Find out what International restaurants to try in Winnipeg. Any city that can be the butt of a Simpson's joke ("That's it! We're all going back to Winnipeg!") and simultaneously one of the most vibrant cultural centers in Canada is tops in our book. The city's history of isolation and self-sufficiency means that Winnipeggers are unpretentious and sincere (and fun-loving enough to name Homer an honorary citizen). Though the winters are long and cold, there are plenty of indoor activities to both keep you warm and stimulate your imagination.

Everything about this was such a treat. Extensive dinner menu and bar menu. Lots of options. Everything was delicious, the drinks, apps, dinner and dessert. Atmosphere and service was wonderful. There was lots of neat character in the building, and we had a gorgeous view of Portage and Main. Will return and recommend to our friends!

Saucers Cafe is a little neighbourhood spot in the best neighbourhood in town! We offer a great selection of sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and a huge variety of loose leaf teas brewed in personal brewing pots. Over the past 14 years we have worked to source o
I was taken here for lunch when visiting from the UK. This busy restaurant manages to serve and cope amazingly quickly with nearly all the tables taken! We had a very bright and cheerful server who patiently explained several things on the menu for me.The Cheddar and broccoli soup was wonderful and the Quesadilla was amazing. As for dessert -wow!!Compared to so many other places we had eaten in Canada which were overpriced and poor quality, when I paid the bill I thought I was only being charged for my meal!!Thank you so much for coming such a long way to visit us ;) I will be heading over the pond this month. I hope I get the same great service over there!

I ate here on a busy sunny evening. The patio outside was crowded but I prefer eating inside anyway. It was quieter inside but clearly everyone was busy. My waitress was very pleasant and the service was good. The food was ok - moderately cold to be honest but not cold enough for me to send it back. Decent enough place and clearly popular.

Enjoy seasonal flavors with a Manitoban flare in the Velvet Glove Restaurant. Celebrated as The Place to Be for over 30 years, Velvet Glove Restaurant has received numerous accolades, among them, En Route Magazine's top 100 restaurants to visit in Canada.
I had communicated with Daniel a couple weeks before our arrival regarding dietary restrictions and found him to me most accommodating. I looked forward to thanking him personally but he was not on shift that night. There will be more opportunities. Our celebratory dinner was fantastic! After being seated, our server, Joanna, gave me a couple options and I chose the lamb Sirloin with capers and roasted tomatoes, which Gee in the kitchen cooked to perfection and I thoroughly enjoyed! My husband said his salmon on creamed spinach was also delicious and cooked to his liking. Dessert, complimentary for the occasion, was shared Crème brûlée and finished the meal off nicely. Our package included breakfast the next morning and our server - Rob or Roy (sorry canât recall), said we could have anything from the menu, including orange juice and coffee. The Healthy Start (poached eggs on avocado naan bread with roasted tomato and basil salad) was my choice. The bowl it was served in was a bit awkward to eat out of but that didnât stop me from enjoying every last bite. My husbandâs choice was the the Side by Each, which he said also hit the spot.Thank you for not only choosing our Velvet Glove Restaurant for your celebratory dinner, but for taking the time to leave your glowing review.Chef Daniel, and our entire culinary team prides themselves on making each an every meal memorable, and it sounds as if they hit their mark during your recent stay. I will be sure to share your comments with out entire team, as I know your feedback will serve as a reminder that all of their passion and dedication does not go unnoticed. We are so delighted to hear that you enjoyed your experience, and we look forward to having the opportunity to welcome you and your husband back for many celebrations to come!Kind regards,Kyla StewartGuest Relations Manager

