The Al Mare is not a good restaurant, but there is no one good restaurant in Steinhude, that's the problem. If you like to eat somewhat Italians is the Al Mare ok, nothing special, but eatable. Only the pizza are horrible, quite thick and fatty... Also the wine offers is not really good...

If I lived in Hannover, I would probably not make the trip all the way to Wunstorf for this restaurant, but for the area around Wunstorf, it is the only restaurant I'd strongly recommend. The restaurant is in a renovated old "Fachwerkhaus" that is charming. The staff is friendly and the chef, Silvano, often greets you personally, although he may be in the kitchen preparing the meals. There is a good anti-pasta buffet from which you can select your favorite starters: grilled zucchini, grilled peppers, white beans, artichokes, etc. Nothing spectacular, but a good selection. There are always daily specials that are not on the menu and these can be recommended; a homemade pasta with pesto or fresh flounder or lamb chops. What Silvano does really, really well is his steaks - not something you would immediately think of in an Italian restaurant. Better than what you get at Blockhaus. They use only Argentinean filet and they are superb. He also does an "Involtini" rolled up beef filled with Parmesan and Parma ham that is fantastic. All main courses (aside from pasta dishes) are served with roasted potatoes and a medley of one or two vegetables that varies from day to day. Sometimes this includes a cabbage with cream sauce (Wirsing) that is excellent and green beans, other times it is steamed broccoli and cauliflower, which is rather boring. The dessert selection is nothing special. There are good wines to buy by the bottle. A Grappa or Averna is usually given gratis at the end of the meal. All in all, Silvano is definitely worth the trip for his steaks and fresh flounder. He does all the usual pastas well. The accompanying vegetables can be good or so-so.

Don't miss this restaurant! Angelo, the owner/operator takes meticulous care of every aspect of fine dining in this little gem (37 seats) in Luthe, not far from Hannover. He personally welcomes you as you enter and continues to ensure that your dining experience is one not to be forgotten. Do not add salt or pepper to your exquisitely prepared meal. Angelo's two chefs ensure that everything is perfectly seasoned before it leaves the kitchen. The true test of excellence was the arrival of my Argentinian steak and accompanying potatoes and vegetables cooked to absolute perfection without any input of preference from me. And the Sardinian wine recommended by Angelo was second to none.

I came to this suburb of Wunstorf as I had read the good review of the other Italian Restaurant about 600m away (Trattoria) but as it was Tuesday it was closed so I came here instead. It was a beautiful warm evening in May and I was stunned to see this restaurant annexed to a openair swimming area where the water is completely without chemicals due to natural filtration. A very simple Italian restaurant where the indoors is quite nice and the outside seating is fast food atmosphere which I found a real shame. However the house red is very cheap at only euro 3.50 for a 2dl glass and my pizza was also good value at euro 8. There are a few more choices such as pasta (which I had for lunch) and grilled steak. The pizza was not in a pizza ofen but tasted as if it had been. All in all a very nice experience especially if you can combine it with swimming!
