GREAT Dinner's in the woods of Maine as there are few good places in such remote areas! Thanks for putting them on the Tripadvisor Map.... we were so grateful to find this place and have a good and civilized meal!
Maynard's has been around since 1919, and you're dining in the original lodge! Breakfast is simple, tasty and priced incredibly well. Service is quick, don't hesitate to ask for more juice, coffee, etc., as they don't carry a big waitstaff, but they work it very well. Dinner is a home run, especially the Prime Rib...friends from Kentucky said it was the best they've ever had. Chicken Marsala, scallops, the meatloaf will leave you with the best food coma you could ask for! It's grandma's home cooking for sure, and again, priced to sell. Reservations are a must, only two different entree selections served per evening though they do have a small a la carte menu and a vegetarian option. BYOB! We love Maynard's...the restaurant, the people, the location...check it out!Thank you for all the kind words. Maynard's being family run since 1919 tries to make everyone's dining experience a good one. Hope to see you in 2018.Gail Maynard

Before departing back to Portland, Maine after the conclusion of our vacation away from our son, my husband and I wanted to have a romantic brunch. The Birches dining room is situated perfectly for picturesque views of Moosehead Lake. They have a private dock if you would like to access the property by water. We arrived via our car and loved the added opportunities for leaf peeping. I ordered the French toast. It was on the top of the list for one of the best I have ever had. Served with local organic Maine maple syrup fresh off the grill. I also ordered the bacon as a side, home fries are extra but I ordered those as well. My husband ordered the Hash and eggs with rye toast. Everything was perfect. Staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We hope to return back again in the future to try other items on the menu and enjoy the atmosphere.

They've done a great job with this place! Ice cold drinks, hot food and fantastic service. We are fairly local and visit twice a month or so, we have a great time there.

We arrived here for a late lunch- around 2:30 on a Monday. We were seated right away in a corner away from the windows. It was pretty dark- had to use our phone flashlight to read the menu. Good selections to chose from on the menu. I had the Yukon grilled chicken sandwich. It was very good! Chicken was moist and tasty. We were a party of six and everyone was happy with what they got. Would eat there again.
