We enjoyed a great lunch at Metropol. This locals favorite is well worth it with abundant authentic Cuban and Puerto Rican food. Don’t be thrown by the humble street entrance. Once inside you can smell the rich aromas and are welcomed by a friendly attentive team.
We enjoyed one of the best black bean soups ever (seriously great) followed by Empanadas and the Cuban specialty plate.
The portions are large so sharing the entree specialty was perfect. We were filled and happy.
One thing we really appreciate is the sense of family, longevity, consistency and quality. All are here at Metropol. This has earned its reputation and delivers. Make sure you fit it in to your schedule.

We stopped here for some local Puertorican food. Everything is made to order. You place your order, give the order to the cook and wait for your name to be called. We had the BBQ chicken skewers and plantain stuffed with ground beef. Excellent

Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary was made very special by the service and food at BLT. The service was probably the best I have EVER experience. The food was exceptional. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Puerto Rico.

Since our beginning in 1972 we strived to provide the best products to our new clients as well as to those that visit us on a regular basis. Even those travelers that during their brief stay in Puerto Rico, step out of the airport and visit us just to have a taste of the wonderfull things that they have heard of “La España”. Our menu is one that holds and respects an enormous tradition. From our daily baked bread to our coffee served hot every time. From our sandwiches made with the best products to that pastry that melts in your mouth. From that exquisite seafood paella, to that our very traditional galician soup. Many recepies come from past genetations and others we have given a personal twist, this way offering a unique product to those that enjoy our delicious variety. Our passion for quality is what drives us. We are in a constant lookout for better ingredients and products so we can always guarantee our best to every customer.
I've both eaten in and had take-out from Panaderia Espania and have loved it both times. This isn't just a place to get amazing food, it's a place to really join the local San Juan scene - even if just for a moment. The coffee is hot (and sweet if that's the way you like it.) The eggs and sandwiches are excellent. I'd say that the portions are pretty generous for the prices too.
I visited about a week before Hurricane Maria hit. So - I don't know what the current status is right now...

El Toston Criollo Restaurant was recommended by friends to meet for a get together. The parking is complicated and busy, few spaces nearby. The place is nice and well decorated. The menu has variety of options. The service is not too good. Staff needs to improve. I ordered my seafood with salad and "Tostones" ( Puerto Rican side dish) but they brought One big "Toston". Then I ordered Coconut Mojito (Which I love) thinking on having more, but I couldn't get any because they didn't have lemons! That was a real deception... Then when asking for dessert to the waitress, she didn't describe them as good and didn't have any motivation to bring any. Also they have a sign that the ATM/Credit card machine wasn't accepting tips. Tips were cash only. Well it wasn't a good night. Let's see some other day...

Breakfast and lunch, all kinds of pastries and cakes, opens from 6:00 am to 9:30 pm Monday to Sunday
Great place to have breakfast or lunch; loved their coffee and "Sobao' bread" (soft bread) you can eat all the bread at once, it's sold by pound and believe me it's the best. They have a variety of pastries and sandwiches, also, you can order scramble eggs with toasts. This is not a huge place but a lot of people go there everyday; the food worth the wait!

This is a great little beach cafe along the road between Loiza and San Juan. The long lines attest to its popularity with Puerto Ricans, and the food is great and deep fried.
We stopped here on our way back to San Juan from El Yunque...and we're happy that we did! We heard about Borcuia the day before on a food/walking tour of Old San Juan. Our tour guide told us this was the best kiosk in Pinones. I can't confirm that, but the roasted pork was Fantastic as was the mofongo with shrimp. Great flavors and definitely worth the detour off the highway! However, even though it wasn't a busy day - it was raining, so only a few people were there, they had the music Blasting, which was a bit annoying.

If you wanna get a taste of authentic Puerto Rican food and are on a budget, this is the place to go! Always busy, always fresh, delicious and inexpensive. We've been coming here countless times. I have tried the pernil, pollo asado, longaniza de pollo, morcilla, batata, arroz con gandules, arroz blanco con habichuelas and tostones de pana. Every single thing was DELICIOUS. Hard to imagine anyone wouldn't like this food, it's just so good!!!

Fern’s design is based on the many cultural influences throughout the Caribbean; a fusion of Latin and Afro-Caribbean materials and textures interpreted in a contemporary manner within a Spanish Colonial Building. The rich brown textured floor is a nod to the early cigar plantation and has a reclaimed texture and feel. This is matched up against very modern silver leafed cork walls accented with handcrafted modern African light fixtures. The red accents reflect the energy and passion of the Puerto Rican culture. The style of furniture is an eclectic blend of range of styles from the mid 20th century to the modern organic lines of today. The design acts as a backdrop to “frame” the spectacular ocean view; the materials chosen reference the indigenous materials found by the sea and reflect the sparkle and luminosity of the moonlight on the ocean. The space is meant to captivate and maintain interest, while providing a quiet sophisticated backdrop for the preparations of Jean-Georges. Dress code: Breakfast: The dress code for breakfast is resort casual. Shirts, shoes (not barefoot), and bathing suit cover ups are required. Dinner: The dress code for dinner is resort upscale. Bathing suits, sleeveless t-shirts/tank tops, men's shorts and beach flip flops are not permitted.
Fern is an excellent restaurant. The food is exceptional, as is the service. There is a dress code (pants for men - though we did see some men in shorts, but I would not feel comfortable in shorts). You can wear a jacket, though you don't need to. We ate here 2 nights we were at the St. Regis. The least expensive was $220, the most was $320 (w/ drinks). All in all, not to be missed. It is a great restaurant.
