We have ordered takeout from the Silk Road Bistro numerous times over the past few years. This is far and away the best Chinese food we have ever had in the US. In a category that is dominated by poorly prepared renditions of what people think is Chinese cuisine, Silk Road Bistro stands out as truly superior. Everything we have tried is flavorful and fresh-tasting. The fried dishes are obviously prepared in fresh, clean oil, none of the greasy taste that you get in so many other places. If you are in downtown Marlborough, you can't do better than the Silk Road Bistro.

Not a huge buffet but the choices they had were all very good. We were a group of 8 and everyone had good things to say. Only reason this isn't 4 stars is due to the small choice selection and dated interior.

They make their own scallion pancakes! Seriously! They're so flaky and delicious, especially with the house dipping sauce. But it doesn't end there. Orange-flavor beef, General Gao's chicken, ginger string beans with chicken... all excellent. The only things I've had there that I wasn't impressed with were the chicken wings (plain fried wings) and kung pao (nothing special). That's part of why they lost a star- the wings. It's more take out but they do have a few tables to eat there. If you go during lunch for the specials, expect to have one of the young sons practicing on the out of tune piano in the place. That's a bit annoying and the other reason they lost a star.

I bought take-out soup once when I felt poorly. The chicken soup was quite good. So,today I went on line and ordered some Sweet and Sour Pork, at my mother's request, for pick-up. Twenty minutes later, I went to get it Oops! "My chef missed the order." I you have a chef there, he needs to be fired!! I have has poor food. This would be over-rated as poor!! I asked a paper plate, a fork and a napkin be included. Well, I got to mom's nursing home and there was no plate!! Three containers: One had rice, which was okay. Another had sweet and sour sauce and the third one had these fried balls of dough with pinkie finger-nail sized pieces of fat and gristle in the middle, that were tough as wall nails, pun intended! What a fiasco. To say the food at the nursing home would have been better speaks for itself!!

When I'm sick, cold-flu-allergies, I want wonton soup. Yes, I would prefer it had some chunks of Napa or other veggies in it, but it's still my go to "liquid penicillin!"
