They have an English menu, welcome credit card, also provide wifi and have a great selection of beers - I'm sold!I found the service engaging and pleasant. They provide a few crisps to nibble upon whilst sipping a beer and awaiting the meal, enjoying the background music - an eclectic choice of somewhat obscure 80s sounds that I found nostalgic and pleasing.On my first visit I had "frietjes met stoofvleessaus" which is basically beef stew with chips, the beef being slow-cooked in beer. I've had something similar over in Holland but I found this stew quite sweet, and with the plain chips it became a bit of a boring meal - no condiments are provided on the table (I had to ask for vinegar and salt for the chips) I returned for another meal a few days later but this time opted for the burger, served with a cajun onion topping, accompanied by chips and side-salad. It was an okay meal; once the topping and accompaniments had fallen off the burger I found it somewhat tasteless; just pure ground beef with no seasoning - it needed something to pep it up, such as bacon lardons or herbs.It's a pleasant place to relax; as it emptied towards the night I didn't feel rushed to leave so kicked back with another beer or two. Despite my misgivings about the meals I had, I'll still return to try out another dish or two there.

The owners have worked more than 20years in several well known local restaurants/ bistros. So it it is logic and fair to state they know what people want; a cosy small bistro starting with a great breakfast, over a decent lunch or diner ending with tapas supporting local beers ;)Cheers

We had our Christmas dinner party at Hooghuis. One long table to sit, who invented this setting making communication impossible? Anyway back to the core. Food is tasty and delicious. Well done. The winelist is offering choices, I chose the Spanish Rioja. Affordable and very good tasting, typical dark red and a bit heavy. I was pleasantly surprised!

Decor is really nice on the inside of the restaurant, also outside(streetside-terras) there is a good atmosphere, because it's in a very cute street with lot's of restaurants... we took the menu of 3 dishes. Started with a vitello tonnato, was delicious... after we took both the meat dish, also this was top quality. Maybe the vegetables could be more.. was ok byt not really original and not enough. We ended wit a dame blanche. Dessert also was a perfect ending! Overall feeli g was more than ok! Thid is an expensive restaurant, but you pay this days for quality meat and nice decor!

Happy to have a plantbased resto in Hasselt. We had a lunch with cocktails & mocktails.Make a reservation because all tables were full. We all had something different so we could have a taste of the menu.Menu is limited but as long as it changes at certain times, this Will not be a problem.It was very good and the plates look good, even our kiddo liked his bunny plate :) Also important, it is a beautiful place to eat with in the back of the resto a longer table for a bigger group.Location is perfect and close to public parking.We Will be back.Hello,Thank you so much for your lovely review.So nice to read you enjoyed our restaurant. I was brought here by friends who regularly attend this restaurant and i can sew why !! It was in the most beautiful setting . We sat outside beside the most beautiful sculpture. The decor both inside and out was picturesque. The food and cocktails as i pictured was full of flavour and so reasonably priced. My friends indulged (apparently the best in belgium). I will be back in belgium in october and will most certainly be returning to this restaurant xx

The only difference to the nearby "Lunch Garden" self-service restaurant is (1) the table service by very friendly staff, (2) the interior decoration and (3) the bill (which is about 3x higher), for the same food on your plate.The spare ribs where from 'den Aldi', steaks were grilled too long (they mixed up our order) and coffee is served without sugar or anything (which they apparently forgot).We will certainly never ever return.Overpriced. Underdelivered.Too bad.

This is a wonderfull place to have a culinary travel around the world. The servant tells and sells you wines as if she has cultivated them herself. The food is prepared by a humble chef with a great heart for his profession. A discovery as we seldomly find them. Highly recommended.
