This is Portland's "place to go" for all the sorts of ingredients that you may be less likely to find in regular big supermarkets. Charcuterie. Cheeses. Pastas. Sauces. You get the idea. If that's what you are looking for, check out Micucci Grocery. We bought a lot.

Service was fine. Staff was attentive and everything came in a reasonable time and correct. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food. Salad had way too many onions. No problem, just removed them. Baked pastas were not baked. Basically, cooked pasta with sauce and a little cheese on top and put in the oven to melt the cheese. Nothing really baked about it. Expected the pasta to be a little bit crusty and cheese to be within it. Sauce was skimpy and flavorless. Cost was very reasonable. If we went back, would opt for pizza instead.

Since 2009 when we opened our first slice shop on Congress Street in downtown Portland, we've been striving to elevate the pizza experience. It starts with the ingredients - high quality, local when possible - and the toppings - creative and comforting. M

Our server was very polite and took good care of us. We had lobster ravioli, macaroni and cheese, chicken caprese and an appetizer of bruschetta. All the entrees were good except the chicken caprese. It arrived with the chicken being cold, which should never happen. Our server quickly replaced it with a freshly grilled piece. We all found the bruschetta to be very tasty and enjoyed fresh bread with olive oil. We all agreed that we would return, but were very disappointed in the Caprese Chicken dish.

I've been to Anjon's twice in the last few weeks, once for happy hour in the bar and once for lunch. I love tomato sauce, so when I found out that Anjon's had won awards for their marinara, I had to try it. I had linguine with marinara, and it was excellent. The Italian bread was also very good. The calamari appetizer that I had in the bar was good, but I've had better. Anjon's is very old-school -- it's like Vito Corleone could walk in any minute. The restaurant has a great view of the marsh. The prices seem a bit high for some entrees, but the portions are plentiful and the quality is good. Service was excellent both times.

I wish I could give it a better rating. When we saw the restaurant, my spouse said I have heard of Portland Pie Company. Our greeting and service were very friendly and efficient. Admittedly, there were few patrons there at the time. The decorations were somewhat eclectic. Strip mall standard, pub touches, and stuffed animal heads. The pizza arrived in a very short time and was hot. The basil was fresh, the cheese was tasty, and the crust was burnt. Overall, it was just sort of a little better than average experience.