Cafe Carlo is a friendly, unpretentious Canadian bistro.Cafe Carlo's menus have always looked to the world's favorite dishes, and by putting its unique stamp on it creates an experience to be craved. We feature "real cooking", from scratch, made in-house
Our party of four recently attended Cafe Carlo based on the unsolicited recommendation of a stranger who overheard our conversation about where we should go for dinner. We were advised that this was one of those 'must try' restaurants in Winnipeg, and they were right.Tucked away on a side street just off of one of Winnipeg's trendiest avenues, Cafe Carlo doesn't particularly stand out from the crowd and is likely why none of us had ever heard of it or seen it before. The restaurant itself is fairly nondescript on the exterior but it is noticeably clean, modern, and tastefully decorated on the interior. We found all of the staff warm and friendly.Upon ordering drinks, we began our dinner with a shared plate of perfectly fried Calamari. It's rather important to note that very few restaurants can boast about their skill in preparing such a finicky cephalopod, but Cafe Carlo nailed it! Soft and tender on the inside with a light and crunchy batter on the outside...it was culinary perfection! One of our guests ordered the curry chicken salad as their starter and refused to share a bite, so that's rather telling! The other ordered crispy prawns with a killer ginger sauce and everyone at the table was lapping up the leftover sauce with whatever remaining item they had available including calamari, lettuce, bread, and fingers! Cafe Carlo can totally bottle this stuff and sell it.Our mains arrived shortly thereafter and in timely fashion. Granted, we were dining on a Thursday evening and the restaurant was only about 1/3 full, so I cannot properly report on what their meal service would have been like during prime time, but for mid-week, it was spot on. My wife ordered one of her all-time favorite dishes, the Canelloni, which was perfectly prepared and very tasty by most anyone's standards, except that to me, Canelloni will always just be Canelloni. It's basically a tomato and cheese sauce baked inside a pasta shell. Yeah, it was good, but I have yet to try one so incredible that I would feel compelled to write home about it. However, if you like Canelloni as much as my wife does, this one was as good as it gets. I decided to order the hand-made Potato Gnocchi in Pesto Sauce simply because the true measure of any good Italian-inspired restaurant is how well they can prepare an in-house Gnocchi and pesto. The verdict: Outstanding! I found the potato / pasta mixture slightly lopsided on the potato side, but it was pan fried to a crisp perfection and mouth-wateringly scrumptious in the accompanying savory pesto sauce. My only major critique was that the portion size was sorely lacking to the extent that everyone else at the table felt sorry for me and kept offering me their own food rather than sampling a taste of mine. (Note to the Restaurateurs: Gnocchi is a relatively inexpensive potato and semolina dumpling and not a dry-aged filet mignon. At $23, a third more volume would have made me sing your praises even louder)Our dinner guests selected the Meaty Penne and the Pappardelle, as I properly recall, and both of them continuously raved about their food and vowed to return here again. Within our small consortium of self-declared food snobs, the entire meal was a solid 4 out of 4...which is exceedingly rare. Nicely done, Cafe Carlo! Admittedly, the mixed drinks were a wee bit pricier than expected, as others have mentioned, but it was all part of an enjoyable dining experience. The appetizers and mains, however, are all well within the price range for a fine dining establishment.Thank you Cafe Carlo! We'll be back.Thank you Edventurous,We look forward to seeing you again sometime.

This was a lovely Christmas gathering with family. We had a cozy reservation where we were greeted and seated immediately. Despite the weather with the snow falling, eventually our entire party arrived and our orders were promptly taken. The service was quick as each course was served in a timely manner; each being tasty including the dessert of chocolate mousse. We all much enjoyed our individual appetizers and meals. I would definitely return and can recommend this hidden gem!

At Maxime's the warm, inviting atmosphere provides the perfect setting for every occasion. The family still emphasizes freshly prepared classic favorites & engaging hospitality to create a dining experience that is relaxing, enjoyable and most importantly
We recently celebrated my mother's 60th Birthday at Maxime's. We were a party of about 30, and the food and service were excellent. Even though we were a relatively large group, food was served to everyone at the same time, we never had to wait for wine or drink top ups, and the private room we had for the party really made us feel at home. The servers Jen and Paul were very accommodating, answered all of our questions, and really aimed to make it a pleasant experience for everyone. Thank you to Maxime's for making this a memorable event.
