Brooke was an excellent waitress! Very good food for the price. My only problem was that the restrooms could have been cleaner

Jaleo brings alive the spirit and flavors of Spain with a menu reflecting the rich regional diversity of classical and contemporary Spanish cuisine, under the direction of renowned chef Jose Andres. Jaleo offers an impressive assortment of tapas, the trad
Admittedly, we went here with high expectations. Service was very good--friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We tried a number of dishes including the bacon wrapped dates, the shrimp with garlic, the baby squid sauteed with white beans, the grilled hanger steak and the patatas bravas. The shrimp, the hanger steak and the bravas were all good to very good, but didn't have the wow factor. The dates and the baby squid were OK at best. Went to another Andres' restaurant a few doors down the block, China Chilcano, and was blown away by the food. Perhaps it's just a matter of individual taste. That said, glad I tried it.

Oyamel combines Mexico's rich regional diversity with the modern urban atmosphere of Mexico City. The liveliness of the dining room is matched by the creativity of the menu and cocktail list, featuring antojitos-Mexican small plates-ceviches and tacos, pl
We went there for dinner without a reservation and were lucky to get in without a wait. The placed was packed at 5:30 when we arrived. The menu has a variety of small plates (tapas style). We decided to get their signature guacamole (made fresh right in the main dining area) and a six different types of tacos. Everything was very good. I noticed that they were having happy hour at the bar where you can get discounted Margaritas and tacosâwhich probably explains why that bar was jam packed. All in all, really good food in a cool atmosphere. This is another Jose Andres restaurant. They never disappoint.

My review is really for a 3.5 score. The menu reads like a dream; it made me think âwow i can get all of these great foods in one place?!â But thatâs also a risk because there is such a thing as core competencies; focusing on one thing and doing that one thing great. Here the separate peruvian, chinese, and japanese foods were executed just okay. The deconstructed lomo saltado was too modern and too salty; it tastes better at the local peruvian spot down the street made the way it was always done. The soup dumplings barely had any soup and cost an arm and a leg compared to much cheaper chinese restaurants. Give me dim sum over these overpriced, dried out dumplings. The idea of the soy sauce in a dropper was cute, but missing the vinegar component that elevates the dumplingâs taste. $12 for 6 pcs.The Dancing Yucca fries w/bonito flakes and the Shishito Peppers appetizers were tasty and the large portions justified the $9 pricetag for each. The Concolon at $22 was so yummy, but it really was just an overpriced pot of fried rice.Food is just okay, and you are definitely paying for the ambience.

I'm not sure how this got to be #65 of 2500+ DC restaurants. The service was pleasant and attentive, the decor a bit better than "hole in the wall", and the food was pretty quotidien. I enjoyed my meal, and the presentation was reasonably attractive, but I didn't find anything to write home about. I wouldn't be sad to end up here again, but there's a few hundred places I'd want to try first.
