Louisiana tourism is centered on New Orleans and the North Shore region in the southeastern corner of the state near the Florida border. West of New Orleans is the Great River Road, with the I-10 running to the Mississippi River port capital city of Baton Rogue. West of New Orleans along the Gulf of Mexico, the I-10 cuts through Lafayette and Lake Charles on its way past Abbeville to Texas. Central Louisiana is Lake Country, and home to cities like Alexandria and Natchitoches. In northern Louisiana, the I-20 runs west from Monroe to Bossier City, Shreveport, and East Texas. Unless Louisiana is very familiar and frequent territory, New Orleans will be the top choice for a Louisiana vacation. Though Mardi Gras, music, and the winning ways of the New Orleans Saints football team get the spotlight, there is much more to explore in New Orleans. Within New Orleans choose among Bourbon Street, Royal Street, the Upper and Lower French Quarters, the Warehouse and Central Business District, the Garden District and Uptown, and Mid-City. With street car lines linking the French Quarter to the Garden District, Convention Center, and everywhere else, it is easy for the whole family to get around. If long walks are your exercise, explore the scenic city on foot. An easy two-hour drive from New Orleans brings you to Baton Rogue, Natchitoches and Lake Country. Explore old Beauregard Town in downtown Baton Rogue, the historic homes of the Baton Rogue Garden District, and tour one or several working plantations. Walk the 33-block Historic Landmark District and tour the historic homes and churches of Natchitoches. Relive Spanish Empire history in Louisiana at Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site. Heading west from New Orleans is Cajun Country and Lafayette with its mix of French, French Canadian (Acadian), Spanish, and Caribbean cultures. Besides Cajun and Creole cookery, explore the Civil War heritage at the Lafayette Museum. Stop by Abbeville to view the courthouse designed by Hayes Town, St. Mary Magdalen Church, and have a seafood meal. With 75 annual festivals Lake Charles is Louisiana's Festival City, and home to the Creole Nature Trail Scenic Byway. Shreveport and Bossier City in northwest Louisiana are casino and entertainment centers. Shreveport is renowned for hosting the Louisiana State Fair in the fall. Plus floral centers, art galleries, and museums. Monroe in the northeast also has notable gardens.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The host, Brent, was wonderful. The breakfast was high quality and the house itself was lovely. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and will be back for sure. The location is also ideal for tourists as you are close enough to town to enjoy the sights by either taking a trolley or a 7-10 minute drive in your car.

Whether you are looking for a place for the night or a weekend away, come stay at Church Street Inn, with our deluxe guest rooms you wont regret staying at our hotel in Natchitoches, LA.
Very welcoming, comfortable, affordable in the center of the action. Hot breakfast, not just pastries and coffee. A boutique hotel with all the charm of bed and breakfast. Gated parking. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. We had stayed in the Hilton in Shreveport the two previous nights, and this was far better for half the cost!

My husband and I visited NOLA for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ashton’s. We booked The Cajun Kitchen (Room 5). It’s small and cozy and was perfect for us since it’s more private. The bed and linens were very comfortable, and the whirlpool bath was relaxing. Breakfast was delicious! I requested an alternative meal for dietary restrictions and the Ashtons were happy to oblige. There was always coffee, tea, water, sodas, fruit and snacks available. Karma gave excellent recommendations for places to eat and public transportation. We ended up taking the bus a lot since there is a stop close to the B&B. The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful and historic, and we enjoyed just walking around the area. The yard cat is a bonus for animal lovers. Patrick and Karma have literally thought of everything, so just pack your clothes and toothbrush! Thanks for a wonderful first visit, Ashtons! We will definitely be back! Mike & Paige Z.

Our bed and breakfast is a newer facility across the pond from the mansion. The upstairs rooms have a view of the mansion and pond. The downstairs rooms are built into a hill and offer a view of the pasture. The mansion is open to the public for tours.
A beautiful plantation including a tour by owners who provide a thorough historical explanation for guests at their excellent on site B&B. It's in a picturesque rural setting on 300 acres near the Mississippi River just north of St Francisville, LA which was an 1800s commercial river port like Natchez and Vicksburg, MS.

With 19th Century roots this fourteen room mansion was originally the private home of the Galiese Family. Now, over a hundred years later we're dedicated to providing the best boutique hotel experience in New Orleans. We're located in the residential area of Bourbon Street & the French Quarter. Guests enjoy both the sights and sounds of Bourbon Street as well as a retreat into their own personal French Quarter home. With 14 expertly appointed guest rooms, balconies overlooking Bourbon Street, and a gorgeous and serene courtyard, Lafitte Guest House is the perfect place for friends to gather, travelers to rest, adventurers to explore any time of year and any day of the week. Rooms are spacious and uniquely decorated with antiques and reproduction art from around the world. Staying with us is like staying in a private French Quarter residence. Look no further for the greatest escape.
My friend and I booked a girls weekend here just as Delta was ramping up. When we had to postpone because of Covid issues, they were so accommodating, offering us a refund or credit. We opted for the credit so we knew we'd make the trip. And from start to finish, the staff was so very friendly and helpful. Whether it was advice on things to do/see/eat or just hanging out with other guests at the downstairs bar (you will get talked into trying a voodoo daiquiri), we just enjoyed the atmosphere and camaraderie of the place. We had a 16 year old with us and even she loved it. The building is old and historical. The bannisters are lovely. There is local art on the walls heading all the way up. We stayed in Room 40, the loft. You can take the elevator to the 3rd floor but then need to walk up a flight so be prepared. It's a huge room with two large queen comfy beds, a sitting area, a small but functional bathroom, and a large well lit vanity for getting ready. The three of us could use the space. You have plenty of room to stretch out and not feel on top of each other. Also the views from this room are gorgeous with multiple vistas. As mentioned in previous reviews, you do need to turn on the water a few minutes before you want to shower so the hot water works it way up. I would also say the shower pressure could be better, but the rain water shower head is lovely. There is also plenty of drawer space in antique dressers/nightstands/vanity table if you like to unpack. Lastly, I always bring ear plugs when I travel but was really surprised at how quiet it was given there is a bustling (also historic) bar across the street. We stayed during the week so that might make a difference. They also have a driver available for airport runs. Be sure to ask before you go! Note that this hotel is said to be haunted. If you're sensitive, keep that in mind. To sum up, an excellent location in the heart of the French Quarter that's just far enough away from the hubbub to make things accessible without all the noise.

