Located in beautiful Saratoga County, the Ripe Tomato is a friendly, family-owned and operated dining experience that sets it apart from chain restaurants. We offer simple, hearty Italian and American fare prepared using fresh, local ingredients.
We have been going to the Ripe Tomato for many years but mainly with just a small family group. This time we had a birthday party with eighteen people attending and the food and service were great and did not disappoint. We were not rushed out after our meal and everyone enjoyed themselves in the room that we had off the main dining area. Would recommend for couples, family and large groups.

Wife and I first went to Lakeridge back in the day when there was an enclosed porch/deck - today, space is actually the second dining room. But the point is that we've been going there for many years, and we go back because it is dependably outstanding.
Our most recent excursion was on our son's birthday. We had called the day before to book a table - necessary because this is a very popular place. We were seating in the main dining room with a nice view of the fireplace on this cold January night.
Service was outstanding - waitress was friendly and efficient.
Wife is not a beef person, but she went out of character to have the small filet offered as part of the special 2018 menu. She reported that it was outstanding.
Son (a trained chef) had the seafood stew - a mixture of salmon, scallops, mussels and shrimp in a garlic safron tomato broth. It was great fun watching him devour that dish, and then sop up the leftover broth with some of the excellent bread.
I had one of the daily specials - grillled Chillean sea bass served with a fig compote and arugula. Simply to die for!
Lakeridge is not a cheap restaurant, but it really is a great place to go on special occasions.
Most of our recent visits have been at noon (they offer a nice luncheon menu).
In addition to the point about booking ahead, another issue to be aware of is parking. Lakeridge is located in the quaint village of Round Lake, and parking is a challenge. There is absolutely no parking on the narrow streets! If you have lived in the area for a while, you may recall that the main street through the village was the link between Interstate 87 and Route 9. Today, there is a bypass around the village, and the speed limit on the main street has been reduced dramatically. There is also a stop sign at every intersection to try to control traffic flow through the village. Lakeridge does have a number of spaces in front, and there is a lot behind the restaurant (that can get icy in winter). There is a church across the street that has a parking lot that is available most evenings, but it is about a block away. Even through efforts have been made to manage traffic, it is important to be careful since you must walk along that main street, and there are no sidewalks.

You would think, "Oh it's just a chain...how different can it be?". Let me answer. This is one of the cleanest dining places I've ever visited. Immaculate! The staff was extremely friendly. You get the feeling they actually like their jobs. Smiles all around. Best DD I have ever been to.

The minute you walk in this adorable little establishment you feel at home. The smells alone make you nostalgic. It's chocked full of tasty, fresh, homemade one of a kind desserts. Lunch is varied and the quiches the best! My cousin makes a 45 mile trip every week to eat here just for the quiches. There are hot soups in the winter and the best sammies around.

