Bethesda is an unincorporated, census-designated place in southern Montgomery County, Maryland, United States, located just northwest of the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. Good food for a buffet on a weekend. There was a good crowd during the lunch hour. It was a reassuring sign. White clothed tables, nice colors on the walls, uniformed waiters, and some good interior decorating give a nice touch to the restaurant. The buffet had ample choices. There were a lamb curry dish, two dry chicken dishes, one chicken curry, a couple of vegetarian dishes. The lamb curry was my favorite. The lamb was fresh, and could tell as it was not that chewy. The service was attentive and prompt. Sliced naan bread was bought to the table, this was fresh. Nice atmosphere for a good buffet meal.

Passage to India brings the so far unheard of regional Indian specialties to this city. Passage to India is beyond just an Indian restaurant - the dishes you eat are traditional recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation in kitchens
Yes, this restaurant received high ratings and I can see why. That being said, my wife and I did not enjoy it. The menu was limited to certain tastes - mostly curry-based. If you like curry, then go and enjoy. If you are excited by other flavors then go elsewhere.

In our ideal restaurant classic vegetarian dishes would be made from locally grown organic produce effused with Indian and Nepalese spices. Meats would be cooked high over hot charcoal in a tandoor (a traditional clay oven) allowing fats to drain, thereby
We tried this restaurant for a second time after nearly a year since our last visit. It was somewhat disappointing relative to a year ago. We tried the appetizer plate which was very good but the cilantro sauce was vinegary and relatively bland. The main entrees were all good but nothing out of the ordinary. The service was attentive and friendly, although admittedly there were few clients in the dining room. Options for alcoholic beverages are fairly limited with a few low end wines by the glass and a selection of beers. Decent place for Nepalese and Indian food but not inspired.

I rated Tandoori Nights as a 3, but my wife would give it a 4. There are things to like, especially the service. The menu has a few things not normally seen on an Indian menu, but most is standard fare. A tandoori chicken was dry in some parts. Salmon was pretty good, but we've had better. Other things were good or a bit better. Overall, I ended up at 3, average for an Indian restaurant at this price level. I'd come back here, but I'm in no rush to do so. The prices are okay, but it is Bethesda so you have to expect to pay a bit more.

When first enter, there is a smell of possibly moldy carpet. Really want to try the Nepalese dishes, decided to give a try. Unfortunately the "Heritage bread" has almost no content inside and was $4. The seafood curry with one piece of fish, 2 scallop and 2 overcooked shrimp was $19? The rice was barely lukewarm. Told the waitor about all these comments, he only said that they are short staffed. Anyway, would not return--should have gone to Penang, the Malaysian restaurant next door!
