Every time we go, it is superb. The service is top notch and the menu diverse. The brick oven pizzas and mac and cheese are so delicious that it is tough to resist. Did I mention the home baked breads and desserts?! Wow.Thank you! We hope to see you again soon! The Gray family

Jameson Tavern Restaurant

Reviewed By LikeItActive

There are surprisingly few options for eating when strolling the shops of Freeport. Jameson is conveniently located, has some charm, and has long waits. The greeter was a little surly, and I actually felt sorry for her as she was busy in a restaurant with a frenetic mid-day pace. If there had been other options, I probably wouldn't have waited the 30+ minutes for a seat, especially since we had 2 children. However, had the weather have cooperated we could have waited just outside and that would have made the time seem much less. he food was simply "okay". I'd say the chowder was excellent, but the other meals our group of 6 had were all good, not outstanding. The calamari was a nice shared appetizer. The lobster roll a little pricey and a little disappointing. If you aren't time rushed and/or just want to sit for a while, eat okay seafood with prices that are just a little high, then this place fits the bill.

Not thrilled about the BBQ here. Looked for some plain BBQ sauce without blueberries in it, and couldn't find it. Seriously? It doesn't come on the ribs. Also very little for non-meat eaters who accompany the meat eaters to eat. Not cheap either, so I am looking forward to trying a different place. Service was fine, but the meal was just average. Overrated. The only thing that I thought was good was the cornbread.

Have been there a couple times recently. Plenty of parking. Great tacos! Haven't tried anything else yet. The burritos look huge.Lots of craft draft beer but I didn't really see anything special.Service was ok. Seems like it could be more friendly. It was noisy in the main room even when there was only one other party. The hard floor makes for tough acoustics. We suspect that the games in the bar will add to the noise level there. Will try it again.

This little place has a lot going for it. Friendly, cozy and good location. The food is good but portions pretty modest and some things are priced high. You can get good food other places in area not nearly as expensive.

Brickyard Hollow

Reviewed By LopingianTravels

Located, literally, at the crossroads into the middle of this small town, Brickyard Hollow offers a menu twist on the typical pub fare found elsewhere in the state's microbrew offerings. We had lunch on a lazy summer afternoon, and found both the service and offerings good. Their selection of beers spans a wide range from an advertised Kolsch (close to Koln's offerings, but not exactly) on the light side to IPAs on the other end of the spectrum. The menu to accompany their adult beverages is fairly typical with the exception of several items that add local flavor. Who, for example, would find a crab-cake "burger" with two, shredded cakes with more crab than filling which made the dish. All in all, this afternoon's lunch experience will be the impetus for us to return in the future.

Stopped in for lunch, and though they did not have any burnt ends, I opted for the smoked wings and they were very, very good. I also had the fries which were nicely done on the outside and still soft and tender on the inside. Service was very friendly and prompt. Highly recommended.

Stopped in for weekday lumch and enjoyed both food and service. A bit pricey, and atmosphere/décor a bit odd for a self-proclaimed "bistro" - more diner than café - but food and waitstaff just fine, so a 4 goes to 3. Brussels sprouts appetizer with honey glaze very good; chicken rice soup not too salty; house salad with perfectly done (rare) salmon atop; nicely done haddock (grilled) taco dish - soft taco could have been warmed up. Bill was $50 for two with one soda. No coffee/dessert - we went to Maine Roasters next door. We'll try a dinner some time.

Royal River Grill House

The menu here is hit or miss. You can get some dishes that are very good and you can get some dishes that you want to throw at the chef. Service is spotty at the bar. The barrel chairs are extraordinarily uncomfortable in the lounge area near the bar, but a real boon to chiropractors. Great view and outdoor seating, but for several summers in a row now, much of the outdoor deck was not open because they said they didn’t have enough staff. This place used to be incredible, but now you taking your chances with the food. That said it’s a nice atmosphere, and occasionally you will hit it right with the menu. Overpriced.Hello,My sincere apologies for the missteps in service and the quality of food. We always strive for excellence and appreciate guest feedback as it helps us improve.
