We were greeted by Vito personally and the evening was promising. The restaurant was very full and the service staff were not really up to the challenge. The food was good, however our friend was disappointed with her salad which was very basic. The meat dishes were very tasty and we'll presented. We would have hoped for a wider range of deserts.

In our estimation, this is truly a 5-star restaurant in all respects: food, wines, ambiance and service. We generally don't eat in the same place two nights in a row, but after such a fabulous dinner the first night, we just had to go back to try other dishes. To start, they serve warm bread with 2 different spreads: a tomato aoli and an herbed cheese. Then a small appetizer about 2 bites in size, but oh so delicious! The first night, we had the carrot curry mouse soup and the potato blini with chanterelles followed by the Meppener Spieà (pork tenderloin) and the saddle of lamb. The preparation and flavors were exquisite! The second night we went a little lighter: I had the Terrine of Salmon and Scallop and hubby had the chicken breast stuffed with olives. Again, the food was just excellent. Their wine list offers a nice variety of fine wines, and by the glass too! The decor is very tasteful, setting the mood for a fine dining experience, including well-selected, beautiful, peaceful music. I would definitely dine here again...and again.

This hotel is charming, and the food is spectacular! We asked the waitress (who didn't speak much English, but we used "sign" language to figure everything out--LOL!) what she recommended, and she pointed to some sort of "shared" meal (can't remember exactly what it's called on the menu). Every single thing that we ate was incredible. We started off the meal with the mushroom soup, and I highly encourage you to try this. It's the best I've ever had, and I thought I had had good mushroom soup before this. The "shared" meal had turkey, beef, duck, some sort of fried potatoes, vegetables including green beans with bacon, cauliflower, mushrooms, and apples with cranberries. If you're ever in Meppen, make a point of having at least one meal at this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.
Niet bijzonder. Wel vriendelijke mensen. Schoon en netjes en eten ook redelijk. Het blijft behelpen langs de autobahn, maar ze doen in iedergeval hun best
The Alte Dorfkrug in Andrup is family owned and operated. Furnishings and decoration provide a nice and welcoming character. Food is good and service is friendly. We came on a weekday and the place was rather busy, a good sign. The menu is traditional Landküche. We went for classical courses and wine & beer. We were pleasantly surprised. Dishes are well presented and tasty. The Alte Dorfkrug is a true value for money restaurant. We recommend Alte Dorfkrug to anyone who seeks nice food accompanied by a good glass in a pleasant ambiance.

Empfehlenwert!
We visited this restaurant yesterday. The food was very good, souvlaki were especially delicious, portions were more than enough - we couldn't even finish it. We had to wait about an hour for our food, which was a bit disappointing. We also got white wine, instead of red that we ordered, but as we had to wait a while to get it, we didn't take risk by asking to change it. Overall the atmosphere was very nice. We were offered an aperitif to start with.

Although we know that the service of Mr Sanders' team is not the best in Emsland but the food it is definitely.1 day before Christmas eve we went there and we didn't get disappointed. The seafood (incl. very fresh oysters!) and fish was delicious and Mr Sanders' game is always very good.If you are patient client then Jagdhaus Wiedehage will not disappoint you!Bon appetit.
