Leoben (German pronunciation: [leˈoːbn̩]) is a Styrian city in central Austria, located by the Mur river. With a population of about 25,000 it is a local industrial center and hosts the Montanuniversität Leoben, which specialises in mining. The Peace of Leoben, an armistice between Austria and France preliminary to the Treaty of Campo Formio, was signed in Leoben in 1797.

Visited this place with colleagues during our trip to Leoben. Reason behind my title is that for some reasons every time I go there and I order red wine, somehow I end up with white! Guessing not speaking Austrian does not help.
Cannot comment on the food but the menu is the same as the place next door called Arkadenhof. I know this restaurant well and I know that the food is excellent.
The wine selection is good and the atmosphere is excellent.

This little restaurant in the center of Leoben seems to be a meeting point for Leobeners, it's always crowded over lunchtime. It has a nice ambiente and very friendly staff, however, the food I ordered - a salat with grilled pigeon breasts was not convincing, the meat was hard-bitten and full of sinews. Maybe I should try a different choice the next time. The other people seemed to be happy with their food.

"We are telling beer storys, because we are beer history" that's the slogan of Arkadenhof, the oldest brewery restaurant of Leoben. A fact, that the well known beer pope Conrad Seidl noticed too, and elected the "A-Hof", that's how the locals call the cult restaurant, to the austrian "beer & cheese restaurant 2009". The gastronomic range of our historical tavern is rich and varied. The culinaric specialities that the chef and his crew prepare, orient themselves on local and fresh produce in season and exceptional "beery" plates. We would like to put a special highlight on the finel assorted selection of local organic cheese varieties. Or stay for a legendary "Gösser beer menu" consisting of a pint Gösser Gold - to compense the slight delay - and a slowly drawn Gösser Spezial with a huge four to five centimeter whitecap. Right on the main square, with tables outside. We chose to eat indoors, in the marvellous traditional setting. Food was good Austrian fare, with Styrian touches; we couldn't believe how efficient the service was, and we noticed a big party getting served fast too. Definitely recommended.

We had some difficulty finding "Gasthof Drei Raben” since it is located in a small street. A little sign indicates where you have to leave the main street, but then there are no further clues. However, if you keep right from there on you will not miss this restaurant.
In this ugly part of the Donawitz suburb of Leoben one would not expect a nice restaurant. So we were really surprised to find such a tastefully decorated restaurant of typically Austrian style in this place. We appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and the fact that the radio was playing only faintly in the background. We were served in an impeccable manner by a couple of a certain age who turned out to be the proprietors of "Gasthof Drei Raben”.
This restaurant is renowned for the wide variety of wines it offers. However, we came for a late lunch and therefore did not go for wine. Although the menu does not include a dedicated “dishes of the day” sheet, the entire menu seems to be updated quite often since it comprised several seasonal dishes. Immediately after we had ordered we gathered from typical kitchen noises that the preparation of our meals began. Thus we did not have to wait too long to receive our freshly prepared lunch.
Although the description of one of the dishes on the menu did not correspond precisely to what it was really like, we did not bother about that because everything was delicious. This was far more important to us than the accuracy of the description on the menu. The ultimate positive surprise provided the bill we received. At least as far as eating is concerned, "Gasthof Drei Raben” turned out to be priced fairly. It is only slightly more expensive than the many average restaurants “round the corner”, which are by far not as refined as "Gasthof Drei Raben”. Comparable dishes in restaurants of the same standing in the center of Leoben cost almost 20 percent more.

The smokers’ area of “Gasthof Zum Greif” has kept its traditional rustic styling. Hunting trophies decorate its walls. The adjacent nonsmokers’ area has been slightly modernized and is now a not very pleasing motley mix of old and new, whose decoration refers to the age-old beer tradition. Only few restaurants have retained that kind of appearance. Though not really pretty by today’s standards, these dining rooms are definitely worth to be seen and provide a fairly nice atmosphere.
The permanent menu was tradition-minded as well, because it comprised almost only classics of the Austrian cuisine, thereby covering meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. It was complemented by two dishes of the day, written at a chalkboard at the entrance. Since I chose one of them, roasted liver, it was served, as expected, after only a moderate waiting time.
The liver had been prepared with small bits of bacon, which gave a special flavor, and tasted fine. The chef deserved praise for the gravy, which was not greasy and had not been turned into stodge by adding too much flour. Seeing also the ordinary size of the portion, the price (less than ten euros) was fair. Service was friendly and for the most part swift as well.

We had 4 different dishes, including one half-portion for a child (they do not offer a kid's menu, but smaller portions, and you can negotiate everything with the super-friendly and fun waiter) and all were excellent. We enjoyed a nice communication with waiters and had a great dinner.

We stumbled upon Restaurant Antonio while driving through Leoben, and decided to give it a try. The restaurant has a large outdoor patio area, and there are two inside areas, one for smoking and the other non-smoking. The service was friendly and courteous, and our meals of Spaghetti Bolognese and Spaghetti Sandro (cheese, mushrooms, meat sauce, ham, red peppers, and egg) were tasty and of a generous size. The price was very reasonable at less than 20 Euros, and that also included a large beer and a soft drink. Overall, good value for money in a pleasant atmosphere.

Selection of food provided by the restraunteur was very satisfying. Of particular note was the delicious mushroom soup.
