On Sunday, we went there for (dim sum) lunch. There were a few free parking spots in the restaurant parking lot, but they filled up fast. We parked across the street using meter parking ($2 for two hours). The restaurant appeared clean and well-kept. We sat in a large round table with a Lazy Susan turntable. This restaurant did not have people pushing carts of dim sums. Instead, we had to order dim sum from a list. As food items were brought out, items on the order list were crossed out one by one. Some items tasted great; and some items were disappointing. All in all, I found that the dim sum quality was about average.Service was good.

Sichuan Taste is one of the several new additions of traditional Chinese restaurants in Malden. I was very excited to try this place, but was fairly disappointed afterwards. The restaurant had nice settings and a very big selection of traditional Sichuan dishes. We ordered a number of dishes but could not find many that were marginally good. One of the most famous dishes, Beef and Ox Tripes in Chili Sauce, was chopped into too-small pieces, and was completely tasteless - the absolute worst in over 30 Sichuan style restaurants I have been too. The same problem applies to some other dishes - they don't look or taste like what you expected. I was told that the chef was indeed from Sichuan region but I doubted if he/she received good training in make authentic dishes. The service was a bit slow but OK. The pricing was comparable with similar restaurants.

Mandarin Malden is Taiwanese style restaurant located in Malden center. I don't think it is related to the other Mandarin chain in the Boston area which serves great (but Americanized) Chinese food.Food option is good including a section of Taiwanese specials. Portion is very good. Pricing is reasonable. Service is fine. Some of the dishes could be more authentic (for example, the double-cooked pork uses lean meat instead of bacon-style meat you see in Sichuan restaurants) . The most popular dish may be the "Three Cup Chicken". It is a fairly small place since some of the tables are located in a narrow hallway to the restrooms. It only has two larger tables that can accommodate parties of 6 or more people. We have been here several times and the experiences in general was OK.

For the 4th or 5th time now in over about 6 years, my extended family (at least 10 people each time) have met at Tiki Island and we always have a great time with really enjoyable food. This is a typical Boston area old school Chinese restaurant with better than average Tiki drinks and food. For our group of 10 (no kids) the total cost with 12 Tiki drinks came in at just under $300 with tip. A true value. We always go to Tiki Island when we are in the Medford area visiting family.

Friends recommended this place so we went there on Saturday. The place is nicely decorated. The service was terrible. After long waiting, we were seated. The dim sum food cart came over once, we picked 5 dishes, after that, the cart never came. I walked over to the lady whose cart had the food I'd like to pick, and I gently showed her my table and asked her to walk over to my table. She never came. After a long waiting, we were just siting with no food. I walked over to the lady and asked again. After another long waiting, finally she came over, but her cart was near empty. I walked to manager, and explained that we were waiting for food, but cart never came. The manager yelled at me: "they were all sold, what can I do?". I was afraid to talk more, intimidated by his manner. We ended up left, and everyone was half full. For the $34 bill, we paid $10 tip. I saw the smile on the face of the manager. I don't think we'll visit that place again.
