It is the historical capital of the Podhale region. The town is situated in a valley beneath the Gorce Mountains featuring Gorce National Park established in 1981, at the confluence of rivers Biały and Czarny Dunajec. Administratively, it is in Nowy Targ County in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. It was previously in Nowy Sącz Voivodeship (1975–1998).

Die Pizzeria ist direkt am Markt gelegen. Die Bedienung ist freundlich. Das Essen bzw. der Cafe schmeckt.Bei der Bezahlung mit einer Kreditkarte sieht man exakt den PLN Betrag in der Anzeige, später steht dann auf dem Kreditkartenbeleg ungefragt eine Abrechnungsbestätigung in Euro und den erklärten Verzicht auf eine PLN Abrechnung. (= ca. 10% Mehrkosten).Das mobile Zahlungsterminal wird durch den Kassierer bedient. Reklamation zwecklos. Storno nicht möglich. Leider kein Einzelfall. Wer seine Gäste so behandelt, hat keine Gäste verdient.