We felt welcomed before we ever arrived. The morning of our stay I received a call from the owner John welcoming us for that afternoon and letting us know where we’d find our keys, the door code and an envelope containing information. He also sent a text with the information and directions on how to get there. When we arrived we learned that we had free parking right out front and the outside of the B&B was eclectic and inviting. I easily found the items John told me about earlier in the day and when we walked in we were greeted with candy and snack trays everywhere we looked, along with several coffee stations and a nook that was an open bar. Our room was cozy and inviting and the bed was so comfy! It was probably the best nights sleep away from home we ever had. It was so relaxing to sit out on the balcony with a glass of red wine with my husband. This morning we had a delicious breakfast with fresh juices and coffee and then again we spent time in the backyard drinking coffee. We got to talk with John and love on his well mannered dogs and he gifted us with a very cool portrait of the B&B. We honestly didn’t want to leave. This place will be our first choice to stay the next time we’re in Shreveport. P.S. the entire neighborhood has beautiful old homes.

New Orleans Guesthouse is located across the street from the World Famous French Quarter and just 3 blocks from Bourbon Street The 14 individually appointed rooms have cable TV and free WiFi. Some rooms include antique furnishings. A beautifully renovated courtyard with patio seating is the setting for our complimentary continental breakfast.
I love staying at little b&b type places and historic inns...the staff was so incredibly kind and helpful, especially the housekeeping lady who went above and beyond for us. This was my 3rd time to NOLA and really the first time I felt any kind of "unsafe" in the area. Nothing to do with the hotel, just the area in general. We had a major situation on the ghost tour we were on and kind of set the tone for the couple of days here. Not sure that I would personally return to NOLA, but if you are looking for a cute, affordable place to stay near the FQ with super friendly staff...this is it. I loved on site parking as well as being able to request a balcony room.

I had a wonderful time at the Sweet Cane Inn. The room was quite comfortable and breakfasts as delicious. The inn keeper was friendly, professional, and super knowledgable of the inn’s history. There are great restaurants and sites to visit in the area, many within walking distance. Highly recommend this establishment.

The Legendary Plantation Mouton (Bois Des Chenes), locaated in downtown Lafayette in sterling grove historical district. Built by Charles Mouton, the grandson of the city's founder. Award Winning Cajun Gourmet Breakfast and Cocktail Hour with True Cajun Hospitality, Cest Bon! Great Stay awaits!
We enjoyed our stay in the Luve Oak room if this friendly B and B. We had a warm welcome from the owner who every afternoon does cocktails and chat for new arrivals and existing guests. Our room was well decorated and equipped and the breakfast was substantial. The B and B is within the Sterling Grove Heritage area and we had a pleasant walk round there one afternoon. Highly Recommended.

Balcony Guest House, in the historic Faubourg-Marigny, is your New Orleans Bed and Breakfast above Silk Road NOLA restaurant (ground floor). Come and stay in our unique New Orleans Bed and Breakfast and see why everyone who stays here loves it. Only six blocks from the French Quarter, four blocks from Frenchmen street and three blocks from the Mississippi River. Historic, alluring and relaxed (Creole Caribe), with a New Orleans style wrap-around balcony.
Almost everything went wrong here. First of all, I was overcharged for my stay. Property management was not willing to work with me on this even given a months notice ahead and started to threaten cancelling my stay over $75 during Mardi Gras season stating that I was a red flag for trying to understand why I was charged for an additional person that was not a part of the reservation. I was told not to reach out to booking.com and am now out this amount. I’ve attached these to this review. Second, the area is not safe and we felt very uncomfortable each night. As mentioned in other reviews, roaches can be seen throughout the hotel/property and this was a major concern for cleanliness. At night we also heard little footsteps around which we thought may be mice. I did not feel as though I could contact this property with any concerns I had because of the way that they handled our initial problem - definitely a toxic environment over such a small amount of money. The walls are very thin and so you can hear everything that other tenants are doing (sexual activity, discussions and also just showering). Everything is very out dated and even one of the windows was shattered. I didn’t even feel comfortable parking my car outside. No soap, shampoo or conditioner were provided. Honestly, if I wouldn’t have booked this 8 months ahead I would have done this whole thing completely different as they shamed me for trying to save money for booking in advance. I do not recommend this property for families or a group of friends (specifically women). I’ve never dealt with this level of unprofessionalism and I have traveled to all 50 states and 14 countries. Please save yourself the trouble and safety as New Orleans is already known for being potentially unsafe; this property enhances it.
