Happened upon this place towards the end of our stay and wish we would have found it sooner! Do not miss the chance to have breakfast here. Food is excellent and staff is friendly! We went back the next day since they menu has so many items to pick from!

American staples like wings, burgers (including build-your-own options with over 35 toppings), steak and inventive fish dishes are the draw at this North Conway hangout. Contemporary pendant lighting, a sweeping bar and a bank of big windows create a conv
Friendly staff. Greeted quickly with good service. Food overly salty. Got strawberry and goat cheese salad with grilled chicken. Strawberries and goat cheese hard to find amongst the lettuce. âGrilled chickenâ tasted slimy and not grilled. Salmon overly salty. I was very disappointed to hear about your dissatisfaction with your meal. We pride ourselves on serving fresh high quality food with great service. I'm glad the service was to your liking however. I will take back your feedback to our kitchen team. I hope you will consider giving us another try as your experience is not typical. Thank you for your review.

Opening in December 2013, we have climbed from number 68 of 68 restaurants to number 16 in 2 years! Now at number 3, we try hard to please, and if we did, we thank you, and if we didn't, call owner operator Danielle Jones at the restaurant and she will he
We had dinner there tonight while on vacation with our kids. Service was great! Food was great! They had some blocks the kids could play with to keep them busy while we waited for our food which came out very promptly. I would highly recommend for familyâs.

Small building with great food. Big rectangular pizzas loaded with toppings. Also good sandwiches and salads. Convenience store necessities. Mostly carry out but has a few counter seats.
My family and I visited Frye's on a Sunday at 5pm. Quite the strange place. Part convenience store, part counter-service restaurant. Half the shelves were completely empty as were the beverage coolers. Not sure if this was because they had a busy day...?One table was occupied and one party was ordering in front of us. Not noticing that anything was amiss, we placed our order of two sandwiches and a small pizza. Then the wait began. 15 minutes - 20 minutes - 25 minutes - 30 minutes. We were never told that there would be a long wait. The place was definitely seriously under-staffed. The phone was ringing off the hook and the staff was busy taking more and more orders rather than working on the orders that they had already taken. I never heard anyone tell a caller that there would be a long wait. After more than 30 minutes, I approached the counter and asked the clerk/chef if he knew how long before our order would be ready. I provided the details of our order and the clerk/chef asked the woman preparing the food (who was also clerking). Her angry reply was "I DON'T KNOW. I'M WORKING ON ALL THE ORDERS AT THE SAME TIME! MAYBE 10 MINUTES." I did see a completed small pizza and two sandwiches sitting on a shelf, but assumed they weren't ours as we were dining in and did not request take out. I continued to keep my eye on the staff only to see them pluck our food off the shelf and serve it to us as take out 15 minutes after I saw it sitting there. My husband thought his pastrami sandwich was outstanding. My daughter liked her pizza. My chicken parm sandwich was tasty but soggy by the time I got it. A quick meal before our long drive home turned into a marathon. If you decide to go here, consider going on a weekday and definitely ask how long the wait will be before you order,

We arrived about 9:30 on a Sunday morning and they were busy. We had about a ten-minute wait before being seated. There were so many luscious sounding items on the menu. My wife struggled between the traditional Eggs Benedict and Florentine and Irish versions. I wrestled with several omelets and biscuits and gravy. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy and my wife chose the traditional Eggs Benedict. The food arrived quickly and without incident and was amazing. My eggs were perfect with no crackle around the edges, the home-made gravy was among the best Iâve ever had. The home fries were cooked thoroughly and very tasty. My wifeâs eggs were perfect. Gordon Ramsey would have said they had the perfect ooze when cut into. The Hollandaise sauce was smooth and tasty. The perfect complement to the eggs. The check arrived with perfect timing. All-in-all it was one of the best breakfast experiences ever and certainly the best in several months.

Hungry and out of gas, leaf peeping in Maine.Asked at the gas station where would be good for lunch, and without hesitation she said 'House of Pizza'.We found it and parked outside.I had Eggplant Parmigiana Sub and my wife had a Veggie sub, we shared fries. The fresh coffee was Great. The subs were fast and great, just right for a travelling lunch.AND Debbie was such a great hostess, making lunch such a pleasant experience.

I frequently find myself stopping in for Shepherds pie or prime rib or a slice of pizza. This is not a restaurant so to speak. More like a convenient store with a wide array of different foods and bakery items. Worth the stop and always filling. A bit pricey but worth the money.

We had avoided the old location due to the high level of noise, despite its generally good food. The new location is somewhat better for noise upstairs--insist on seating there when making a reservation--while the first floor remains noisy with patrons and live music that really isn't necessary. The food was generally good, and a pleasant change from the pub food in this area, but attention to detail is a must. Service was adequate and pleasant. One of the bus staff has a booming voice that is deafening, and when asked to lower the volume, he said that "this is just the way I speak." Slates strives to be a bistro with a broad menu with locally sourced food. Our plates were generally good, but all lacked attention to the detail of plating. My steak au poivre was prepared perfectly and was tender, however, it was drowned in a good sauce that flooded the vegetable dishes; ¼ of the sauce would have been sufficient. The vegetables nonetheless were nicely prepared. A stuffed fish dish was served with stuffing cold and mushy, and suffered from similar problems of details. A dinner burrito was just OK. The desert was super rich double chocolate that we shared and thoroughly enjoyed. One could say, "This is Central Maine where everything is relaxed," including food preparation and presentation. Could but shouldn't. Slates could be a far better dining experience with attention to detail, beginning the kitchen. Strong in its favour is dining where the meals are "real" meals with a main and sides, as well as first course and deserts, instead of annoying trendy small plates. We will try again.

A local of the area recommended this place to us. It was not far from North Conway and totally worth the drive - no wait for lunch. Our server, a school teacher on summer vacation, was great: informative, chatty and prompt. The fresh local taps offered some really nice options. My Greek salad was healthy and delicious. Loved the fish tacos, brisket sandwich and pork tacos and sandwich. Plus, dessert was a giant chocolate chip cookie warmed in a cast iron skillet with hot fudge sundae fixings on top. Delicious. And, sit on the back deck if you enjoy a pretty great view of the surrounding mountains. My only regret is that we only ate here once.We are so pleased you liked it! You will have to make sure you get back more than once during your next visit.

Wonderful evening of food and excellent service by Claire. Shared a first course of calamari - light tasty batter and tangy sauce. Lamb shank fantastic. Swordfish special very good. Shared a decadent chocolate dessert. Great ambience, lots of parking on street. On behalf of Clare and our staff, thank you for sharing your comments! I must agree - the Lamb Shank is fantastic - the duck fat roasted radishes are a superb side with the braised shank. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future!
