A port city of about 30,000 on Italy’s Ligurian Coast, Rapallo lies on the Tigullio Gulf about 15 miles southeast of Genoa. The 16th-century Castello sul Mare (Castle-on-the-Sea) is Rapallo’s most prominent landmark, sitting as it does smack in the harbor. The sixth-century Basilica of Santi Gervasio e Protasio is also worth a visit. For a real treat, take the bus or the funivia (cable car) to the sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Montallegro (Our Lady of Montallegro), which offers stunning views.

My husband and I went to this restaurant and were terribly disappointed. My husband ordered the soup which was cold and inedible. Our waitress tried to sell him on it by taking the spoon and pointing out the beans and the âI donât know what that is calledâ in it. As we sat eating our pizza staff members carried bags of garbage past our table along with the organic waste pail (there went the soup).Staff seemed more interested in changing out of their uniforms and waving good bye to fellow members than looking after patrons. All in all, I would have to say that this is the worst restaurant we have ever been to in Italy and we have travelled this country extensively. There are plenty of other options within the area. I would recommend one try somewhere else.

Having been told about the Trattoria we decided to turn up 5 minutes after they opened. All but one table had been pre-booked. All the customers were Italian except us the food was brilliant. We ordered ravioli with cheese and walnuts. An unusual combination but superb. I ordered Troffe ( a type of small pasta) with scampi and saffron sauce. Very yellow and very tasty. My wife then had veal rump with courgettes in a masala sauce which was absolutely gorgeous. I had a plate of grilled fish with frittata and grilled veggies which was so sweet and fresh. The portions were exceptionally generous so didnât have a desert. The whole experience was superb and by far the best meal of our holiday. We will be back in 6 weeks.

The queues outside this restaurant are quite something - the line finally disappeared about 10pm! but it was worth the wait. To save time, we chose our food while queuing and ordered directly. The pizza came quickly and was enormous!Service was quick, though they're so busy that sometimes little mistakes happen (they forgot our knives - I just went and got some). They're friendly and pleasant.Important - cash only!

Our first year in Rapallo we at fgirst avoided El Paso because of its name. But then we found out what great pizza they prepare! Second year we ate there often but stuck with pizza despite the appetizing fishes we saw being served to other tables. Our third year in Rapallo we ventured into the other dishes and they are some of the best we have eaten in Italy over many years. My wife really enjoyed all the fish dishes, especially the calamari. I had the tagliatelle with gorgonzola and noci (nuts) which is out of this world! The pasta is fresh-make and super light and delicate. I also had some other pasta dishes and all were extremely good. We did go back for pizza a few times (we stay for seven weeks each year) because it is exceptional. Funky ambience, and a weird name for an Italian restaurant but fantastic food at great prices and a very friendly staff. Put this on your must list of restaurants. Right near the train station.

We come back every year to this Restaurant. They have a big room and playground for Kids, who can jump around and have fun. When it's crowded the sometimes even have a Teen Girl watching to the Kids! The Food is delicious, the Prices are fair! and the employees are very professional and super friendly! Bravi ragazzi, ci vediamo!

Italian kitchen, the best pizza of north Italy made in wood stove, ancient Genova and Liguria recipes.
They have extremely good pizzas here. Service is very friendly and swift but lack a bit in english skills. Parking is very crowded and location is little remote from city center. Restaurant looks little outdated but in this case the looks does not tell anything about the food here. I can recomend it even with taxi fare included. It really is that good.
