During an evening in an unfamiliar city and country, In Den Dorstigen Haen proved the perfect place to beSituated in the market place opposite the City Hall, the bar manager/owner of this typically Dutch cafe bar couldnât have been more welcoming and helpful. There is a wide choice of food and a fine selection of beers. Everything we tried was of a very high standard and coupled with good value, great service and a wonderfully authentic atmosphere we really couldnât have asked for more.

The restaurant is pleasantly decorated and has an unpretentious, relaxing vibe. The staff were cheery and quickly took our orders. They offer a couple of dishes without meat or fish, a seeming rarity in Venlo. Our two dishes arrived 45 minutes later. Although it was a Saturday lunchtime the place was only about 20% full, some just taking coffee. Our portions were huge and piping hot, but were not especially memorable.

I had their version of Pizzza and it was surprisingly good, i typically stay away from americanised foods but this was good.I only had a beer and a pizza in the restaurant then went upstairs to a reggae concert.Place was packed but Dutch people as always are friendly and I had a great time. I would come here anytime to watch live music

Aanrader: sharing dinner 'ee
Sitting outside, more quiet and more atmosphere than in the main streets, but still in the center, we had choosen of the afternoon menu card (2 pm to 6 pm) the Kipspiesje sate (Chicken Satai) and Nacho's Bonaparte and Ovengegrillde groente (grilled vegetables) with a Lindeboom (light) beer and Venloose Alt out of the good beer card. The chicken satai was delicious, the (big) Nacho's not so: To much cheese on the top, missing more onions inside to give more flavour and the vegetables were not really grilled, only short cooked not spiced (normal in the Netherland). At the neighbo table, talking to them, it was served the Moroccan Couscous, which looked, smelled and tasted very good.Very friendly and nice service people, to be recommended.

It looked dark inside, but let`s try it. OK Friday, mid day only a few people there, but increased while we were there. A WIDE selection of fresh burgers with side plates (including freshly made chips). Only one downside; it was 7 degrees outside and no heating on. Mind you the man said as I was paying, we could put the heating on. A bit late. The staff were warm enough cooking and being busy. Great food, good service, fine music.

My Father, I and several colleagues have been working in Venlo for a month now, de Brasserie was one of the first restaurants we came across and since we haven't found anything comparable. The food is delicious and having ordered majority of the menu always exceeds my expectations. I would highly recommend the Borsch and the Mussels as they are my personal favourites however as stated previously, you cannot go wrong with anything on their menu. On our first visit we were greeted with smiles, kindness decorum and full knowledge of the menu, that has all continued for every visit. All the staff are truly beautiful and so friendly, a true asset to de Brasserie. Working away from home is hard but this restaurant and crew truly has made us feel like we have a home away from home!! Thank you guys we love you all and will most certainly be back :) xoxo

Had some awesome meals, and some average. My starter was absolutely divine, the Brunnenkresse suppe, but the main was not quite to my liking. It was the Heilbutt fish. Can only have myself to blame I guess. Coffee complete desert was out of this world again. Service was great and the wines good too. Can not fault them. All in all a great place to meet and eat.Hello Martin,Tank you for your review. Awesome to read that you marked our starter and dessert as out of this world, we are sorry that the main course wasn't to your likings perhaps. We would love to welcome you again if you are on a visit in Venlo.Kind regards,Dominique

This pub has a quite religious feel...decorated with religious statues and paintings. It's quite cozy though. There are quite a few beers on the menu and special ones on the tap. I had a beef stew for lunch, which was delicious (served with bread).Thank you for your respond. You say quite a few beers? We have 20 taps and over 100 bottled. With puts us in the top-3 bars in our town Venlo according to number of beers. But size doen't matter. Quality does. We are happy you liked our beer-stew.Louis KlaassensOwner
