Macroom (/məˈkruːm/; Irish: Maigh Chromtha) is a market town in County Cork, Ireland, in the valley of the River Sullane, halfway between Cork city and Killarney. Its Irish Gaelic may translate as "meeting place of followers of the god Crom" or "crooked oak", the latter a reference to a large oak tree that apparently grew in the town-square during the reign of the English King John. Its population has grown and receded over the centuries as it went trough periods of war, famine, forced emigration and intermittent prosperity. In a 2011 census, the urban area was recorded as 3,879.

Popped in here for a latte & a rocky road (gluten free) .... Prompt service with a pleasant bit of chat & an ease of choice to suit everyone. My other half had a homemade scone to which he declared was fabulous!! Cappuccino with an extra shot & we watched the world go by for 45 mins in blissful characteristic surroundings. Nice place ..... Good coffee & cakes

My first time here, but I've been in Macroom many times.
Th trick is to look for the Sandwich board outside.
Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
Plenty of choice, cakes, scones, chocolate pretending to be cake :-)
They do sandwiches, toast and I think, breakfast, I was too busy eating to notice.
Tea and coffee both good.

We ate here for several meals during our 5-night stay at the Castle Hotel. It certainly seemed like the place to be in Macroom! The food was uniformly good (try the chicken curry!) The service was a bit spotty a few times when they were particularly busy, but the wait staff were otherwise friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to be there on an evening when there was traditional Irish music and dancing. We would definitely return here.

The Auld Triangle is located in Macroom. As well as dining in Dans Bar guests can also book Nights Restaurant for functions. We are open for brunch, lunch and dinner.
After a local meeting we were in need of food, having not eaten for a few hours. I saw the Auld Triangle as I headed to the Gearagh so stopped off to see the menu. The menu was very good and we had a delicious meal. The veg curry was very good indeed. Overall, I would return to the Auld Triangle again.

Love this place and the magical view from the windows overlooking Gougane Barra Lake.
Visited many times since my first review and even handier as a port of call as we live just over the hill!
Food is really good, toasted special my favourite along with the delightful cakes...selection today was magical indeed and a hard choice to make! Irish tea served in a teapot is good for several cups too...
Consistently friendly service and always a cheery welcome, can get busy but tables to use outside as well...

My wife and I dined here whilst staying at the Castle Hotel. We had the Steaks. These were cooked exactly to our liking. The dish came with Onion Ring and Chips. We also ordered a portion of mushrooms. The food was delicious, served by attentive staff and as we were celebrating my 60th birthday, the staff brought some cakes trimmed with a candle and sang happy birthday. The meal including wine was very reasonably priced at under €90 for the two of us.

Ireland's oldest family run bakery. Handmade breads and confectionery. We serve Full Irish Breakfast all day and a wide selection of sandwiches freshly prepared on premises. Variety of freshly ground coffees made from our own spring water.
We were driving from Skibbereen to Dingle and needed a place to stop for a break. The lovely market town of Macroom offered lots of shops and cafes to choose from, but Lynch's seemed to be the local favourite. We had Americano coffees and chocolate eclairs here - very good! We discovered that Lynch's was a movie setting for the 2003 Aidan Quinn film, "Songs for a Raggy Boy".

Went for dinner last night at Riva Italian restaurant in the Riverside Park Hotel. It was very quiet but the menu offered a really nice selection of traditional and contemporary Italian dishes using local produce. The service was efficient and friendly. The starters were delicious and the main courses were great too. There servings were so big we had no room left for desert!
We choose the dinner deal which was 2 courses, 2 sides with main course and a bottle of wine for two people €50 so very good value. The only disappointment was the napkins were nasty disposable ones not linen and the fresh flowers on the table and in the toilets were looking very sorry for themselves. This is our second visit to Riva's and it certainly wont be our last.
