I made my reservation thru AirB&B and did not have any problems. This place is magnificent. The beach is steps away from any dome. The dome we stayed was clean, it had its own bathroom and A/C unit. Our host was super friendly and provided information as to nearby areas that we can visit. We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

Almonds and Corals, nestled amongst the exuberant jungle of Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge in Costa Rica, offers three in one unique destinations, because it is part an exclusive Caribbean beach resort, part a safari camp and part an eco-conscious boutique hotel. The owners are devoted to offer one-of-a-kind accommodations awaiting your arrival and a unique sensory experience that promotes harmony between inner and outer self.
Our 4 night stay was a nightmare. Rooms are old and poorly maintained. Electricity went down several times diring our stay. Food is average and some of the options in the menu were not available. Hotel dors not have a poeer generator for emergencies.

Welcome to "Se Ua" ("our home" in indigenous language)! This is a rustic, thatched-roof style Bed&Breakfast located in the jungle, just 500 meters from "Playa Grande", Manzanillo. Here is the perfect place for nature lovers who wish to relax or to discover the area through visits and activities guided by Warren and Wilfran, the 2 enthusiastic owners. More than a hotel, "Se Ua" is a magical place with a special energy, born from their desire to live in harmony with nature and to provide an unforgettable experience to people from all around the world. Made of wooden decor and tropical-style furnishings, the rooms are simple but spacious and cozy, with free Wi-FI, comfortable beds, a private bathroom and a terrace. Or you can choose one of our apartments to have your own equipped kitchen. Another wooden building features a bar and lobby where you can have breakfast, have a drink or just relax and share good vibes! All these authentic installations are located in a tropical garden, which itself is surrounded by the rain forest. You will have a chance to see various species of birds, monkeys, sloths, iguanas, butterflies and many others... "Se Ua" is also the "House of Adventure": we can arrange all outdoors activities (snorkeling, surfing, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking, canopy tours...) And any visits around (Gandoca Wildlife Refuge, indigenous reserve, waterfalls, lagoons, tree house observatory...). Our packaged tours are quite unique since you will drive to each place in buggy for more fun! Manzanillo Town Centre (with its restaurants, bars and shops) is a 2-minute drive by car, or a 5-minute ride on bicycle (for rent). Puerto Viejo (with less beaches and less jungle but with more tourists and party places) is a 15-minute drive by car or bus. Limon Airport can be reached in a 1-hour drive, and San Jose in 4h30 with comfortable buses. We can arrange transfers from all these places (with extra cost).
I went there for one night, and it was the worst night of my trip. The owners have 3 dogs, who can walk freely in the hotel, and who stinks. So in the room, it stinks dog feces, at the reception too, and the sheets too. All the hotel stinks doc feces, and it’s hey . So in the room, you can’t breathe by the nose. When we arrived, they had do « clean the room » while we were eating, but when we came back, the floor was dirty (you walk 5 meters in the room and your feet are black), and we didn’t have water. I think they could wash their dogs to respect the customer, and mopping the floor in the rooms.

A small and simple hotel just in from of the spectacular beach of Manzanillo. Simple, authentic and Caribbean. 400 meters from Manzanillo national park and walking distance from punta uva. Pura Vida. The on site restaurant serves breakfast lunch and dinner and offers full bar and an extensive wine list. Relax in the beach loungers in the beach in front of the hotel and let our team make you do nothing
If you want a genuine warm welcome and want to stay in a authentic simple accommodation then this is the place for you. Nicolas, Marcella and Poseidon the dog will look after you like you are part of the family. I booked 2 nights and I’m now 8 nights into such a relaxing stay. Poseidon runs up to me like a lost friend, and is so friendly. He is also a superb guard dog at night which is also reassuring. Sun loungers are free to use , the beach is a 20 feet away and I can see and hear the waves from my room. Running alongside the hotel is their restaurant which is EXCEPTIONAL. Andreas and Christina are part of a team that ensured I was looked after perfectly. From free iced water whilst on the beach to teaching me some Spanish - nothing was too much trouble. The guys work so hard all the time ! If you are looking for immaculate air con rooms, fancy tv’s and a perfect white Swan towel each morning then this is not for you. If you want superb value , amazing food, caring owners, attentive staff and a fantastic beach just feet away then you will not be disappointed. Manage the room expectations with price and be blown away by the sheer quality of the food, location and service you receive. 10/10

