Poor Boy Lloyd's

When you go to a restaurant famous for anything, get it. We visited Lloyd’s twice while visiting Baton Rouge for a wedding. The first visit we ordered seafood, and well, there is no sea in Baton Rouge so I don’t know why I did that. The second visit we ordered a roast beef poboy and it was excellent. Just as good as any New Orleans poboy I have ever had. The restaurant is a very old school diner type and very enjoyable. The staff are all very nice and will conversate with you all afternoon if you give them the chance. Definitely a must do in Baton Rouge.

I had high expectations for this place as the previous restaurant that was here was wonderful. I first ordered the chicken salad sandwich with no lettuce and the waitress laughed at me. Didn’t know what was so funny about my order until later I realized she thought I meant an actual chicken salad when she asked me which dressing. The restaurant was out of chicken salad mix so I ordered the BLT.... I received burnt bacon crumbled up in a heap. As soon as I picked up the sandwich the best I could it all fell out and tasted very burnt from what I managed to get in my mouth. My husbands food was mediocre, he ordered the shrimp poboy which the shrimp still had the tails on. Our app we had was good however, the cheese curds were tasty. Really sad Francois Cafe is gone and hope that La Mange can improve. Thanks for your feedback. Your feedback means a lot to us. We are sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your La Mange' experience. We served over 3,700 people during our first two weeks of opening and ran out of certain menu items. Since opening 30 days ago our ordering systems and staff have drastically improved. We strive to bring our customers the best in Cajun Creole food and hospitality. We would hope you would visit us again when you're in the area. Thanks

Bellue’s is old school style but the food is on point. The owner is a former Baton Rouge police officer and has kept this traditional style food joint going for a long time. He says “why change something that works”. “No need in gettin greedy”. We had the pleasure of talking to Bellue and I can’t thank him enough for his hospitality. His stories are like chapters in a priceless book. If you visit Baton Rouge you must try this out. From the sounds of it Bellue doesn’t appear to be sliding down anytime soon.

Went to this place and fell head over heels in love. I had an overstuffed fried shrimp poboy and indeed it was overstuffed and delicious!! The catfish was amazing, it didn't have that super fresh fishy taste and was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Their boudin and alligator balls were also great. My family and I have established an agreement where every time we visit Louisiana, it is a requirement to stop by this place. It's a small restaurant, but the food is great and full of flavor. Don't let the size of the place fool you! I encourage all to try it.

Sammy's Grill

Zachary is a small town with not a whole lot to offer in a culinary way, so I am not surprised people are happy with this place. It IS better than fast food. First off...my wife is born and bread Southern Louisiana. Her review..."Yuk." Add insult to injury, our server would flat disappear at times and it took forever to get our food. The place was not busy. The only saving grace was they had some excellent Louisiana brews on tap. I have been to other Sammy's. The food was slightly better, but the service was much much better.

Just happened to drive by this little place, while heading back north. The food here is fantastic! The fish is very lightly breaded. The hushpuppies had jalapeno in them. The slaw had a flavor we had never tasted before. While talking to Brittny, she said her cook makes the slaw dressing himself. Although, it's not for sale (yet) she gave us a small container of it to take home! This is not just a restaurant, it's also a fresh market. There is a nice selection, too. She bagged everything up and packed our cooler full of ice and an ice pack... it made it all the way to Indiana with no problem.Prices are very reasonable. We don't come thru this way very often, but will make a point to stop every time we are.Thank you for your hospitality, Brittny, Hope to see you soon!
