This is a large Japanese and Korean restaurant a few km out of Maumere on the northern coastal road.
It is a weird place, with inside and outside Seating, really quite tasteless (in style), with an eclectic and ugly mix of architecture, but on a fantastic location on the seafront. But there is no Japanese or Korean food because, apparently, the Coki (chef) pulang (has gone home), we assume back to Japan or Korea! So it has the usual Indonesian basic fare … fried fish, ikan bakar, nasi putih, goreng, sop buntut etc. etc. Unfortunately, much of what we ordered was not available (sop buntut, rawon, Teh Tarik and others … about 30% of the menu was unavailable.) The service was by a lovely lady, who couldn’t remember anything we told her, so the entire meal was a litany of mistakes, and it took an hour for our drinks to start arriving. I say start arriving, because drinks and food dishes came one at a time.
The final price was ok, at 400K IDR. But if you are in a hurry, then don’t bother. Before I sign off, I must add that the sweet and sour fish was excellent, and that if you want to swim in their cloudy pool it will cost 25K IDR, and for their BBQ Karaoke (?) it costs 75K IDR. Strange place, not too bad food, but terrible service and too many things missing off the menu. Has to be a poor.

Due to tripadvisor reviews we drove 14 km to this restaurant. Menu was quait intresting. Unfortunately only available wine was sweet sparling one:( so we ordered gin tonic, which ended after two shoots! Fish and pizza were frozen. But the bigest disaster was hamburger. White Sandwich with frozen meat, which was not similar to beef. Maybe if you ask for buying fresh a few hours earlier...

Good food, but a pretty mediochre place.
Large live fish tanks and a wide range of other seafood, cooked whatever way you like it. Right in the middle of downtown Maumere, with a back Seating section overlooking the water. good place for a change and for those who really like their fish fresh

This is a local shack on the edge of the beach in Paga. The surrounds are beautiful, but if you go for a swim, be careful, as the sea bottom shelves off fast, there are some rocks where the surf breaks, and every so often a set of King waves will come in and things get dangerous.
The restaurant is very basic, absolutely zero frills – an open shack with tatty tables and a rough, but clean enough toilet.
But the lady owner is lovely, and the food is great. All local fare. We had two tunas barbequed to juicy perfection with great sauces, loads of veggies, mixed banana and orange juices, and all for a very reasonable 340K IDR for 4. I wouldn’t drive all the way out here from Maumere for a meal, but if you are in the Paga area, then it is definitely the place to eat.

I read about this restaurant in Internet and it is really an excellent one. Located right in front of Frans Seda Airport, it is centrally located. The most popular plate here are seafood and vegetable made from papaya leaves which are not bitter after special treatment. An excellent dining here is our first impression for Flores Island.

Cafe Charlie is a small cozy place to have allay breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. We have simple menu to cater you. We also have cookies, assorted Indonesian cakes and fresh juice. We served coffee, tea and soft drinks.
I have visited Maumere so many times and always have a hard time finding food. I am glad this cafe have opened. Its small place run by local couple. They cook everything fresh. Its clean and yummy. Breakfast is available, I had the big breakfast, u can only find western breakfast here for less than 4$. Pancake with local banana. Try the stir vegetables and some local cuisine such as fried chicken and soy tempeh and tofu, ask for peanut sauce! The best i ever had, all made from scratch. I even asked the lady if i can buy the peanuts to bring home. They have one cute son, Bertrand boy!
This is a small family cafe and they just opened, maybe the service bit slow (maybe because they just opened) but its all worth it.
Oh dont forget to order the fresh juice.
Ps: i came here for breakfast lunch and dinner, believe me there is no other place is a no no.

Hard to find but worth the effort. Look for the light blue sign on the water side of the main road. Entrance is via a narrow alleyway. Good basic food and cheap beer. Right on the water so away from the road and nice and cool. Has a Bob Marley and Bintang theme. Best we could find in Maumere.
