Make the port town of Iquitos your base camp for exploring the Peruvian Amazon basin. The river and rainforest are the main attractions, of course, and once in Iquitos it's easy to book a stay at one of numerous nearby jungle lodges. Closer to town, travelers recommend visiting the market and "floating village" of Belen, seeing colorful creatures at the butterfly farm and animal rescue center, and taking a cruise on the great river.

This was the first restaurant I ate in when visiting Iquitos. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. I ordered a traditional beef dish and it did not disappoint. The meat was very tender, and the serving size was huge. It was on the pricier side for Iquitos, but when converted to U.S. dollars it was very reasonable. We had a group of 14 and they had no problem seating and serving us.

We visit Iquitos every year and this is our favourite restaurant.Chef Paz prepares a variety of local dishes and on or last visit had imported some Argentinian beef steaks.Very nice but we love his ceviches and chicherons which are up there among the best in Peru - and elsewhere for that matter. He does excellent lunch specials too at very reasonable prices.
Where to eat Italian food in Iquitos: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Itâs amazing how the local businesses are located and it is the same on this busy corner. Four chicken / polleria restaurants serving great food on the corners. Very little English spoken but basics helps. Busy , delicious chicken which is part of local. We took back the mountain of rice and chips for the street children. Portions are big so you share . Great value .

Our tour group (24 persons) dropped by for lu ch about 13:30 on a Sunday afternoon. We had called our order in earlier. Service was fast and friendly. We all received our appetizers and then our entrees together as a group. The restraint gave each of us a choose of 4 appetizers and 5 entrees, although their menu is much larger. Wifi (ask for password), beer (large beer is S/9). Credit cards accepted with minimum order of S/30. Many Thanks dear Ernie, We are very pleased that you enjoyed our service, We hope you can Visit us soon again.
Sabores y parrillas is a retaurant, where you can find a good service, tasty grill and regional food, and clean areas.
The location, at Calle Fitzcarrald near Central Square, is easy to reach. The offer looks with a nice variety of both local and Peruvian meals. The local does not look old or shabby, on the contrary. You will spect a middle-top end restaurant.I was serviced by a woman, but she did not understand my order and asked not back, so she omitted part of my order. Meanwhile, I was taking pictures of the table. As the first dish took to long was about to ask and she was bringing me the main course. Asking about the first dish, she wanted to bring it now, because she did not get it. I did not want to mix the two dishes so I asked just for another portion of the salted banana (at most 20-30 gr). She went and came back fast, "no sir, we cannot give you another portion, because they are too expensive".... I was cold. Was paying an expensive dish and they were crying for peanuts....The fish I et was OK. but with the service... I took a picture for my archives and eat fast, drank my drink, paid and run out!So, if you want to eat here, be sure to bring your own chips!!!! There are plenty of other restaurants in the same neighborhood.
