Find out what Central European restaurants to try in Maastricht. Touching Belgium on its west and just a few miles from Germany to the east, Maastricht is the capital of Holland’s southernmost region, Limburg. A town rich in history and culture, Maastricht boasts two wonderful town squares: Vrijthof, with Sint-Servaas Church, Sint-Jan's Cathedral and many bars, cafes and restaurants; and Markt, home to the town hall and, on Wednesday and Friday mornings, a fantastic vendor market. The city’s Vestigingswerken, or old town fortifications, are another big draw.

In a casual, trendy atmosphere on a castle domain located you can enjoy good food and drinks. Sofa is located in the former coach house where you are welcome for a drink in the bar or enjoy both lunch and dinner. In the adjacent building there are beautif
Sofa restaurant is located on the beautiful grounds of Kasteel De Hooghenweert, but not part of the same business group as the hotel. The Sofa restaurant has beautiful settings, both outdoor as indoor. It is a true pleasure to spend time here on dry summer afternoons and evenings. One day we had lunch and the next day dinner in the restaurantâs outdoor area. Quite a lot of people on both days, mix of locals and tourists, and you could tell that people did travel on purpose here. All food and wine we tried was delicious. Service very attentive, professional, while pleasantly informal. I would highly recommend this restaurant when in the Maastricht â Aachen â Liege area and planning a small detour.Thank you so much! Kind regards, Evelyne

went there for dinner and were warmly received by the head waiter. they had game on the menu which we ordered and that was delicious. the service was good but rather slow and unlike other restaurants in the Netherlands the owners spoke very little English making the communication difficult

We enjoyed a very creative dinner, with one person having an entree & main course, and the other a five dish dinner. Very helpful staff and attention to details. Another plus is the seating arrangements, where you do not sit on top of your neighbours, but at a comfortable seating spacing. Wine suggestions were very helpful. Looking forward to a revisit as soon as possible.

My wife and I greatly appreciated the well prepared dishes of this Maastricht restaurant calling themselves Eetcafé (something like eatery) CERAMIQUE and not restaurant. I am sure that veggies will also enjoy the good choice there is. There is another good thing: they serve a carafe of tap water for free, which is exceptional in The Netherlands. Good wines and beers and very friendly staff. Highly recommended. So no drawbacks? Well eh, but that is very personal: it is too dark, candle light all over. But at my demand they gave me the only table at the window site and as it was not yet dark, I was fine. But, huh, these dark surroundings of electric light haters... we prefer full light, let the dishes shine and do not put them into darkness. Skip the candle light dinners.

I had dinner in this restaurant over TEFAF period, it was very busy but this does not justify 1h waiting between the starter and the main course. The staff was quite kind but we had to ask for beverages and bread many times before actually getting them.My reindeer stew was absolutely exceptional, few choices of fish/veg dishes but overall a nice place.should improve the quality of service and the lighting system.

We went on a Sunday evening with the four of us. Great atmosphere, very friendly service and great quality pizzas and pastas. We had bruschetta and bread with garlic mayo as a starter and three times spaghetti carbonara and a pizza margarita as mains. A bootle of Chianti Classico for drinks. Lovely restaurant.

In this high-class French cuisine restaurant Chef Björn Dijkstra provides outstanding combinations of good wines, tasteful dishes and warm hospitality. Far away from the touristic trouble, but still in the city centre of Maastricht, Le Bon Vivant is locat
We visited for the 2nd time and both had the 5-course vegetarian menu. The experience is just phenomenal. Dietary wishes and allergies are checked in advance and followed thoroughly. Every course is well-rounded, thought through and tastes delicious. The timing between courses is optimal. The service is very friendly, polite and every guest receives full attention. The atmosphere in the cavern is great with quiet music in the background. Even when the restaurant is fully booked, it is not too loud and every guest has enough space. We will definitely visit again to try out the next seasonal menu.

Architecturally impressive, the Kruisheren Restaurant is suspended between the eaves of the nave, offering remarkable views of original wall and ceiling frescos. Modern lighting and contemporary furniture populate the mezzanine and offset the historic atm
Beautiful location, with nice courses and a fresh atmosphere. The location is unique because it is an old church converted into a classy hotel-restaurant with modern touches. There are some modern artworks, but also the large lamps and design interior provide a fresh atmosphere in this place.

Fortunately I was able to book a table for two during the famous Art Fair (TEFAF). During my reservation I have asked for a table at the window so we could enjoy the beautiful view on Maastricht. Although they couldnât guarantee this table I was lucky to get it. And what an astonishing view. It was a risk for Rantree to move from the centre of Maastricht to this place but it was worth it. Not only the view but also the interior. A modern and warm interior and plenty of space between tables. So you have enough privacy to spent an excellent evening. And although fully booked no noise, which is a great achievement. We ordered the 5 course diner. Not only the dishes were excellent but also the appetizers. Each one of them (I think we got 5 in total) tasted excellent. Compliments to the chef; not the standard stuff but beautifully shaped and presented appetizers. Especially the merengue appetizer was an explosion of flavours in our mouth. When you order a five course meal it is a 4 hour feast. The combination of the dishes is, combined with the appetizers, are well thought out and it doesnât feel like 4 hours. We had an culinary journey on a Michelin level (I have eaten at 2 Michelin restaurants that even didnât come close to Rantree). In fact we skipped the dessert because we were done (and are not that fond of desserts). The wine list contains of a small but sufficient selection of beautiful wines. As my partner isnât that fond of red wine we ordered a Pouilly Fumee. Very good price quality. Next time I will order the wine arrangement. The waiters are stylish and informal. A strange combination but it fits into this restaurant and probably they know how to judge the individual needs of their guests. The water and wine glasses were filled without having to ask. So no empty glasses. Is it all perfect? Almost. The bar has a beautiful view on Maastricht but has a little bit lack of atmosphere. It is a square room next to the restaurant but you will find only seats here. So actually not a bar. We were finally surprised again by a restaurant. It is not cheap but worth it. You will have a great culinary experience with great hospitality. So visit this restaurant when you are in Maastricht.Dear Alainl290In name of the whole team I may thank you for your nice and warm review. You've described very well what we're doing in our restaurant for our customers. It is therefor very nice to read how well our whole team did their very best to achieve all of your expectations and gave you a very unique experience. We sincerely hope to see you soon again.Kind RegardsTeam Rantrée

Outside of the city of Maastricht is this beautiful castle. In the evening you are welcomed by a lot of candles lining the pathways to the castle nestled close to the marl caves. After an aperitive in the wine cellars, which I donât think is optimal for the wines, we had a menu in the restaurant. Good service and original with a lot of attention for the âmise en placeâ. Salmon with nori, garlic, quinoa and sambai started with a Japanese touch. Grouper in a Mediterranean way and duck with ras-el-hanout both followed before a chocolate delicacy completed the meal.Dear Maurits, Yes you can have a Conference meeting in a lot of unique locations but a ten minutes drive to our location and into another world is a chance you will find only in Maastricht.
