I'm not a great fan of biscuits in general, but the biscuits here are really good! I like the restaurant's atmosphere -- lots of space, nice decor -- but the plastic utensils were surprising. For a brick-and-mortar place that people dine in, there should be regular silverware. Besides seeming tacky, plastic isn't the greatest for cutting meat or buttering biscuits. Otherwise, I thought the food and service were very good and the prices were reasonable for some items, a little high for others.Hi NHjo, We're so glad you enjoyed our food and atmosphere - thanks for the rewiew! You may be interested to know that the reason for our disposable flatware is that we've gone GREEN! After extensive research, we discovered that the most environmentally friendly option for our fast-casual breakfast & lunch environment is compostable serving ware. Everything that goes out to the dining room is compostable, including the flatware, which is corn-based and 100% compostable.Working with a local composting company we're converting 200 lb/week of landfill waste into compost. We conserve over 3200 gallons of water each week, plus the energy it takes to heat all that water. We also keep over 5 gallons of bleach & chemicals out of the water system every week. We believe that every little bit helps, and we're proud of our efforts. We hope you will be, too, and we look forward to seeing you again. Best, Stacy & the Crew

Found this place by accident a few years ago, and it is amazing! Real food, tastefully and aesthetically prepared... yummmmmm turned a simple salad with chicken into one of the best salads I've had in a while (and I'm picky about fresh dressings etc)... love this place!

Heading up to South Portland, I passed through Biddefordâs downtown area on Alfred Street. As I prepared to bear right onto Main Street, the sight of large inflatable vinyl donuts with frosting and sprinkles, twirling in the breeze in front of a building, caught my eye. They were quite the attention-getter. I just had to go in and meet the clever folks who put them there.Inside, I saw a variety of all their wonderful donuts, muffins, and pastries. Some were frosted; some were plain; some were glazed. There was an enormous Whoopie Pie on top of the case. The counterwoman told me that sometimes they come out larger. And, the aroma of baked goods reminded me of visits to the home of an aunt who baked a lot. It smelled so good in there that I almost didnât want to leave..The Chocolate Chip Muffins were loaded with mini chips. Those looked really good, too. They were different from other similar muffins elsewhere. After checking out everything in the case, I chose the Blueberry Muffin. With tax, it was $2.64.I took it to go. It was quite large. I wound cutting it in two and eating it half at a time. It was loaded with blueberries. The muffin was cakey. It was excellent. It was a little bit sweeter than I prefer, but delicious nonetheless. Iâd like to see a 25% Less Sugar version added to the menu. The shop also serves a variety of coffees. There was limited table seating. I rate The Donut Shop at 5.0. I highly recommend stopping in. My family had breakfast there on 7/12/19 and it was absolutely delicious and had great menu choices. There was something for everyone. Even the Blueberry muffins (we ordered one to go) were better than all of the bakerys that are making a good living selling muffins. I asked and they make their own. It is also very cute inside-I can't wait to go back next year and eat there again.
