Why go to a restaurant and get only one entree? Here you and your fellow diners can order different foods and sample a good bit of what they offer. All the food is great but do order the cheese where the waiter pours on a liquid and lights it. Quite the treat.

Tonightâs review is happening literally as I sit in Analias cafe. We stopped in to partake in some Greek food. Our choice entrees this evening were Spanakopita entree with salad and green beans and stuffed Eggplant with ground beef and lamb, which also came with a salad. Both dishes were flavorful. We tried the rice pudding for dessert. It was very tasty topped with bit of cinnamon. Jose, the owner was great and told us they also do catering for weddings and can host small dinner parties in their Jefferson street location. We enjoyed their fast and pleasant service. They also do a lot of take out orders. I would recommend Analiaâs.

On the chalkboard there was a special: mini-mezzo: 2 dip items from mezza menu + 1 mezza item...and then 3 exceptions.I began ordering by asking a lot of questions: was the lamb shawarma just lamb, or lamb and beef? Was the beer on special actually still on special? Was the mini-mezzo special $8? Then I apologized, saying "I don't want any surprises, that's why I ask all these questions." The waitress said, "We don't do that [surprise the customers] here!"I said "Good."Eventually the order came (long wait, as always...) There was 1 piece of kibbeh. I asked the waitress why there was only 1 piece of kibbeh, since the menu said "2 pieces". She said that's the way it came. I asked to see the menu again (maybe I made a mistake???). Nope. the menu said "2 pieces." The special on the board explicitly said "1 mezzo menu item" + the two dips. I asked the waitress how the customer was supposed to know that the mini-mezzo special actually had half the portion advertised on the menu? No answer. I then explained that that's why I asked all the questions at the beginning--I didn't want any surprises. Getting ½ the potion advertised qualifies as a "SURPRISE!!!!" in capital letters. No answer. Now I'll pause a second. What would a well-trained waitress do here? Easy: I'm sorry for the misunderstanding sir, I'll be right back with another piece of kibbeh." But no....too easy.So we never saw that waitress again. I asked the guy who brought the check "Are you just another waiter, or are you the manager." "I'm the manager." Pause again...at this point he could have said "I hear you were disappointed in the portion size. You're right--we didn't point that out. That was our mistake." But no....he went into a diatribe about me "disrespecting" the waitress and raising my voice. I'm still not clear how asking questions is "disrespecting" a waitress. And yes, my voice probably did go up a few decibels, corresponding with my blood pressure and frustration. Finally he offered to take the item off the bill. Great. Too little too late. All totally avoidable since either the difference in portions could have been noted on the board, in the menus, or the waitress could have pointed it out (esp. to a customer who emphasized they didn't want surprises." So if you go, don't be surprised if you're surprised!

One of my bosses recommended this place since she knows I love Italian...she was right. This is a lovely restaurant with a real Italian feel and décor...there is outdoor patio dining (which we had this time) which was delightful. We were the only ones there so it was just us and the soothing water sound of the fountain nearby. The enclosure was planted with many colorful blooms and the waiter was superior. We also discovered a new beer that day because he let us sample it. Great job, Bella!
