Really excellent food but one lady serving us today was beyond passive aggressive to the point where I questioned how much more anyone could hate their job. The younger waitress was delightfully helpful that it made it even more glaringly obvious how poor the other ladies service skills were. She seemed so offended by our presence as a family with two small kids who really enjoyed their meal. However she actually rolled her eyes when we ordered steak for our 10yr old son. Everything just seemed way too much trouble that we very nearly left. At the end when we asked if they accept Amex she complained about the high charges that and I felt like saying well donât accept it then if youâre going to make a customer aware of how much pain theyâd are going to cause you.The food was excellent but even the table next to us felt her wrath when they asked about the dishes before ordering.

Ate here on our first Saturday evening, drawn by the interesting menu and great location. It was wonderful to watch the sun go down and then the moon rise whilst we sat by the open doorway. The menu offered a really interesting range of dishes but when it came it didn't quite live up to the expectations we had. It was perfectly acceptable but in a routine pub food kind of way when we had hoped for something perhaps a little better.Would we go again? yes, but with expectations slightly lowered.

16th Century Coaching Inn commands an enviable position, conveniently situated on the main A35 where Devon & Dorset meet, between the bustling market town of Axminster, and the beautiful seaside town of Lyme Regis, the gateway to the Jurassic Coast.
My sister has lived 300 yards from this pub for over 25 years so I have visited often and always found food and service good. However on my sisters birthday 22.09.19 the food was adequate but the service was very poor 0ne meal was suppose to have had bread had to ask for it, had to ask for spoons to eat desert.did not get an ordered drink and would have liked coffee but was not offered. May be better on the week but would not go on a Sunday.

The Cobb Arms Is No Longer Owned By Mr And Mrs Mcclements But Has New Owners As Of The 13TH Nov 2017
Love the new menu but tonight had fish and chips which were lovely. My partner had pork scratchings with apple sauce as a snack starter, he followed this with belly pork with a pulled pork croquette, applewood mash and vegetables with gravy, good hearty food which he enjoyed. The staff were attentive and very pleasant.

This place is a very popular eating place. We hadn't booked for dinner and it was full but luckily we had arrived late enough for some early diners to have finished and left. The menu is surprisingly good and varied. It has the usual pub grub but some excellent other dishes. My wife had the steak, I had the mussels, both cooked perfectly and v tasty. I'd tossed up between that and Scallops with Black pudding & cauliflower. The beers are good, the wines ok but somewhat restricted in range. Highly recommended but suggest you play safe and book.

The Volunteer Inn is a family-run, seventeenth century pub located in the heart of Lyme Regis in Dorset. One of the only remaining pubs on the high street, The Volunteer sells a range of local ales and ciders and has been a regular in the Good Beer Guide
This pub has real character and a great selection of cask ales. A great place for a couple or three pints during the evening. The staff and clientele add to a very warm welcoming atmosphere and the beer is just delicious.

We usually eat here whenever we visit Lyme, the food this time far supassed any previous vist, superb seafood platter and kiev. The friendly waitress was very attentive, i wonder how many pens she ends up with in her hair, youll understand what i mean if you visit. We enjoyed it so much we returned the following day. Great place, fantastic food and brilliant service.

Visited on Tuesday evening the day after a bank holiday. No problem booking for a party of five. We arrived early but the table was ready, we were warned that there might be a slight wait for food but it didnât seem that there was. Everyone was very happy with their food, my wife declared the steak and ale pie to be a new high point (and she is something of a steak and ale pie connoisseur) and my 6 year old daughter was delighted with her ham, egg and chips - the ham was very thick. Desserts were also very good. The land lady came over for a chat and all the staff were friendly and did their jobs well. Hi BourbondunkerThank you for taking the time to review our pub.We are delighted that your family enjoyed the food they chose, and we are happy to know that you found our staff friendly and efficient. Your comments are very much appreciated. Please do visit us again if you are in our part of the world.Kindest regardsWendy

Set at the edge of the beach in the beautiful and historic coastal town of Lyme Regis, the Pilot Boat has just been relaunched following a nine-month project by Palmers Brewery to rejuvenate the iconic grade II listed building back to life as a lifestyle
Pretty average all round. Service was good enough but the starter poor to be honest, a charcuterie board had a few slices of ham/salami/chorizo from a packet and the main wasn't much better, the seafood platter consisting of smoked salmon (presumably from a packet), some dressed crab meat and some shell on prawns. And a lot of bread. Nothing I couldn't have rustled up in 5 minutes at home with some scissors for the packets and a plate. It was ok, not bad or terrible but I expected a bit better for a Lyme Regis restaurant and wouldn't go back.Kids scampi and chips was good.

We are a fully licenced family run restaurant. Specializing in homemade gourmet Beef, chicken & Vegetarian burgers We also offer local fish & chips and a full Sunday roast dinner menu. All of our meat & fish is ethically sourced and reared locally, where
Letâs start with the good stuff, the lady who meets and greets you, so friendly and warm and she worked so hard - she was lovely!! The bad, the young waitress who ignored us several times, had a very loud conversation with the chef and then when delivering the food dumped chips on the table and all over my leg. Whoops she said and walked off, no apology or attempt to clean up. The food was ok but to be honest was average - hate giving a bad review but lose the waitress and review the menu, the lady host was the star!I must apologise for the waitress she can be a little bit odd sometimes but does work hard, at this time of year its almost impossible to find good staff in lyme. My mother was pleased with your comments toward her, the menu however its a burger bar we do offer several other options but its a burger bar what is to review.
