Bar / restaurant / small hotel, situated adjacent to the Gulpener Brewery, with a unique charm and warm atmosphere in Gulpen. Drinks, lunch, dinner.
Stopped by here just on a whim after hitting the brewery. Waiter was friendly and joking about the fact that he didn't have any English menus available. We knew a few key menu items in Dutch but he was more than happy to help us out and describe the dishes (in very good English). Nice atmosphere, both inside and out - it began to ran about half way through our outdoor meal so they moved us inside. When we asked the bartender about the Mestreechs Aajts beer (local brew sold in Gulpen only) he took us into the their brew room for a look. Very interesting look at the Lambic/Belgian style brewing in a very small setup. We sampled some and it's a bit strong - thus some previous reviews about the beer being "sour," "bitter," and "spoiled." If you're not used to Lambic type brewing, then it is most definitely a kick in the taste buds. As for how it compares to other Lambics? Not too shabby, though I didn't bother to order a second one, I'll stick to dubbels. In my limited beer touring experience, the Gulpener menu has many beers much more suited to whatever you decide to order along with your main course. Give this one a go if you're curious or like Lambics, but I'd say start with it and drink something else with dinner. As for food, I had the Holland steak with herb sauce (Hollandse biefstuk met kruiden-pepersaus) and it was very good - especially for a "pub." Around the table we also had the beef stew cooked in a beer/apples sauce (Stoofpotje van rundvlees, bereid met Gulpener speciaalbier ) - very good; A pork knuckle marinated in their Mestreechs Aajt beer (Spaakhammetje, gemarineerd in Gulpener "Mestreechs Aajt", met stroopsaus) - better than just the beer by itself; finally, a mixed green salad with two brie coquettes (Maaltijdsalade met gegratineerde Val-Dieu kaasjes) - very good. By the end of it, all four plates were clean and no complaints. Top that off with several good local beers (all Gulpener, of course) and it was quite good. Never did make it to dessert!I recommend this place to anyone coming through Gulpener, especially if you had the fortune of getting a tour of the brewery. Short walk around the corner. Again, if you don't like VERY sour Lambic beer, then probably best to stick with the Dort, Pilsners, or Dubbel; all very good small craft beers.

Brasserie, brewery and shop where you can learn, taste, experience and buy all special beers of the Gulpener Brewery, one of the last independent large breweries, that operates fully sustainably: local sourcing of ingredients, many biological beers and beers brews to the German Reinheitsgebot. Excellent taste .

The cemetery tour guide recommended going back to Gulpen to eat. We found this little cafe near an old church. Place wasn't packed. The wait staff was friendly, spoke English, and was helpful interpreting the menu. Had a chicken soup and went for the recommended spicy chicken sandwich with a beer and was not disappointed. I would definitely come back.

Mezzaluna serves home made, all natural ice cream. It serves many different unique flavours and ice cream is freshly made every day. Coffee creations made with the Italian brand illy, are also on the menu. To go with a delicious coffee, they serve a range
This is a great place to visit. The food is fresh and well presented. The ice creams were simply amazing. They are all made on the premises and there is so many to choose from. Its possibly the best ice cream I have ever had. We went a few times for lunch whilst visiting family in Holland. The staff were very friendly and its well worth the visit even if you just want a coffee or ice cream.

Great location to dine and wine, to watch people and to be watched. Outdoor seating is awesome! We ordered 3-course-menu which came with mustard soup, sour beef meat and dessert or Liquer coffee, the taste is okay but not spectacular. My husband ordered mix grill with medium rare but it wasn't up to our expectation. The speed of the serving could have been faster because they knew it advance that they have a private event.Overall, I may come back again. Dear Chin Y,Thank you for taking time to post a review! Hopefully we can meet up to your expectations next time! We would like to welcome you again in our restaurant. Kind regards,PeggyTeam Imperator

We went out into Gulpen to find a nice and simple place to have a meal, and we got what we were looking for!The signs in front of a small gate beckoned us in and brought us to a lovely little square covered in art and greens. It had a very nice atmosphere, really cute. The staff welcomed us in and gave us the menu - a simple choice menu, a venison menu and an a la carte menu. My boyfriend was very satisfied with the simple one, having onion soup (which was a tad too pepper-y, but still good), escalope and coffee. I was very content with the carpaccio made out of local Heuvelland ham and melon, and a main dish of rib-eye and 'diamanthaas' (a nice and tender piece of beef), also Heuvelland meat. They should make a seperate dish out of the potato gratin served with it, it was sooo good! The only thing was that we were seated pretty close to the door and every time it opened we were greeted by an icy draft.Other than that, a certain recommendation!

Grand cafe Neubourg offers very nice outside seating in the center of Gulpen. Very convenient. Coffee and vlaai were OK, but not great.

A visit to the Atelier is always again a surprising journey along tastefully presented dishes with inventive combinations of first class products, accompanied by a fine variety of wines or non-alcoholic fruitjuicessappen. A warm competent service supports you through this wonderful experience. Five stars are usually only reserved for the perfect experience and this was one of those !

The restaurant located in an old missionary serves a small menu with easy going meals and easy going service. Very cheap and in accordance with the meal. Not too fancy, but good to go. We had the local special "Zuur vlees" which was alright. The restaurant closes at 8 PM!!! So be in time.
