A place you can’t miss, with one of the best views of the all island. And you can have a light meal or a snack and also some regional dishes. And is nothing expensive. From the restaurant you can start some walking tracks. Don’t miss it!

Stopped here as part of the North Tour. We had the set meal, vegetable soup, espada fish and passionfruit dessert. It was ok but nothing that special. €15 with wine. The veg were very watery and the water soaked into the fish batter.
Space directed to the different wines, with place for varieties of tapas. Also available, toasted, toast, typical brocades, typical cake as well as ice cream
In this small town this Merceraria is a good place for an aperitif, coffee or snack The coffee is good as is the honey cake. There is a good selection of wines and other specialities of Madeira available. It has a rustic feel and I liked the Henriques table and chairs made from barrels. The server however was rather sullen albeit not impolite. On leaving I noticed the cafe was supposed to have closed two hours earlier - maybe that was why he was a bit grumpy!Loos were clean.
Stopped here for an early evening meal. The food was very good - we had one cheese salad and one chicken salad, a sandwich 2 beers and a water. This came to 23 Euros. The staff are very attentive and the location is close to the sea.

As a couple of others have noted this is odd this is at number 1, we arrived 11.50 and told they werent serving food, when we asked when they could they said 12pm so we insisted we sit and wait for kitchen to open. other customers turned up after us and their order was taken before ours, there was no local bread just as another review says. and the menu only had 4 options. food was very average im afraid. dont go here expecting an amazing dining experience.

Traditional island food from the most mouthwatering Bolo de Caco, which we went back for twice, good espetada and good fish and sea fish. The nice comfortable atmosphere, hosts who were open and friendly and giving us hints and tips about where to go and which the best Mass on Christmas Eve would be the best for our elderly companion, all made for a very pleasant dining experience. And the passionfruit mousse ...... wonderful.

This place totally surprised me. We stopped here Sunday for lunch. The food, service and prices were excellent, very impressed and those that know my blog will know I criticise a lot of places on the island. Defiantly in my top list of Restaurants to eat on Madeira. Well done to the owners and keep up the good work, I will be back soon ...

We stopped here on a tour and had a set menu with wine included. The soup was bland and needed seasoning but pan fried sole was excellent and served with boiled potatoes and salad. The wine was plentiful with a choice of red or white or a soft drink. The staff were friendly and helpful.
