the current in the ocean which is very very forceful and actually gave me a very frightening experience while snorkeling. Sea urchins are also in the bay making it quite dangerous if caught unawares like I was. I also cannot recommend the spa enough either. We had a back, neck and shoulder massage then I visited on my last day for an express facial and hair repair treatment which made me feel like a new woman in time for a long flight home. We would love to come back and spend more time at the hotel in future. It was simply wonderful!

No cleanliness, dirty and cloudy pool, no breakfast was provided. Not welcoming staff. Dirty bathroom. I would highly discourage mauritians and tourists. The baby cribs are not frequently cleaned. Lots of noise at night.

Parking space need to be allocated to each residence. Thanks to Mr Soobhurg for its attention and great hospitality. Pool was wonderful. However they closed the access to the beach wih a padlock, could get out to have a walk on the beach.

My friend and i live on a hotel nearby, and wanted to try something nearby. We came in and sat down and ordered beef. Everything was fine until we had to pay. We asked for the check 4 times, and the first time the waiter told us that we should relax instead, and that we didnt need to hurry - but we wanted to go home. Many minutes went by, and at the end we got up to the counter. The waiter finally came with the bill, but it was much much higher than we expected. They said it was because the steak price was pr. gram. but it was nowhwere to see on the menu. They took advantage that we dont know the language. So we payed and quickly got out of there. Really bad expirence getting tricked for our money….
