Baden-Wurttemberg’s second-largest city after Stuttgart, Mannheim lies at the confluence of the Rhine and Neckar Rivers and is rare among German cities for its layout, a grid pattern (or “quadrates”) similar to those found in North America. The grid was originally plotted in 1606 and emanated from Friedrichsburg fortress, which later became the site of Mannheim Palace. Today, it partly houses the University of Mannheim. The city’s iconic water tower and its beautiful Luisenpark are must-sees.

I usually try different locations in Mannheim when visiting my companies HQ, chose the GuestHouse this time as I liked the idea of a studio. Also, the location is excellent in the center and close to the train station. First disappointment was the size of the room. The pictures on booking.com are not the regular rooms, see the pictures of other reviewers here. The regular room is basically 2 beds and a desk, and not much more space besides that. Biggest issues for us was that on Friday and Saturday night, the bass sounds from a club around the corner were clearly audible in room 110, and that went on till about 4 or 5 in the morning. Won't be staying here again, as there are many other nice hotels around in Mannheim.

The Wasserturmhotel is a cozy Stadthotel, furnished in a Jugendstil style. This family-run hotel has spacious double rooms with a homely atmosphere, as well as comfortable single rooms equipped with French beds. The restaurant offers Italian cuisine ... but is currently closed due to conversion. Our reception is open daily from 7:00h - 22: 00h. An electronic keyboy is available for late arrivals. Therefore please always specify the mobile phone number for reservations.
The hotel is conveniently located, suprisingly well renovated and furnished, but do not expect much help from the front desk. It looked deserted and creepy, as the hotel is a part of a regular inhabited building with no proper signage. Good luck with finding where to go and how to.

Wonderful! Kleiner Rosengarten is a beautiful hotel and restaurant in itself, but it's great persons who makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE! The professional, friendly and people-loving receptionist Christina, certainly went out of her way to make absolutely certain that we were having a fantastic stay. We joked and told her "If we had a hotel anywhere in the world, we would hire you in a heartbeat!" Kleiner Rosengarten is an elegant family-run hotel with all the latest facilities one could ask for. Yet, there are so many hotels in the world with a high standard, yet so few have genuinely friendly staff that make a stay memorable and special. Christina is well worth her weight in pure gold. We will come back, and so should you! ?

2,50 x 1,00, also 2,50 qm.

The worst hotel I have ever seen. Very rude personal. Lots of rats and insects. Awful breakfast. Insects and rats are everywhere. Stuff is always nervous, especially the owner. Hotel doesnt cost even 1 star

This is a great B&B in one of Mannheim's most popular neighborhoods (the Rhine is 2 min away, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, supermarkets are within a 5 min walking distance, 10 min to downtown by tram, train station within walking distance). The owners are very friendly/helpful and the rooms cozy and clean (wooden floors, IKEA furniture; wi-fi and phone included). The B&B is located in a historic building, hence there is no elevator and many of the rooms are located on the 4th floor, however, the owners offer to carry the luggage upstairs for you if needed. Most rooms also come with an assigned fridge space in the shared kitchen (which works well, since clearly marked), so you can store some food items (make sure to ask for a room with fridge space if this is something you want to use). The B&B collaborates with one of Mannheim's best bakeries (Grimminger), so ask for a breakfast voucher at the reception desk - it will get you a Continental breakfast for 4 Euro. If you want a more elaborate breakfast/lunch I highly recommend Cafe Meerwiesen, which is a modern, yet quaint cafe less than 5 min by foot. Most rooms were booked during my stay, but it was quiet and the shared bathroom was no issue, since it was clean, and available when needed. I stayed here during a heat-wave and being on the top floor I was expecting a very hot room, however it was well enough insulated, so if you follow the instructions and roll down the shutters & close the windows during the day, the room retains a comfortable temperature (I spent a lot of time in the room working and had no issues). The kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave, dishwasher, water cooker, coffee maker and other kitchen utensils. The B&B also offers a laundry service (wash & dry) for 5 Euro. There's really everything you need. This is a great place at an incredible value. Yes, the room doesn't come with room service, but at less than 40 Euro/night I'm very happy to make my own bed. ;) I look forward to visiting again in the future!

I had a quite different experience.I was from 20 to October 30 in Hausbaron and I must say my stay was without comments. The building was fresh renovated, my room was quiet enough and they have a service hotline, where I ordered more towels. The woman was very kind and she was speaking german, yes OK not like german teacher, but I could understand her.For this money you can not expect more.

We were staying in the top floor. The room was hot like a sauna and the bathroom was located behind two doors and mainly closer to the other rooms in that floor. We were given only one key per room, so it was impossible to keep the door open/locked if we had different schedules. On top of that, even though smoking was forbidden, the hotel manager himself was smoking inside and the corridors reaked of tobacco smoke. Some of the hotel guests apparently lived there for longer times as well. Cigarette butts were found in the lavatory, which I have the impression were not cleaned very often. That was highly unpleasant. If you choose this place, ask to see the room first, for your own good.
