Who would have thought ... It was the best lunch I have had in a long time! Alex serves really amazing food and it is all nicely presented (see the pictures), cooked to perfection, all very flavorful and for good prices...with amazing views on the Mediterranean and the Gallinara Island. The food we had was really amazing! Fresh seafood and fish cooked without over cooking them, beautiful sardines and shrimps and calamari battered to perfection before being fried...and the desserts...out of this world!!!!They also have a Bagni where you can roast in the sun and go for a swim. The beach is maybe not the "nicest" but the access to the water makes up for it and the views as well. Our new place for lunch...or dinner ;-)

In the midst of fairly boring and average beach front pizza, pasta and salad emporiums, this cheerful little cafe offers a variety of tasty and reasonably priced options for lunch. They are one of the few places in town that also advertises some breakfast choices that will cheer visiting Americans and British (bacon and eggs; pancakes, muffins). I am delighted to see some soups, vegetable flans and other items that go beyond the usual local repertoire. On a sunny day, you can sit within a meter or two of the sand. If the weather doesn't cooperate, it is inviting inside. It will take more than one visit to completely appraise the kitchen's capability, but our vegetable flan with Bagna Cauda Sauce and a second course of Fried Anchovies on Arugula with slivers of fried zucchini were both delightful. We had gone there with the intention of ordering sandwiches, but the daily specials were too tempting. With praise from some trusted locals, we were very happy to try this establishment.

A local friend suggested us to try this little restaurant for a quick bite for lunch. We went early and we had the lucky chance to sit outside, towards the sea. It's a home-run trattoria where you can have a full meal at pre-fixed price. Our lady friend, who had joined us, ordered the fixed menu, while we ordered dishes à la carte.Actually there was not such a big difference between the too options. In fact our friend was not able to eat the whole thing, the taste was the same and so were the prices. It's like a convent/university canteen-food but served by waiters or by the owners at your table: a little too bland, tasteless, and quality is questionable. All in all, it was quite OK, the location is nice, along the sea promenade, and prices are really adequate.Nevertheless I would not suggest to try it for dinner. You get what you pay.Dear Dapper777,we were surprised to read your review and, at the same time, we wondered why you decided to write 8 months after your visit...Moreover...1) we suppose that probably you didn't attend any university, if you compare that kind of situation to us (this is rather offensive...)2) we believe that YOU expected much more than what you paid for...3) simply... we are not the place for you!!!Anyway... thank you for your visit!

second visit. nice location. waiters a bit moody. there were 4 of us - ordered 1 starter - prosciutto melon which came as very small portion(compared to other restaurants) and then the 3 main meals for my family were brought at the same time. I then had to eat my main course - excellent Dover Sole - on my own. Portions generally poor - service lacking and very over priced.

We had lunch today. Two different mixed fish starters were absolutely delicious. Delicate, perfectly cooked and a bit different. Purple potato gnocchi with squid was excellent. Fritto misto was light with top quality ingredients. Sorbets and semifreddo were very good and prettily presented. Organic Vermentino wine was perfect. We were lucky to be given a corner table on the veranda. The views are wonderful. The location could not be bettered. This is quite an expensive restaurant. There is a cover charge but we thought this was reasonable. We had two delicious pre meal tasters - maize crisp and an anchovy dish - a basket of really good bread and bread sticks and a surprise plate of tiny desserts - biscotti, chocolates, jellies etc. We treated ourselves as we were celebrating the end of a really good holiday in this lovely part of Liguria. I would say this is more of a special occasion restaurant. The standard of cooking is very high and the service was delightful. Recommended.
