High in the Eastern Sierra of California is the growing ski resort town of Mammoth Lakes, surrounded by alpine beauty and majesty. Powdered peaks of the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and surrounding wilderness draw skiers, snowboarders, snowmobilers and ice skaters every winter. Summers are quieter and less crowded, but vacationers in search of the path less traveled will find secluded biking and hiking trails, rushing rivers, icy mountain lakes, green golf courses and breathtaking scenery.

Great bakery in Mammoth Lakes specializing in sheepherders bread, sandwiches and a "komisch night" interior. Schat's bakeries are found in both Bishop and Mammoth Lakes. They offer coffee and lunch sandwiches.
Schat's (Aaron and Shea) are famous in Bishop and Mammoth Lakes---genius entrepreneurs here. Mammoth Lakes is known for world class skiing on par with (Vienna) and welcomes "Friends of Dorothy."
Loads of sweets and warm rolls perfect on a snowy day. Did not try coffee here. Say hi to Aaron in Bishop---bbq is wow---and salad offerings were interesting.

Mammoth Rock Brasserie is our French inspired restaurant upstairs at Mammoth Rock 'n' Bowl. The restaurant has incredible views, with beautiful food and menu created by Chef Frederic Pierrel. There is additional seating on the outdoor deck for beautiful sunny days. We also offer a private chef's room just off the kitchen for extra special treatment. We do not offer a children's menu and expect any children in the restaurant to be well behaved, to stay in their seats and to keep their voices to a normal speaking level.
Mushroom strudel appetizer (concentrated wonderful flavor and not at all lost in a sauce, Old fashioned shrimp cocktail done well. 2 plates of elk medallions (pepper sauce I think), orange potatoes and decorative vegetables. Homemade buttermilk berry ice cream (grainy), apple tart- wonderful. Iced tea. No liqueur $125 for 2.
Downstairs bowling alley with artsy background and very friendly. Casual dining with an interesting menu.

Quaint restaurant that specializes in Prime Rib. We didn't have reservations but they sat us right away. Of course we had to have the Prime Rib; and it was delicious! Staff were friendly and service was fast. We would definitely go back on our next visit to Mammoth!

We went to Stellar Brew for breakfast on our trip around 395 route. I have to say that it is a wonderful place. Small but so nice. And the product is of superior quality. Mainly home made and natural and organic products. Coffe, tea, bakery... just impressive. Nice service and fair prices.

I dropped in here on our last day for a quick lunch. We were quickly and courteously seated and provided the menu. The fair is typical for burger place: burgers, salads and a few other sandwiches. We placed our order for 1/4 pound burger and rather quickly our food was in front of us. Everything was well presented and well prepared. The burgers were cooked perfectly and that he produce fresh and crisp. The taste was excellent.
Our server made sure our glasses never went dry and she frequently checked in to see if we needed anything. All in all a terrific place to have a meal.

I've been coming to Mammoth forever. Good Life Cafe is the best breakfast place in town. Great breakfast burritos, sure, but fabulous chili Verde rancheros or the shredded beef rancheros! Daily specials, fresh squeezed juices...carrot, orange, grapefruit.... Casual seating, great food, reasonable prices.

Dine at The Restaurant at Convict LakeJust 10 Minutes from Mammoth Lakes! The Restaurant at Convict Lake is widely recognized as the finest restaurant in the Eastern Sierra and a "locals" choice for special occasions. Dine in a romantic and casually elegant location just 10 minutes from Mammoth Lakes across from the Mammoth/Yosemite Airport.
The restaurant has been there since 1959. Some of the menu items are stuck in the 70s, e.g. Beef Wellington and Bananas Foster. It's a rustic setting. Our table had a window overlooking a campsite with kids running around.
We started off with the Burgundy Escargot, failing to notice they came encroute. However, the pastry was tender and flaky, the escargot had a hint of garlic butter. We love the classic escargot swimming in garlic parsley butter where you can dip your French bread into it. This wasn't bad, just not our preference.
Next we had the Field Greens salad with smoke bacon and pickled vegetable relish. I didn't like it, too tart. The pickled vegetables over powered everything.
For the entree we had the short ribs. They were tender but very fatty with gristle.
It seemed like everything just missed. We wouldn't go back.
