Many people who stay at the luxurious Wequassett Resort and Golf Club in Harwich, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod, stop at the elegant club-like bar called Thoreau's before they move on to dinner at the adjacent Twenty-Eight Atlantic restaurant. It's a habit that can become intoxicating. Well, Twenty-Eight is the highest rated restaurant on Cape Cod for good reason. But Thoreau's, which overlooks Pleasant Bay, offers a romantic change of pace with its leather tones, overstuffed chairs, stone and granite fireplace and steak-filled menu. We started with New England clam chowder and tomato bisque. For entrees, from the grill, we chose a 12-ounce dry aged ribeye and an eight-ounce center cut filet. But the seven-ounce halibut, swordfish and halibut were very tempting. So was the 12-ounce New York strip and fish and chips and braised beef short rib. The hand-whipped potatoes and steamed asparagus proved to be tasty sides. For dessert, we couldn't resist two unique, never-before-tasted chocolate coconut and strawberry chocolate chip ice cream. With restaurants like these, you don't have to leave the premises.Dear Taylor B,Thank you for your wonderful review of Thoreau's, we are thrilled that you enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Our sincere appreciation for taking a moment to highlight many aspects of your meal. Best wishes for a pleasant Fall season and we hope to see you again soon.Best regards,Josette C. Cocktails tasted like rotten fruit, food not that grate. My friend ordered stake tips well, came out medium. My fish tacos, usually soft tacos, werenât soft at all, fish over fried, served with just plane rice on side. The waitress was super nice tho, took our drinks from the check! Really good chowder!

Been passing this place for ten years and finally decided to try it. We were not impressed. The menu had a little of everything on it, and we tried a variety of different things. None of them were very good. The interior is dark and dated, and service was very average. There are too many good places around to go here, sorry.Sorry you were not impressed. We always wish for our customers to have a great experience, and most of them do. If you would like to contact me further about what meals you had, I would be happy to discuss any issues that came up. [email protected] Have a good summer!

Went here with friends that we hadn't seen for years. Had a great time catching up in a nice environment. Excellent conversation accompanied with excellent food. I'm always skeptical of a restaurant that offers a wide variety of foods and their ability to do it at an excellent level. Fear not for Jason's did a fantastic job with everything we ordered. I had Uncle Tony's platter, consisting of veal and chicken parmigiana a colossal meatball and pasta of choice. It was as good as any I've had in an Italian restaurant. The fish and chips and clams came with onion rings and french fries and were excellent. The steak tips delicious and as good as any steak house offering. Oh and I can't forget about the potato skins and mozzarella sticks. Four stars all around. Try it today!Thank you. Chef Eccles

We are open for Dinner, Wednesday- Sunday, Open at 5pm. 5-630pm - $1 Oysters. Live Music Thurs, Fri, Sat Three Bars, Main, Rawbar, and Outside Bar
Iâve been to this establishment many times. Within the last week twice for happy hour. ( Between 3pm and 5:30 ). The mid week experience was great. Dollar oysters and a nice air conditioned bar with sports on the TV. Beware of the 14-17$ cocktails... but thatâs the going rate these days- I guess... the second visit was less appealing. Exact set up and was looking forward to another round of oysters. Unfortunately two of the four shuckers went back to school. It took over an hour for the first 25 to arrive. It didnât even seem that crowded. Joe Biden was doing a campaign stop next door but it didnât interfere with our experience. Sorry, but Iâm leaving lower marks for the time it took to deliver the goods. On a Saturday with foot traffic is intense, be ready for customers.

The 400 East Restaurant & BarThe inside of this restaurant is so clean and well cared for, first-time visitors often think they've just opened. But the consistency of the wide variety of food items and efficient, friendly service evidence the excellence i
.Had a very satisfying lunch at 400 East Restaurant in Harwich on Cape Cod at the corner of Routes 39 & 137, halfway between Crocker Nursery on 137 in Harwich and the Ocean State Job Lot on Route 28 in Chatham. Quality, quantity, presentation, taste and price of the food was excellent. Service in the half-full restaurant could've been better. Was given a menu that was months out of date that got us salivating for items no longer available. Drink came with lemon instead of lime--but it did have a straw. Extra salad dressing never materialized. I was able to bring half of my Cobb salad home and had the leftover salad for breakfast the next morning..The place is much bigger than I remember from a previous visit years ago when I sat right in front, right near the door I came in. I had been visiting Emerald Physicians right next door. This time I was seated way, way in the back. There is a bar in the middle with about two dozen seats and there are two private rooms in the back, one of which was occupied by a private party; those people at the party sounded like they were having a VERY good time. There is plenty of parking as East is in a strip mall; however, parking spaces are narrower than they might've been, in my opinion. If you come in the back door, come to the front to be seated, please.

Warm atmosphere with great local fare and creative lunch and dinner specials. Great place for craft beer, inventive cocktails and delicious wines that won't break the bank. Great place to meet locals and visitors. Fun, fun, fun!!!
Had dinner here with my husband last Saturday. His tuna steak dinner was fine - Asian inspired and he enjoyed it. I ordered calamari plate. Awful. The calamari were not crispy and very rubbery, the fries undercooked and soggy, and the coleslaw tasted old. I did not eat the fries and slaw. After the meal we went to a concert where I got very sick and ended up in the emergency room via ambulance. Since the calamari were "revisited" so to speak, i feel they probably were bad. Needless to say, we won't revisit The Landyard.

Great, fun, casual spot with good pub food. The lobster roll is incredible and my friends have ordered it â to goâ numerous times.Ingredients FRESH and entrees good for sharing!Outdoor seating available. The owner donates a portion of money saved by NOT ACCEPTING credit cards to local nonprofits! One negative are the fruit flies which are always in attendance however.
