Ristorante La Musa

An intimate and welcoming. Located in the city center near the station. Mediterranean cuisine, fine wines and friendly staff and qualified. A restaurant ideal for a romantic evening but also for a reunion between friends.

The typical Ligurian menu up and down the coast is about as predictable as the standard Chinese restaurant list. The real difference comes in the quality of the ingredients and the execution. On these measures, La Musa is worthy of your consideration. Add the pleasant service, simple but elegant interior and a few more adventurous dishes and it adds up to a desirable venue, at least for lunch. We have always felt the standards are more demanding the closer you get to the French border, and while we were here, nearly all the other patrons were French, a further sign of culinary approval.A sformatina of artichokes and a fried Camembert appetizer both were satisfying appetizers. Our mains, lightly fried calamari, prawns and vegetables; and an Orata filet, Ligurian style were both satisfying. We were too full for dessert, but did have espresso. While Illy is usually smooth and satisfying, theirs was a little on the bitter side. It appears that half the menu is on the pizza side of the equation, ad at this point we can't express any opinion on its success. We would consider going back to this fairly priced and modest main street location, a five minute walk from the train station.

Visited with a group of friends, we all ordered primi dishes, i'd recommend the vermicelli vongole if you like seafood, the gnocchi with pesto for vegetarians or the carbonara if you eat meat, the pork loin dish, whilst tasty, meat was overcooked, which made it tough to eat. Great value.

During an 8-night stay in Apricale with our young adult children, we twice enjoyed having dinner at Marco Polo. Dining there is a truly remarkable experience. The first night we hopped about the menu. Everything was fantastic. The second night, we all enjoyed the Ocean Menu. Each course was AMAZING. This chef innovates at the intersection of the Mediterranean Sea and the hinterland of Liguria. Perhaps this is perfectly illustrated by one of the Ocean Menu courses—ravioli with rabbit and sea urchin, fresh burrata, thyme. (Upon our return from the trip, we reminisced by each sharing our singularly favorite bite of the entire multi-city journey. Every person who received the ravioli cited this dish as his/her favorite dish of the trip.) The entire experience is wonderful. Lovely restaurant, immediately on the sea with beautiful views of the coast. Very warm and professional service. Perfect wine recommendations/selections. The dining experience is layered and unfolds with surprises (amuse bouche, palate cleanser, etc.) that I’ll decline to elaborate upon so you may perhaps enjoy the delight of the completely unexpected, delicious morsel arriving to your table. I’ve posted a photo of the Ocean Menu. Other beautiful full menus are available, too, as well as à la carte selections. Salt-encrusted sea bass…langoustine…lobster fricassee pasta…leeks with razor clams and black truffle…red mullet…fritto misto…the pistachio gelato…the tarte tatin…delicious! My photos of the plates do not do them justice so I won’t post them, but images may be found on Facebook (Diego Pani) and Instagram (dede_pani). When a visitor to the area, please make a point to experience this restaurant early in your stay so you’re able to return and enjoy it again…and again. We simply can’t wait to return.

We arrived at 11.15 am; most tables had 'reserved' signs on them but were unoccupied. We found and sat at a table without a 'reserved' sign, whereupon a very rude waiter declined to serve us a coffee. A colleague of his then agreed to serve us, but was prohibited from doing so by the first waiter. Pity as the location is excellent, but we will never return. We wonder whether the owner knows that customers are being turned away!Hello, thank you for your comment. The restaurant does not have many tables as you could see and we are fully booked almost every week-end. You sat on a « reserved » table without asking anyone. Usually, in the  « modern western world » :), you wait someone to place you.I suggest that next time: you book, and introduce yourself at the entrance to get your table as everyone does. Thanks for understanding.Regards.PLT

NIce place in the old town of Bordighera. We had lunch on the terrace with a view out over the old town to the sea. Relaxing and sunny. Nice choices on the menu that was translated by the wait staff - very helpful. I had the Coniglio alla Ligure and my wife had ravioli. The rabbit was excellent and surprisingly presented like a large pot pie. My wife's ravioli she thought was over done and reheated. Dessert was excellent as was the house wine. Very reasonably priced at Euros 55. Service was good although the orders were switched but we easily switched plates!!Overall worth the visit.
