Originally part of Groton, it was incorporated February 14, 1871 and became a major commercial railroad junction. After the fire destroyed the previous Subway in Ayer on the other side of the street, it took a while for Subway to come back to Ayer. We are happy that it did! We like eating at Subway or getting subs for on the way. The choice is yours. Unlike some other sub restaurants you have a lot of influence on how your sub is made. All kinds of bread, cheese, meat, tosted or not, veggies. Yummie good!
had fresh made breads and sweets.... delicious :)they offer early morning coffee and pastries... even breakfast pizza

Not sure whether we were more impressed by the wonderful food or Rachel R. our wonderful server. Starting with Rachel--she was attentive and played along with the mood of our table (we were celebrating a birthday) and gave us plenty of time. She saw that one of the diners was having trouble deciding among the various drafts on offer and, without being asked, brought a small tasting flight. This resulted in a number of tasty Fiddlehead IPAs being ordered. From start to finish, she was a star. The party ordered steaks, 2 tenderloins and one hanger and a chicken pot pie (not made at home any more.) The steaks were cooked to perfection and the hangar was especially tender and flavorful even done medium rare. The frites with truffle oil and Parmesan were well seasoned and delightful. The chicken pot pie was as good as home made. A burrata and beet salad served as a side was large enough for all of us to share. Desert, again shared, was a sweet treat deconstructed smores cheese cake. For us, Gibbet Hill is a once in a while dining experience and this visit was made extra special by the quality of the service and the food.

In terms of ambiance, it felt better than the last time I was there. Last time it was much more rustic. There were 6 of us and the furnishings seemed more like second-hand. The dinner selections were from 2 establishments one from Marko's and one from it's parent, Lucia's. The food was average and unremarkable. This time we had chicken picata which was above average. However, the service missed the mark, perhaps due to a new wait person. It should be noted that the food selections are all cooked in Lucia's which is down the street. It's an odd setup and works nicely some of the time.

My husband and I just came back from breakfast! We wanted a new place to change things up. We enjoyed our breakfast. Nice and clean. Very bright with lots of windows and plenty of staff. We sat ourselves and was greeted instantly. My husband ordered eggs Benedict and I had the spinach feta omelette!! Both were great. Came with homefries which were great too! We will be going back for more! Try it out! You'll be glad you did! Thanks

Full service restaurant serving lunch and dinner in a casual, friendly, family friendly atmosphere. Our food will make you feel like you are right at home.
Not sure what I was expecting, since this restaurant is stand alone in a small "Commons" area that has two hotels, a gas station, a dry cleaner and a few other small retail shops. Desk clerk told me it was good and that man was correct! The bartender knows how to mix drinks and the chef can cook! Service is very good. Portions are large. First time in my life I could not finish a Shepherd's Pie...which was just the right mixture of chopped meat, corn, mashed potatoes and cheese. Had I finished this, I never would have room for the Italian Cream cake, which was light and---what else?...creamy. Lemony taste having a delicious conflict with the raspberry sauce on which it was served. Reasonable prices for the quality. I will return.

A great neighborhood quirky bar that has spectacular food and of course amazing pizza, Friendly restaurant. Walls filled with plaques, photos enough to keep you entertained, even if you are alone! Great selection of craft brews and believe if or not, if you are a fan of Michelob Amber Boch, that is the Nashoba Brew. Nightly specials. It is a rare time that I drive past this place that there are not cars lining the street....and yet I have never waited for a table. take out always available.

I was traveling on to Fort Devens and thought to have breakfast and spotted this tiny restaurant. It is in fact small. Folks here are most friendly and ordered a simple eggs and ham breakfast which was very well prepared and tasty. Good place to stop by for a quick eat and chat too. Has a homey old town feel. Really enjoyed it there.
