It's difficult to decide if in the area. Too many choices. So we decided regarding trip advisor and a coupon book we got from the check in. This place offered a free litre sangria so we choose this one. :-) We wasn't disappointed. Good Pizza, a paella from the daily menu and the free sangria. Food okay, staff friendly, didn't expect more!.

My partner and I had a relaxing, fun and delicious dinner at L'appetito: the restaurant is located in a nicely renovated and attractive farm house in a charming little out of the way village just minutes south of Maastricht. The food is terrific with a wide choice of delicious home made pizzas and pastas, the appetizers were also very good with generous portions, and the prices, in our opinion, are reasonable considering that you are eating in a very pretty setting that is a cut-above your average "pizza place". Other nice touches are: easy parking either on site or around the corner in the village parking lot (all no charge), price friendly wines, and our waitress cheerfully packed up our left over pizza (we ordered too much....2 apps and 2 pizzas was simply too much food for the two of us...and we are big eaters) to take home. Everything was easy and pleasant.Note that while the service is very friendly and pleasant, the youngsters are not detail oriented - for example, it took forever to get a soft drink. And, the pizza kitchen does get backed up over the busy dinner hours so don't plan on a quick dinner. We look forward to returning.

My family ate here while visiting Maastricht in advance of our son attending university there. This was a few blocks from our accommodation and highly rated on Trip Advisor. I don't think we have ever been to a more unwelcoming restaurant. No "hi" or any greeting from the server, who just plunked down the menus and asked if we wanted drinks, and sternly said "we don't serve alcohol" when we tried to order wine. The chef had a permanent scowl on his face and frequently glared at the dining room.As for the food, the menu has an impressive list of pizzas with many vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Ours were very good, but again, served without so much as a "buon appetito" and frankly overpriced (even by Maastricht standards) at 15 euros each. As good as the pizzas were, the overall atmosphere was unwelcoming. My family has never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant. If you want to try the pizzas, I suggest getting them to go.Dear Mark B, Thank you for your constructive review. We are pleased that you enjoyed our pizzas. We are also sorry that you were let down by our service. We have addressed this with our staff. Our ambition is to create a pleasant, welcoming and engaging atmosphere. We are working on it and unfortunately sometimes get it wrong, we hope you will find the atmosphere we are all expecting upon your return. Many Thanks, Quelli di Bancale 61
