@JW @Pauline S. Can confirm your reviews, in fact, you might have been too kind. I've brought my family there for over fifteen years and food generally good, sometimes exceptional like the crispy oyster omelette "oh-chien" (4.5 stars) - and my personal favourite - "poh piah" wraps (5 stars). The lovely old lady, the owner is a delight. SERVICE? I hate to say this, but the nouveau generation of younger family management (daughter-in-law?) is arrogant to a fault. I am doing the best I can - after 1 hour of waiting - 'take it or leave it' - and "if you don't like our food, go away because some other mug is just around the corner to love us". "You stupid customers are just lucky we put up with you because we're the bees knees in Malaysian cuisine". Sheesh. Listen guys! You've been warned. There are better Malaysian restaurants elsewhere.

The Straits Cafe is as plain an establishment as you can imagine. Fluro tubes, vinyl tiles, simple wooden tables... but you won't find better quality (and better value) Malaysian food anywhere.We've dined here very happily many times and because we've just returned from Malaysia we were hanging out for a Char KwayTeo and a Laksa. As usual the Straits delivered a very tasty and very authentic version of same. Two great Penang hawker staples (with tea) for $24. Need I say more?

We have dined on multiple occasions at Pappa Rich Doncaster. This is a successful international chain restaurant offering good honest Malaysian Hawker style food with consistency. There is a play area for kids inside which was convenient. Staff were friendly and efficient: you place order on a sheet of paper and press the buzzer to get the waiter over. Comprehensive drink list with a new menu which highlights the signature dish over the first few pages. We always had a good-qaulity meal here at Pappa Rich. It is pricier but you pay for the services and the comfortable setting.

Thanks to tapau express, I can finally enjoy delivered colonial cafe meals in the cbd. This review is for their bak kut teh which is great taste wise but they should change their canned button mushrooms with shitakke mushroom & include a couple of pork ribs.

Our first impression was a sparsely furnished location. However once we were ready to select our meals we were warmly served by the staff. When our meals arrived we were all pleasantly surprised. Ample serving sdizes which were tasty. All four of our party expressed satisfaction at our selections. By the time we left the restaurant was full of patrons all enjoying their meals. We would certainly return.
