Reviews on Southwestern food in Shreveport, Louisiana, United States. The Red River is the heart and soul of Shreveport, a cultural and gaming center on the Louisiana/Texas border. Riverboat casinos evoke the glamour and mystery of the past while providing modern travelers with thrills and excitement. If the tables aren't your style, take a trip over the neon-lit Texas Street Bridge to the horse-racing at Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, Shreveport's thriving sister city. Visitors can unwind in one of Shreveport's botanical oases and enjoy the area's fine waterfront dining, shopping and entertainment. Shreveport sizzles in the summertime but has a temperate climate for the rest of the year.

My wife and I have eaten here several times before when visiting Shreveport over the past few years, and have found the food and service to be consistently superior. This visit my wife had Tacos Barbacoa, two pulled pork tacos, the meat being nestled in hand-made corn tortillas These are served with a generous portion of Mexican rice and some of the best (I tried them) re fried beans that either of us have had. These were black beans instead of the usual type, prepared in the usual manner but with unknown spices that really light up your taste buds. She thought that the tacos were exceptional. As last time, I had the Relleno Camarones, a large breaded chili relleno stuffed with gulf shrimp and smothered with rich cheese, roasted red peppers, and other Mexican vegetables. I am at a loss for appropriate superlatives with which to describe how delicious it was. The pepper was served with a side of green rice, which complimented the symphony of flavors presented by the relleno. The salsa (two types--mild and warm verging on hot) was excellent. Our server, "Finch", was attentive and professional, and a credit to this establishment.

Touted as some of the best Mexican food in town, Tacomania is a Mexico City Cantina. A favorite of Shreveport and Bossier City patrons, Tacomania offers a diverse and extensive menu of Mexico, Tex-Mex and California cuisine. Tacomania has been highly rate
We eat at tacomania often. At least several times a month. Itâs always great and fast. I love the fajitas and quesadillas, the nachos are good too. My husband loves the burritos. All around great local place for a great meal and reasonable prices.

Un
First the food - quite good actually. This tex-mex restaurant was not crowded at all which, at first, concerned me (if it's not crowded it can't be good mentality) ;-) But I have to say the food WAS good, the menu offers quite a variety and is reasonably priced. There is an outdoor dining area but we chose to eat inside as it's not quite warm enough to be outside just yet. I wanted to sub some pico de gallo for rice and the waitress said if I wanted, she could give me grilled veggies in place of the rice and beans. It was perfect. The grilled chicken had a chipotle lime sauce that was very tasty. Overall, I was very pleased.

Delicious!!!!!! I had the "Tezmanian" --a quesadilla with fried chicken, jalapenos, pickles, green onions, and tons of white cheese. Additionally, I asked for a side of their bacon jalapeno dressing, and together, this was a meal made in heaven! Oh, and we started with the queso appetizer ADD chorizo. Super flavorful. The atmosphere is up there with the best. It's a downtown spot (street parking); one long wall is a beautifully stocked bar and the other long wall is fully glass, and nextdoor is an art gallery with sections for local artists who display their art AND show their techniques. That's what we got to see during our lunch--lovvved it! Too bad I don't live in or near Shreveport; this is a gem and I want to go here every week!

The food and service are consistently excellent. My wife and I have dined here many times and always enjoy it. Fancy, it's not, but wow does is the food excellent and fresh. The service has that purposeful and personal flair that I always enjoy. They always get it right. Not a place that invites lingering, but if you're looking for good food in a welcoming atmosphere, look no further.Dr. Scott says: Try it with confidence.

This place is ALWAYS packed so I guess itâs good to some degree. I love the margaritas but waaaaaay over priced. The food is ok just know that if you get anything extra that should probably come with the meal like pico, sour cream, guacamole etc...itâs extra. Like I said itâs ok, but Iâm sure I wonât return.
