Makrinitsa (Greek: Μακρινίτσα), nicknamed "balcony of Mt. Pelion," is a village and a former community in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Volos, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 59.903 km. It is situated in the northwestern part of the Pelion mountains, 6 km northeast of Volos. One of the most characteristic traditional settlements, full of mansions and houses that look like hanging ornaments on the green mountain side. One of the traditional coffee houses is decorated with a fresco by the famous Greek painter Theofilos. The picturesque cobbled paths of Makrinitsa are scattered with traditional water fountains. Makrinitsa is a popular tourist destination, especially during the winter.

Portaria seemed like a nice village. The taxi driver recommended this place. We took a taxi from volos for 17 euros.
The restaurant was in the main plaza of the village. It had a nice fire place and felt really wintery. We thought it was expensive compared to other restaurants in the area. The food was really heavy on our stomachs because it was extremely oil. As a result we had a hard time sleeping at night. The ambience of the restaurant though was just right.

We are veggies and had lots of choices, several salads and dips and all was very tasty with a lick that we did not feel at dinners all over the north and center of Greece for the last week
The zucchini patties hat a nice touch of anis,
The green pepper in the salat as from their garden and was very mild. The Tziziki was generous with garlic an i liked it and so was the Eggplant dish that was grilled thin slices of it seasoned above and a sprinkle of cheese.
The fried cheese with sesame in cucumber(?) oil with honey was GREAT.
The service was very good, the waiteras very rapid in his move and looking at clients to see if he was needed.
The oner came in as we were in the middle of dinner and introduced herself, and it felt tyat she cared of the other dinning table near us
The place is small , saw the sunset as we had a glass of(the owner's) home made wine.

One of the superior eateries in the greater Volos area. Very pleasant during the summer, with huge trees offering generous shade (we visited in August). The freshness of the ingredients was obvious. They smoke their own pork steaks, recommended. Very relaxed atmosphere, lots of room for the children to run around, if you visit for lunch on a weekday (as we did).

Poquito is a small creperie serving sweet and savory crepes, soups and salads made with fresh ingredients carefully chosen and prepared by the chef/owner Kontantinos. It is tucked away in a quiet, pedestrianized alley in the heart of the city. Customers can have their crepes wrapped up or enjoy them at the bar on a plate. All ingredients are beautifully arranged and customers can mix and match or consult the chef for suggestions. There’s also a selection of fine Greek wines and lesser known beer labels to accompany the crepes. Drinks, cocktails, hot and cold beverages and aperitifs are also served along with the crepes or fingerfood.
As I like very much crêpes, I also often make crêpes my self, but here in Creperie Poquito there are really delicious, and I recommend this with chcolate, or with fruits, also excellent., and if you don't like sweet, you can also try whitout and...MoreThank you for your review. We are really happy that you enjoyed your crepe and thank you for taking the time to share your view about our creperie with other people. Hope to see you again!

We have visited this place with my family during our stay in Portaria. The food was very tasty and well cooked. We had a bootle of rose wine from local producer, Karipidis Winery, highly recommended. A little bit pricy compared to other restaurants in the area but it worth it!!!

The most beautiful, wonderful, unforgettable cafe! Almost the all places in this area has great view, but this cafe has as well as beautiful big garden with variety of nice flowers and parrots in the cages! Marvelous atmosphere is accompanied by lovely music. They serve a very good coffee and pies, has a good service and they're very attentive to the clients.
I didn't want to live, and I hope I will come there again. I imprinted this scene on my memory!

A very nice restaurant with friendly service and delicious food. Wine of any choice, but the home wine of Zitsa is excellent so no worthy to order a more expensive one.
The environment is cozy, there is non smoking area, in general it has a very clear atmosphere.
