I have always been a fan of the Peopleâs Pint. They have great brew and fabulous food in a cozy setting where you feel like you know everyone. Recently they hosted a community event called Pint in the Park. It was fantastic and I really appreciated being able to enjoy an event like this downtown. Of course, great beer from the Peopleâs Pint was available, but there were also a couple other local vendors with hard cider and ginger beverages. They served everything in commemorative glasses. I decided to buy my glass and take it home. It was reasonable at just 5 bucks. There were some food booths as well and different bands came in every hour or so. It was nice hanging out in the sunshine, listening to music, and sipping away on some of the best brew this area has to offer.

Sleek, modern atmosphere with full service bar serving fusion East meets West cuisine. Additional dining room with bar for special events for up to 100 guests. Covered deck for outdoor dining.
Never had a popover prior to visiting Judy's - theirs was enormous! It was big, juicy and delicious (goodbye, diet!). The place has an ecclectic vibe (mix of styles, great restroom) and the waiting people are polite and friendly - excellent music choice (Franz Ferdinand ). Highly recommend it !

The Alvah Stone is an authentic American restaurant and bar open in the historic Montague Bookmill. Our space is a comfortable neighborhood joint with strong ties to the community and to local farms. Our goal is simplicity executed perfectly.
Although folks have been telling me I should hit this place for a while, a combination or finances and the remoteness of Montague (which i know well, having run a record store in this very building for two years in the '90s) conspired against my visiting. But my wife had a birthday last week. She had been to The Alvah Stone earlier this year with a pal and had been blown away by the food. When asked, she said THIS was where she wanted to go, so what the heck? And I'm so glad we hit it.We ended up taking our server's advice, and checking out the "chef's choice," option, which is basically a tasting menu for $40 (per person). My wife stays away from gluten, so they took that into account and served up an insanely great selection of small plates in all sorts of guises. Beautifully chosen and presented, it was a LOT of food for the price, and made for an exceptionally fun evening. With several drinks and dessert, it ran $125, which is about a quarter of what I paid for the last tasting menu I enjoyed of this calibre, We wanted to sit out on the deck, both for the sights/sounds of the river, and also to enjoy the warm evening. They do no accept reservations specifically for the outdoors. It's first come first serve. We made our reservation on the early side and had a choice of several sweet outdoor spots, but as the place filled up I'm sure there were some disappointments. Much of this is due to the fact that it's such a gorgeous setting you really just want to linger. But we eventually cleared out and yielded our table, so if you get there and naught is available, have patience. Anyway, I have eaten at every iteration of every restaurant that has ever been in this building, and I can say -- without equivocation -- that The Alvah Stone takes thing to a new level. I've read that some people have had service issues, but we had absolutely first class service on every level. So I do not believe it is systematic, None of the friends I've spoken to who frequent the place have made mention of it, but -- as we all know -- things happen. I can only reiterate that if I had the dough, I would be a regular.

Using a giftcard my wife and I stopped for Friday night dinner on 5/17/19, and I was famished. I ordered the scallops on rice with balsamic vinegar and asparagas. It was terrific. I could have eaten 4 of them. There were 4 scallops, 4 spears of asparagas, and 4,000 grains of rice. Dinner rolls and a salad would have made the meal. I couldn't wait to get home to my homemade brownie alamode. Next time I will get an appetizer....The parking lot was full, and we literally waited for someone to leave to take their space, but inside was only half full. Most tables had diners who drove there alone and met friends at their table. Don't get intimidated and leave thinking there may be a wait! They have a super friendly staff. Sara was our server and was great.
