As others have already said, this Saloon is a treat. It has an old-world feel atmosphere and the greeting is always warm. It is one of those place where you join the locals at the counter, order a drink and start a conversation. You'll lean a lot about the area in its hayday and the challenges of the present. And they'll want to know about you, where you are from and why you are visiting. I went as a reluctant companion for others keen to go. I left as a convert.

The Boatman's Bar and Grill is a relaxed and fun dining atmosphere with a variety of menu options including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. Check out Taco Tuesday and Thursday Wing Night as well as the daily specials! The lively atmosphere cou
Boatmans is a wonderful summer stop! Only open during summer months, offering really good food. We don't do the bar thing, so I can't rate the drinks, but their specials are awesome and this is a kid friendly place. Every night is a different special, all you can eat taco Tuesday; buy one pizza get one fee Wednesday, etc. Good vegan choices and one of the best hamburgers I've eaten in this part of Maine! Pool table the kids can use, video game and lots of fun night stuff for the adults, like luau night. It's also home to one of the local rafting companies, so you can camp and whitewater raft if you choose.Thank you so much for the review! We really appreciate it and the mention of our rafting and campground is super. My personal favorite is Taco Tuesday! Thanks again and we hope to see you back again and again!

Tried the Sawmill for the second after swearing off the place from a previous visit several years ago. Same experience unfortunately. Poor waitstaff, sub-par food, not very clean inside. Other restaurants in town are much better when it comes to a friendly waitstaff and quality food.

My title for this review should not be read to be a denigration of the wonderful town of Millinocket, which is doing some amazing things to cope with a very challenging economic climate. It is just that one expects to find restaurants like Frederikaâs (affiliated with the Big Moose Inn and, for some reason, on Tripadvisor it is not easy to find unless you look up âLoose Moose Inn Bar & Grill) and River Drivers in major centres such as New York, Boston, Paris, and London (and yes, my wife and I have both been blessed to eat at fine restaurants in all these locations), not Millinocket. This said, you owe it to yourself to visit and partake in the menu.Chef Matteo (who has been there for 17 years) is consistently changing up the menu with seasonal and daily menu changes so it is not easy to recommend any one particular dish. This said, we have been going there (from Canada) for about 13 or 14 years and we have yet to be disappointed. In our most recent visit on the 12th of July my wife had the duck and I had the ribeye special. I must confess to not being a big fan of ribeye but was assured it would be worth it at Frederikaâs and I was certainly assured! The ribeye was flavourful, tender, with a jus that was delicious. Coupled with the salsa accompanying the ribeye and I was thoroughly sated. My wife had the duck and, she too, was completely pleased with the result of a duck that was full of flavour, tender, and the grilled Romaine lettuce was an extra treat due to its texture and flavour. One of the things I like, both about Frederikaâs and River Drivers restaurants, is the relaxed atmosphere and the lack of pomp and circumstance (although I do expect one could get this if one were booking a special event). Frederikaâs was comfortable and intimate and a wonderful place for dinner. The one area in which both restaurants are not relaxed concerns the quality and presentation of the food. World class all the way!!Make a point to get to Millinocket and check out these fantastic places to eat. While there, plan to visit Baxter State Park and definitely check out Mount Katahdin which has kept me coming back for approximately 29 years.Enjoy!!!

They serve 2 lb lobsters at Scootic - best lobster in this part of Maine. Service is great. They have a nice wine selection and of course, a menu of other great dishes.

Award winning restaurant, affordable Fun Family dining in the Kathadin Region, fabulous location overlooking Millinocket Lake. Open year-round, breakfast, lunch & dinner during summer and sled season.
After a day of driving, chasing photos of the mountain, and looking for moose I was tired. The service was great, the grounds were beautiful- the burger was average. More home cut fried than could be consumed - all in all: OK.
