I'm pretty picky about tex-mex food, keep that in mind. Ordered the plate with cheese enchiladas, tamale and taco. Was good, not great. I prefer Mexican cheese over cheddar, honestly, they put too much cheese in the enchiladas. Tamale was small and almost no filling, taco was a plain old taco. Was pricey fro what you get, $20+ with a soda. Chips were fresh, salsa very mild. Had to ask for tortillas, which were good.

Guapo's has several locations around the DC region, including one on K St NW at Washington Harbour. The Tenleytown location on Wisconsin is closest to us. It has good seating outside for warm summer and fall evenings. The thin chips and salsa are great. We had the spicy guacamole served with thicker corn chips was excellent. We had some crispy tacos and a salad. The rice and beans served with the tacos were very good. Service is quick and the food is reliable good.

We came here strictly by chance. They have a great lunch special--$20/person--for all the tapas you want! Including delicious flan and churros. We split 7--bacon covered dates, tomato bread with serrano ham and manchengo cheese, meat empanadas, fried calamari, carne assada, asperagus and spicy meatballs. All very good. Highly recommend. Real Tapas place with innovative small plates (tapas). Meat/fish, vegetables, and starch are all available. They are good tasting and well prepared. They even have Tempernillo as a house wine-by-the-glass.I was really happy until someone started smoking a very strong and penetrating cigar somewhere in the back of the house. Offensive and illegal, and I couldn't exit quickly enough.

Order a few small plates to share, and enjoy. We ordered fewer plates than was recommended, but it was plenty for us. And the 'house wine' (bottled for Jaleo) was excellent. I will return as soon as I can.

We visited Bethesda and found Gringos & Mariachis to be very authentic Mexican food. The Staff was also quite friendly & quick. We will return again. Besides the food, they have quite a list of creative & unique drinks. We asked for some adjustments to some drinks, like replacing tequila for mezcal, and they gladly accommodated our requests. Net, very worthy experience.
