Welcome to The White Hart, Lymington. A traditional 200 year old inn sitting on the border of Lymington & Pennington and is ideally located for the High Street shops or the Marina nearby. With a traditional bar area, contemporary lounge, large restaurant
Nice looking pub both inside and out with a large car park and rear garden full of the usual wooden picnic tables. A TA "Excellent" sticker on the pub door was a good sign. We had lunch in the garden and unfortunately chose "Fish and Chips". A nice size piece of fish, plenty of crispy chips and a good portion of peas. A nicely presented meal. Unfortunately the fish, despite having crispy batter and being well cooked, was tasteless and neither of us were quite sure what type of white fish it was.Pleasent staff, prompt service at the bar and the food arrived promptly. We would probably eat here again, but not the fish and chips.

Three people two dogs all catered for. Biscuits for the dogs on arrival as we had a relaxing drink in the bar area followed by a lovely meal. Service was very attentive and never felt rushed. Would definitely eat/drink here again. Just a shame I'm not local.

A historic country pub close by Lymington marina and the sea wall.
We went for dinner on Sat. 31st Aug. & was just after being seated we were informed by the landlady to order immediately as they were very busy and we would experience a delay - we ordered only main courses which were average, just pub food, nothing special. Our biggest problem was the incident on the next table between a smart elderly gentlemen, dining with his wife & two young ladies, who appeared to be waiting a very long time for their main meal. He was repeatedly reassured by waitresses that they were sorry but it was a busy evening, it would appear that after a considerable time (we had been served and finished our meal) he went in search of the landlady, eventually resorting to approaching the kitchen to see if she was there. The landlady stormed out of the kitchen and was unbelievably rude to the gentleman, ordering him to sit down, no apologies for the long wait, just giving him verbal abuse, she even stated she was extremely proud of her 2 chefs for completing over 100 covers that evening, to which the gentleman replied if you can't cope with bookings, then don't be so greedy and turn parties away.No reply she just stormed off!Having since informed a number of previous diners of our experience the general consensus is the landlady is certainly not pleasant and at times a nasty piece of work - enough said!Hello, Thank you for your feed back regarding the food, we are sorry you feel underwhelmed and hope you would try us again some time in the future. Regarding the âincidentâ on the nearby table Iâm not sure why youâd feel the need to make comment. Yes the restaurant was incredibly busy, we has been fully booked for nearly 2 weeks and our head chef had been called away for a family emergency on that day, leaving our sous chef and a new trainee Comi chef to deal with a full capacity double booked service at last notice, the food delays were explained and we did our best to deal with it and get the food out as quickly as possible with the quality to the best we could manage in the circumstance. The gentleman you mention who marched into the kitchen shouting and screaming his head off at the sous chef and other staff about the wait on his food, who then continued to do so in the restaurant when asked to leave the kitchen was totally out of order, that isnât remotely acceptable behaviour in any respect or establishment, even if you have been waiting longer than expected, ironically his tables food was next on the pass to be served once he sat back down. The land lady tried to appease the situation with him as civilly as possible given how he was talking to us. Making assertions of the land ladyâs character in a public domain based on this incident really isnât a fair reflection. This was an incredibly challenging night in very one off circumstance, I hope you decide to try us again as it really isnât reflective of how we are at our pub, we genuinely care about every table and every plate of food, the most disappointing thing is the gentleman you speak of has been in many many times in the past. Regards, David

Will and his team welcome you to The Monkey House, one of the last standing freehouses in the picturesque seaside town of Lymington. A family run pub and kitchen with rooms. In our cosy 18th century pub, enjoy delicious fresh food including traditional pu
Went here with eight friends on a Saturday night. Had pre ordered our meals, so our starters were served promptly. The menu is varied with a good choice for everyone. Our food was very well cooked and presented. Service was attentive but not overbearing. The staff were extremely good. The wine list has a good selection, we had a very nice Australian shiraz. Would thoroughly recommend this place.

