New owners as of February 2016! Now serving breakfast all day and lunch. BYOB
based on others' recommendations we had breakfast at red skiff this morning. it is a very small charming place where you feel like you are in someone's home. the wait person was incredibly warm and friendly without being at all intrusive. her recommendations were spot on, and the food was uniformly good. service was fast, and the food was beautifully presented and cooked to order. this could easily become my favorite for breakfast even though it is a 45 min drive from my home!

A comfortable restaurant with good service, great oysters and good food. Dining companion received a pork chop that was quite rare and needed to go back to the kitchen , I had a steak that was cooked properly but tough. Two other companions liked with mains very well. Attractive upscale atmosphere that is a tad noisy but quite charming nonetheless.

We tried to get into a popular restaurant in Rockport, but there were no tables available. Our BnB advised us to try Franklin in Gloucester and we were thrilled with this popular local spot on Main Street. It was quite crowded but were quickly shown a table. There were a number of families with little ones that were given the same gracious welcome. I chose the catfish (mildly spicy) with mango sauce served with a tasty rice & grilled veggies. It was one of my favorite fish dishes anywhere. My husband had their special of short ribs of beef. He often orders this dish and counted this one as excellent. Stuffed as I was, I had to try one of their homemade desserts. It was a fruit cobbler warmed just right. This is a long way from our home, but weâll definitely go back on our next Cape Ann visit.
