Paradise on the Zambesi River

I recently had the privilege of staying at The David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa again. Although this was my second visit, I was still in awe with the magnificent reception area and the breathtaking views of the river. My room was superb and there was nothing lacking in terms of amenities. The check-in process was efficient, and the staff were friendly and attentive from start to finish. Truly Zambian hospitality at its finest. Zambia did not disappoint and offered the most magnificent sunset on a cruise on the Lady Livingstone. Highly recommended for business and leisure travel, due to the hotel's excellent location and proximity to all attractions.

Victoria Falls Waterfront

The Victoria Falls Waterfront is situated on the Northern banks of the Zambezi River, approximately 4 km's upstream from The Victoria Falls and just opposite Siloka (Long) Island. This establishment is designed to attract the younger more adventurous traveller (and of course the young at heart!) who wish to experience the Great Zambezi River, the wonder of the Victoria Falls and its stunning wildlife surrounds, without great expense. It is designed to cater for all travellers, from camping to basic, good quality chalet accommodation. The Waterfront has some lovely riverside chalets with balconies and stunning views. We also have Adventure Village Tents which are permanent tents with 2 x single beds and a campsite - so something to suit everyone. The lodge has fantastic amenities including 2 x swimming pools, a popular bar, restaurant with Peppino's by the river's pizza's (delicious!). There is also an internet cafe, wifi, small souvenir shop and a large activity centre who will help with all activities in the area.

Had a good experiance at waterside lodge. Room was cleaned daily and comfortable with a riverside location with amazing sunset view. The hotel location is by the riverside which is a bit out of town and would need taxi transfer to all sites including the Falls. I had a phone number of a great taxi driver which proved valuable for getting around. All staff at the hotel were welcoming. The bar and restaurant suited me as solo traveller which is what had motivated me to stay there rather than a large hotel group which might have had more luxury facilities . over all I enjoyed my stay at the waterside lodge

Wonderful boutique hotel with amazing service

Reviewed By traceymohair

4 of us stayed at Ngoma Zanga Lodge for four nights and it felt like a home away from home (if my home was a beautifully decorated home with African art, a pool and great weather!). Rita, Kennedy snd the rest of the team could not have looked after us better. Nothing was too much trouble. My room was lovely with a big comfortable bed and a lovely hot shower.

Protea Hotel by Marriott Livingstone

Great visit and wish I could rate higher!

Reviewed By formeryogi

This is actually a hard review to write. I really liked this hotel and was super impressed. It is worthy of your consideration and I would not hesitate to stay at this property again. I would love to rate it higher, but I can't out of fairness. The staff was so warm and friendly and eager to please. All were well trained and had true smiles on their faces. The restaurant is a deal! The food was excellent and, when compared to the usual hotel restaurants found around the world, offered the best value I've ever experienced at a hotel. It was so good, we ate dinner at the hotel two nights in a row. I highly recommend ordering the large sample platters rather than a regular "entree meal." They provided a wonderful taste of the various dishes-- this way you do not have to debate and decide what to order! Fantastic and well prepared. The second night we ordered regular dinners based on items we tried the night before. The hotel rooms are totally fine. Nothing is wrong with the rooms, however I would describe them as "mid level" for expectation purposes. By Marriott standards, they are below a regular "Marriott" hotel but they are a higher level than a Fairfield Inn -- if you think in American terms. We chose this hotel because it was a Marriott. We used points for two nights (the needed point redemption was so small by American standards that I felt almost feel the hotel was cheated!). You can NOT beat the value!!!! Here's my ratings problem. As great as this hotel is on so many levels, it really is not in the same universe as true five-star luxury properties. We were in Zambia for a Safari. We arrived two days before our "official" tour began to get our bodies adjusted to the time difference and to eliminate any possible flight delays. Our booked Safari started in Livingstone with two nights at the Luxury Royal Livingstone Hotel. So when you compare the ultra high level of service (we had private butlers) and the luxury fittings of the rooms at the Royal to the Protea Marriott... well you can't. But still, I don't want to diminish the service, food and overall experience we enjoyed at the Protea. It's an excellent choice, it's just not five-star luxury.

They fetch you by boat & from there, the experience is magical! The staff were wonderful! The food spectacular, look out for Chef Tawanda, he's a star! We had rest , relaxation and adventure, it was everything! The best feature for me was the beautiful spacious suites and the sunset river cruise! I will never forget this place! My favourite place to stay. Air conditioned rooms are a game changer when its so hot and humid. Really nice hang out spots both inside, by the pool and out, solid kitchen set up and easy walking distance to town and close to Victoria Falls by car. The staff are incredible, some of the nicest people you will meet and really trustworthy. Many a time mine the staff have given myself or my mates our phones or wallets back after a messy night of too many mosi's. Cheers to everyone at Jollyboys for being so rad! Catch you again next year!

Stay here! Beautiful luxury tented Villas on the Zambezi River surrounded by an abundance of wildlife and incredible views. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean with very comfortable King Beds, excellent Wi-Fi and fantastic bathrooms and showers. There is an open air deck for meals with a fully-stocked bar. The pool is perfect and welcoming during the hot months. The entire place is great, but the staff really takes it to a next level. Communicating with Salome during booking was a pleasure and Fisher, our waiter/bartender was attentive and kind. Definitely would stay here again.

A nice little lodge

Reviewed By kuu-kanko

Kamunjila was a small lodge not far from the main business area of Livingstone town. It had a nice setting with trees and other vegetation and a pool. My room was pretty simple and basic, but there were flowers in the room to give some character. The room was clean and worked well, even though the quality of construction was quite low, e.g. doors were smaller than the door openings. When the front door was closed, such an opening was left between the door and the frame that the door didn't lock properly. The room was equipped with aircon and both UK and South African power sockets. The bed had a mosquito net. The shower wasn't up to Western standards, but did the job (the water was warm, but it took a while for it to warm up, and the water pressure was not great, but sufficient). WiFi worked mostly well, but sometimes it got slow. The area was quiet. The lodge water tanks were right next to my room and the sound of the water pump (or something similar) disturbed slightly. The business area of Livingstone town was a bit over 5 minutes away by foot, but it wasn't very useful for a tourist, as it had mostly shops and services targeted for locals (clothing, banks, etc.). There were a few supermarkets and some restaurants there. The Livingstone museum was about 15 minutes away by foot. A small lodge like this would easily get wonderful reviews by having a great service attitude. Unfortunately Kamunjila missed that opportunity. Looking at earlier reviews, I was probably served mostly by a different member of staff. I had to ask separately for almost every detail and often the answer was very short. E.g. I asked when the breakfast is and was told to come at 07:30. When I came, I saw it was a buffet, so it probably doesn't have an exact timing. I also asked where I could change money and was told to go change on the street without any further instructions (another guest overheard the discussion and was so kind to change money for me). The breakfast had pancakes, muffins, toast, cereals, juice, coffee, tea and a fresh fried egg and bacon. The lodge also served dinner. The dinner was quite pricey: I paid $45 for two dinners with dessert but without drinks. The quality of food was not up to the price, e.g. the chicken in my chicken curry was chewy.