We LOVED our stay! Our room was so cozy and the beach nearby is beautiful. The pool and the amenities were great too. The manager who works there made us feel so welcomed and happy. Definitely recommend and would come again :)

Congo Bongo is located in the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge on the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica and surrounded by a rich variety of flora and fauna. The beautiful Caribbean Sea is just a few steps away. We have seven fully equipped ecolodges accommodating between three and seven guests. You will enjoy the peace and quiet of the tropical jungle and you will live an unforgettable experience.
I stayed here twice. 10 days in total. We liked it so much that we decided to spend our last week in Costa Rica here. It's a beautiful secret place. Sleep in the sounds of the jungle, the kitchen is open with the most gorgeous view. We saw lots of animals and plants. Access to the beach is awsome, an adventure in itself. The kids love it here. Thank you Congo Bongo for a wonderful holiday.

Really basic place but clean with good sized rooms, comfy beds and fans to keep you cool. Seemed safe and each room has outside space with a table and couple of chairs to chillout at. The guy who ran it was really nice and very chilled out. It's a short walk from the beach and there are a couple of restaurants very nearby, although everything is nearby in this little town. We were there just as Corona lockdown started so it was pretty quiet generally but the beach is nice and people were friendly.

El personal de Casa Luka and Rio es extremadamente amable, eficiente y disponible. Sólo por eso vale la pena alojarse con elles, porque sabes que siempre que lo necesites van a estar por ti y hacerte sentir como en casa.

We offer beautiful, cozy rooms and our various jungle tours.
Four of us, two couples, stayed here 12 nights at the end of February and beginning of March. Had reserved the two rooms upstairs but ended up staying downstairs the first two nights as the upper was not yet vacated. I would give the upper a 4 and the lower a 2. The upper is much more 'airy'. The location is literally on the edge of town and is great for wildlife viewing. Beautiful tall flowers abound which attracted a huge variety of hummers, butterflies, birds and lizards which we would watch up close off our deck/outdoor covered kitchen area. The howler monkeys woke us up every morning at 5:45 and we watched them every evening while making dinner. You share the deck/kitchen with the other room room so for us travelling together it worked out great! The fridge is a little small but otherwise the countertops were large, stove worked perfectly and it was easy to keep uncluttered and clean. The rooms are large, bathrooms simple, and they have large walk-in showers with good hot water. The beds were the typical for-the-area foam pads and were comfortable, and had the proper bug netting. Mosquitoes were not an issue while we were there and we left the windows wide open the entire time. There was an electrical snafu in our room so our ceiling fan didn't work, so a noisy floor fan had to keep the air moving. There is no A/C. Be aware that you are here on your own. The cleaning lady Marina would stop by in the morning to check on things and ask if we needed our rooms cleaned. She did great. The area is beautiful. It is a 7 minute walk to the water. The beaches are beyond description and many times we were the only souls on 4 miles of sand. Be sure to do a jungle walk with Omar the guide. After hiking with him for 4 hours we did a lot of solo trips on our own. Rent your bikes and kayaks from Bad Bart’s Rentals. We rode up to Punta Uva, Cocles and Puerto easily in half a day. Lots of decent 'sodas' in town to eat with Cool and Calm being our local favorite. Maxi's is good but way over-priced. Best to stock up on groceries and beer in Puerto Viejo as local supplies are pricey. We bought a lot of produce and seafood off the supply trucks that come into town daily. If you see one parked go talk to them. They will sell as cash is king. People here are friendly and helpful, and proud of their small village. Someday I will be back...