After visiting a local breakfast shop and being told there was a 40 minute wait we looked for an alternative and found Wired coffee and bagel. Service was quick, food was fresh and staff was very friendly. They offer wraps, omelettes, and many other options as well as great tea and coffee selections. If you are in the area give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Next Door Kitchen & Bar shares a love and appreciation of using foods that are fresh, approachable and unique. We pride ourselves on using foods grown in our own garden located on Science Street in Ballston Spa. The site is soil quality tested, supplemented by organic products and composting materials and maintained by ND executive chef and owners. "It's wonderful to get the experience of growing the produce and items that are served to our patrons" states Chef Strom. Owners Matthew Hall and Chris Fignar are thrilled that produce will supplement or wholly source menu items during the summer months. Additionally, the team attempts to serve items grown from local farms and small production vendors. We seek to create dishes that are inspired by traditional comfort food with contemporary flair. The cuisine is unpretentious yet has depth and complexity. Chef Jeffrey Strom brings with him a unique blend of techniques and creativity that sets his food apart. The service is refined and friendly. Our servers are highly knowledgeable regarding the menu items, purveyors, wine list, craft beer selection and offerings of unique cocktails with boutique distill ingredients. Our wine and cocktail lists were created with small production, family owned and sustainable practices in mind. Our unique wine list is in keeping with our mission and offers a fresh approach to impeccable wines. Distilleries chosen reflect our high standards and are local when possible including those from Greenfield, NY and other small batch single pot distilled distilleries. Our craft draught beer selection is strictly New York sourced. Hall states that "with so many outstanding NY craft beers, it was a great opportunity to stay local and offer great craft beers that showcase NY breweries". ND offers only the highest quality products in a comfortable and eclectic atmosphere. We designed a space that is warm and inviting with copper accents, local oil paintings and custom crafted lighting with hand blow glasswork. The newly renovated dining room was designed using locally reclaimed barn wood and barn door pulled from locations in Brandt Lake and Ballston Spa, NY. The barn door was located on Middleline Road and had once been on a barn owned by Hezekiah Middlebrook ; one of the founders of Ballston Spa. Renovations of the restaurant were supported by local construction, glass blower, artisan painters and copper craftsman. The restaurant is a warm and inviting atmosphere with unique touches that make it a perfect neighborhood space to enjoy great food and company.
We live in neighboring Saratoga Springs which is thought to have most of the area's finest restaurants. Not so. This place is terrific. The food is inventive without being trendy and downright delicious. We loved our meals and will definitely return. The service was not quite as good as the food but they were exceptionally busy. The one real disappointment was the noise level which made it really tough to hear among our small party of 4. Next time, weather permitting, we will eat outside. Loved this place. Great bars too!

Here at Iron Roost, we dare to be different. Our specialty is gourmet waffles, but it really is so much more!! Kind service, a cozy atmosphere, and some of the best darn coffee you'll ever sip on. We are passionate about what we do, and take pride in the quality and uniqueness of our product. We use only the finest and freshest ingredients to create dishes that will fill your belly and warm your heart. We hope you enjoy your experience as much as we did creating it. Thank you. Long live the waffle!
Breakfast was delicious and coffee was good. We ate outside and wish we had waited for inside table since as soon as the food arrived so did the local flying insects. It was a beautiful fall day so it was still lovely to be outside.

Carson's Woodside Tavern is serving up an irresistible assortment of American fare that truly reflects the diverse combination of cultural influences that make our country so awesome. You can go "all-American" with a classic burger or the perfect prime rib, or enjoy pasta dishes (inspired by our chef's family roots in Italy), Cajun flavors, spicy Mexican appetizers, house-made German bratwurst (knockwurst, sauerbraten and sauerkraut during Oktoberfest!), Irish corned beef and cabbage in March (don't forget the Guinness!), and French influences in our sauces and specials. And of course, we have house-made soups daily, a wide variety of side and entree salads, and vegan and gluten-free options. In other words, there's something for everyone at Carson's!
Ok, so we’ve made two visits in the last 10 Days.
I’ve just give 4 stars to a ritzy restaurant in Schenectady......but in my mind Carson’s deserves the 5 stars for best bang for your buck.
Super family friendly, we’re used to eating at a chain for a treat, can’t believe our 6 year old now asks for Carson’s over Applebee’s and the chain restaurants.
Great pub/family fare menu, friendly staff, great views.
Appreciate your vegetarian options, thank you, thank you !!!

Everything in the kitchen sink (a menu item with tomatoes cream sauce penne, shrimp, sausage and chicken.) - delicious. Not hard to pick this item off menu even though it requires a decision for 2-4 people to share one dish. 2 people are and we left with enough food for have dinner completely for another night. Total bill $32 for one dish but huge family style quantities. Scrumptious flavor. Wine was $12 per glass - a little pricey but there were less expensive options I didn't notice on the menu. A special on the menu could have me return just to try.llit was an acorn squash filled with soup, loaded with shrimp - it looked delicious and unique. So wish the family could open another restaurant in Albany as there truly isn't another competitor I can even think of that comes close to as good as this was. Wish I lived in Ballston Spa.