Would definitely recommend this pub . The landlord and Landlady are very welcoming and the atmosphere is a friendly mixture of locals and visitors. The food is excellent, great portions and well presented. One of the best examples of a traditional pub and dog friendly too

It is some while since we last visited this pub, some of the staff may have changed, but it still retains its friendly and efficient 'ye olde worlde' atmosphere. This time, we stopped by for a 'snack' lunch (sorry, did I say snack?) My wife ordered a jacket potato stuffed with beans which came with a good sized pot of coleslaw and salad garnish. I think that the jacket potato alone must have been delivered on the back of a low loader, it was BIG and well cooked. She could only consume half of what was there and although she offered me the remainder, what I was confronted with was enough to keep me busy for quite a while.I had a sausage and marmalade baguette with chips and salad garnish. Two large and tasty sausages had been crammed into the baguette so it was positively bulging. The chips were well cooked and not greasy. With a 'snack ' of this magnitude it meant that we had to cancel our usual evening meal.In contrast to the Lazy Lion 150 metres away, where you get a very different atmosphere, clean and bright with good friendly service (almost trendy) but in comparison to the Smugglers it disappears without a trace when it comes to value for money. Both are pretty much even stevens with regards to quality of food, so really the only choice you need make is value for money (zero here) and style of atmosphere.

Good pub grub, the steak and ale pie was delicious and the chicken very good too, the bread and pudding okay not as good though. Friendly service in good ambiance. Just a minute of the main Lymington to Christchurch main coastal road.

The Royal Oak at Downton Lymington has been transformed from an already beautiful 18th Century Coach House into a stunning country pub and restaurant. We are concentrating on providing friendly, first class service alongside freshly made on the premises,
I am so disappointed to have had to write this review but have been here many times for evening dinner and Sunday lunches and has always been so good that I have recommended this place , but unfortunately tonight was awful. From start to finish the service and food Was appalling .Drinks order not correct , ordering another round of drinks took half an hour , the food was disgusting my friend had salmon which was lukewarm and had what could only be described as a dried out piece of shoe leather , but we were told it was a rosti.Soup was served no spoon was with it had to track one down ourselves , I had chicken curry which looked as bad as it tasted and I just had to leave it all .The flatbread with it looked as if it had been left out for a day or two was totally stale .Not once were we asked if everything was ok and clearly the waitress must have known as we said we have been waiting half an hour for our drinks .Also when the waitress took my food away it was untouched but nothing to ask if anything was wrong .The attitude of the waitress was couldnât care less . I actually did say to one of the waitresses whatâs gone wrong here as always been good here but I explained itâs been awful from the service to the food and she said she would let the manager know .No manager ever came over too see us except when we paid the bill and she said Iâve taken a round of drinks off for the drink mix up and havenât charged you for the curry that you didnât eat .I think that was very poor considering the whole evening was a total wipe out .The manager who is usually there when I have been is a man called Darren but he was not in tonight unfortunately as he has always ensured good service and good food .its a shame as I will not be going back again or the other three people that also came said never again .

The Cave is an exciting new concept in enjoying wine. Situated opposite the picturesque Milford on Sea village green, there is always a warm welcome whether you are looking to taste, buy, learn, or simply enjoy a glass of wine, beer, or even coffee with f
After arriving in Milford my friend and I were looking forward to popping in here for a quick glass of wine before walking up to Master Pinks for a fish and chip supper. We ran through the rain to find shelter in the reasonably busy bar, quickly found a table and waited. And waited some more. I eventually wandered up to the bar to see if I could order a drink there, but before I could say anything the (rather flustered and over stretched) waitress gave me 2 seconds of eye contact before saying -âYou can take a seat, we will be with you when Weâre readyâ. A rather abrupt and unnecessary greeting, a quick âIâll be with you shortlyâ or even the original statement with a smile would have gone down a lot better. Despite the unpleasant start I returned to the table and we sat and waited. And waited some more. After waiting a total around 20 minutes we still hadnât been approached or given any sign that the staff were even close to being ready to offer us drinks, so we decided to give up waiting and move on to the chippy. Not the greatest customer service, not even that great a wine list by the glass. Itâs a shame, as there seems to be plenty of potential for this place with other reviews. Maybe Iâll give it another go next time Iâm near by. Hi RichardThank you for your honest review. Really sorry you didn't experience our consistent excellent customer service on this occasion which we are renowned for, however i'm sure we can make amends should you give us another chance. We look forward to seeing you again next time you wait for Fish and chips.
