ANOTHER IDEA OF TIME Ouvea Paradise welcome you in couple, with friends or families, for un unforgettable stay in a dream setting, only at a short 40 minutes flight from Nouméa. Le Paradis d'Ouvéa offers 34 air-conditoned bungalows, on the beach or in the middle of our gardens, for 1 to 6 people.
DON'T BOTHER GOING HERE UNFRIENDLY MANAGER AND STAFF (this is an accurate recount of our family trip, my comments may differ from others but this is from the Australian recount). From the unfriendly transport guy who picked us up to the unfriendly welcome (none existent) when we arrived it was the same unfriendliness throughout our whole 6 day stay. Language barrier was a real problem with not many speaking English (or "preferring" not to speak ENGLISH) to avoid conversation. The activities lady was do dumb she booked us on the wrong trip. The trip was from 8am - 2pm. At 4pm I began to worry and by 6pm when the family member had not returned I was up to see the Manager. They managed to ring the boat Captain. Captain left message at resort 4 hours prior and I NEVER GOT THE MESSAGE (or they just never bothered to give it to be being Australian and white). The Manager brought a mocktail as a "sorry" but the "sorry" was so fake it was a really don't care attitude. They never even bothered getting back to us regarding the stuff up. All french were served first and we were left to do most stuff ourselves. I felt discriminated against being Australian and white. New Caledonia is so so expensive. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO OUVEA NOR TO NEW CALEDONIA EVER. I do not post any pictures although I do have plenty. If this has been helpful please vote with a thumbs up. Shame bad manager, bad attitude, and such lovely beach.

This hotel has all the features you could dream of for a perfect getaway : comfort, good and friendly service, very good food, and beautiful nature around. It is located in the center of the island, so easy to travel around.

Featuring a sun terrace and a year-round outdoor swimming pool, Hotel Oasis de Kiamu is located on Lifou Island. The property has a restaurant where you can taste a subtle blend of traditional ingredients from Lifou (Drehu) and all the flavors of the local gastronomy. The rooms include a flat-screen TV. Some have a seating area where you can relax after a busy day. There is also a private bathroom. The Oasis Hotel in Kiamu has a private beach area and provides a car rental service. Guests can enjoy various activities in the surroundings, including hiking and snorkelling. We speak your language !
We stayed with our family of five, including three kids aged 16, 5 and 1. We had a two-bedroom villa. It had air conditioning in the main bedroom only and the second bedroom had only a fan and did get a little hot. The windows were shutters that do not seal fully and no fly screens. We didn’t notice many mosquitoes, but I was glad I brought mosquito nets for the kids. The water onsite is potable, but we still used boiled or bottled water for the baby. The hotel located about 15 minute drive from We and 45 minutes from the airport. The restaurant food is very good - many people not staying at the hotel would come for dinner. We hired a Peugeot from the hotel - from the airport and dropped off at the airport. They charge by calendar day for hire - Which was a bit odd. You definitely need a car to explore Lifou. Staff are very friendly, though most don’t speak much English - but you can get by with google translate! Lifou was the highlight of our new Caledonia trip. I wish we could have stayed on Lifou longer than the five days we had rather than spending any time in Nouméa. Best reefs for snorkelling, picturesque beaches and so many nice people. Definitely take your own snorkelling gear - the costs do add up. At first glance the hotel does look a little run down from the outside, but the rooms are very clean and beds very comfortable. The price of a load of laundry was reasonable (about AUD$30) and was charged by the load rather than per piece.

Merci beaucoup :)

Nice layout and restaurant cadre. The bungalow was dark making it difficult to work or read without artificial light, and sitting outside was often not possible due to strong winds. The lack of glass windows (only shades) can make it cold and noisy at night, and it turns out the hotel is located in the windiest spot on the island. The bungalows could also use some refurbishment. Some of the hotel staff were nice and some were rather rude, which makes for a half-friendly atmosphere. In the end I regretted not having chosen a simpler but more authentic "chez l'habitant" type of accommodation on the island.
